The rooting ability of cuttings was studied under 0%, 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.4% indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) treatments. Significantly better rooting response (p ≤ 0.05) was observed with 0.1% IBA compared to control (0% IBA). The mean number of roots and the length of the longest root of cuttings in different treatments showed no significant difference (p≤0.05). After transfer into polythene bags from non-mist propagator, rooted cuttings treated with 0%, 0.1% and 0.2% IBA demonstrated the highest (100 ± 0.00%) survival capacity. The mean number of shoots developed in cuttings in the polythene bags in first three weeks varied significantly (p≤0.05) among the treatments. Effects of three fertilizer treatments, viz. T0 (no fertilizer), T1 (10g Urea, 20g TSP, 10g MOP dissolved in 1 L water) and T2 (10g Urea, 20g TSP, 10g MOP dissolved in 2 L water) on initial growth ofstecklings were also measured over a 90-days period. The increment of leaf area of stecklings was significantly higher (p≤0.05) under T0 compared with that under T1 and T2 while the increment of stem length, collar diameter and root biomass varied insignificantly among different fertilizer treatments. The results suggest that rooting juvenile single-node leafy stem cuttings could be an effective mean of regenerating L. monopetala. The application of 0.1% IBA concentration is recommended for rooting of juvenile leafy stem cuttings and application of fertilizer appeared unnecessary for the subsequent growth of stecklings in polythene bags.展开更多

The vegetative propagation becomes the only viable alternative for this species because B. vulgaris does not set seed after sparse flowering, which makes seedling progenies unavailable. A low-cost propagation trial was conducted to explore the clonal propagation techniques for the species with two types of small branch cuttings, nodal leafy cuttings and tip cuttings. The cuttings, after treating with 0, 0.1%, 0.4%, and 0.8% IBA solutions, were kept in non-mist propagator to let them to root for assessing the rooting ability. The cuttings were rooted in four weeks and were allowed to grow in the polybags for 10 months under nursery condition to assess their steckling capacity. The study reveals that both types of branch cuttings are able to develop roots, shoots, to survive and to form rhizome under the nursery condition. Rooting ability of the cuttings was significantly enhanced by the application of rooting hormone - IBA. The highest rooting percentage in nodal leafy cuttings and the tip cuttings (56.67% and 51.0%, respectively) were observed in 0.8% IBA treatment, followed by 0.4% IBA and the lowest (34.3% and 30.0%, respectively) was in control. The highest number of root developed per cutting (9.77 and 8.33 in nodal leafy cuttings and the tip cuttings, respectively) was also obtained from the cuttings treated with 0.8% IBA solution, followed 0.4% IBA treatment and the lowest (3.1 and 2.1, respectively) was in the cuttings without treatment. However, the length of the longest root varied significantly neither with the cutting types nor the concentrations of IBA solution. Survival percentage of the stecklings in nursery condition was significantly enhanced by IBA.展开更多

Rooting and sprouting percentages were higher in some treatments while other parameters were significantly higher in other treatments. The results of the present study revealed that rooting was significantly (p 〈 0.05) affected by the length of cuttings, as well as the position of shoots and type of cuttings. On average, 86.0 per cent rooting was observed in the 30-cm long cuttings com- pared to the other two lengths of cuttings, i.e., 20 and 25 cm, irrespective of any auxin treatment. In a control set, without any auxin treatment, a maximum of 60.0% rooting was recorded in the 30-cm long cuttings and a minimum of 40.0% of the cuttings rooted in the 20-cm long cuttings. Similarly, cuttings collected from the lower and upper portions of shoots resulted in 72.5 and 52.5 per cent rooting respectively, irrespective of auxin treatments. Maximum rooting was observed in the lower portion (40.0%) of cutting com- pared to the upper portion (30.0%) in the control set without auxin treatment. Leafless branches produced maximum (72.0%) rooting compared to the leafy cuttings (35.0%), irrespective of the auxin treatment. The leafy cuttings produces a minimum of 15.0% sprout- ing and rooting in the control set.展开更多

All leaves could be kept or 1/3 of each leaf could be cut. The cutting depth was that making the bottom node touch the substrate, and the cutting slips with short nodes should have 1/3 of the length insert in the soil. Each pot was planted with 2 - 3 cutting slips, and the substrate around the cutting slips was pressed by hands, followed by enough watering. And then white plastic bags were used to cover the pots, which were then placed in the place with the shading rate of 75%. The method had low costs but good landscape effect, promising with good development prospects, which could provide references for the promotion of out- of-season rapid propagation technology of Antigonon leptopus in tropical areas.展开更多

Cuttings were treated with 0, 0.2%, 0.4% and 0.8% IBA solution and rooted in the non-mist propagator. Rooted cuttings were allowed to grow in the polybags filled with soil and cow-dung mixed in the ratio of 3: 1 (by volume) for three months to assess the steckling capacity and initial growth performance. The study reveals that the species is amenable for clonal propagation by mature stem cutting. The highest rooting percentage (60%) was observed in the cuttings treated with 0.4% IBA solution followed by 0.2% IBA and the lowest was in controlled cuttings. The maximum number of primary root (32.7) was developed in the cuttings treated with 0.8% IBA solution followed by 0.4% IBA and the lowest was in the cuttings without IBA treatment. The highest survival percentage (70.9) was observed in the cuttings rooted with 0.4% IBA treatment and the lowest (58.3) was in the cuttings without any treatment. However, there was no significant variation in height growth of cutlings due to IBA treatments in rooting.展开更多

Most of the plantations of D. sissoo from seeds are facing severe threats due to the die-back disease, which ultimately causes death of this potential tree-species within a few months. Vegetative propagation could avoid the die-back disease. Thirty mother trees of different age-groups of D. sissoo were selected for evaluating the rooting behaviour of branch cuttings from D. sissoo as influenced by auxins (IAA or IBA at 100, 200, 500 mg·L^-1), ages of mother trees (10, 4 and 2 years old) and different environment conditions, i.e., different mediums (soil and sand) or light conditions (in shade and open condition). The results show that application of IAA and IBA induced more numbers of cuttings (collected from 10-year-old mother trees) to root compared to control. Branch cuttings of D. sissoo collected from 10-year-old mother trees and planted in soil bed in open conditions had 100.0% of cuttings to root in IAA (100 mg·L^-1) and IBA (200 mg·L^-1) treatments. Both rooting medium (Soil and sand) influenced significantly (p〈0.05) on rooting response of branch cuttings. Soil medium was found to achieve maximum no. of branch cuttings to root, compared to sand medium.展开更多

The multiscale simulation model, which links the finite element method and the molecular dynamics method, captures the atomistic mechanisms during nanometric cutting from the free surface without the computational cost of full atomistic simulations. Simulation results show the material deformation mechanism of single crystal copper greatly changes when the cutting speed exceeds the material static propagation speed of plastic wave. At such a high cutting speed, the average magnitudes of tangential and normal forces increase rapidly. In addition, the variation of strain energy of work material atoms in different cutting speeds is investigated.展开更多

For rootstocks with young age or thin stems, the joint unions of the oblique grafting propagation healed well, without apparent protrusions, unlike those of skin grafting propagation. The survival rate of oblique grafting propagation that is fast and reliable was higher than that of cut grafting propagation.[Conclusions] It is feasible to use the grafting propagation methods to propagate P. santalinus seedlings. This is a traditional and innovative technology path in the propagation of high-quality seedlings of precious Hongmu trees, and can be promoted and applied in industrial practice.展开更多

Regarding initial growth of established rooted cuttings (stecklings) over a 90 d period, the increment of stem length of stecklings under T2 (10 g Urea, 20 g TSP, 10 g MOP dissolved in 2 L water) and leaf area expansion of stecklings under T1 (10 g Urea, 20 g TSP, 10 g MOP dissolved in 1 L water) was significantly higher (p 〈 0.05) compared with that under TO (no fertilizer). The increment of collar diameter and root biomass production varied insignificantly among different fertilizer concentrations, although stecklings under T2 showed the better performance. The results suggest that rooting juvenile single-node leafy stem cuttings can be an effective mean of regenerating H. pubescens. The application of 0.1% IBA or without IBA is recommended for rooting juvenile leafy stem cuttings. Application of fertilizer appears necessary for subsequent growth of stecklings in polythene bags.

The results were as follows : (1)The rooting rate of the cutting reached at least 87 percent, when the cuttings were from the seed tree with the age below 25 years old and the cuts of the cuttings base were in vertical angle and on the fine sand medium. (2) The sequence of effective factors affecting the rooting rate were the style of cut, the age of seed tree and the trpe of mediun. (3) There are significant differences of rooting rate among different clones.
文摘The effect of auxins (IAA or IBA at 100, 200, 500 mg.L J) on rooting and sprouting parameters differed significantly (p 〈 0.05). The leafy cuttings produces a minimum of 15.0% sprout- ing and rooting in the control set.

文摘The shoots with good functional leaves were selected, from which cutting slips with the length of about 20 cm were cut, and 2 nodes were left for the ones with long sections. The method had low costs but good landscape effect, promising with good development prospects, which could provide references for the promotion of out- of-season rapid propagation technology of Antigonon leptopus in tropical areas.

文摘In order to solve the problem of rapid propagation of Sapindus mukorossi Gaertn seedlings, research on the cutting propagation of S. mukorossi Gaertn was conducted. The results showed that the rooting rate of cuttings of the ten clones ranged from 30.9% to 83.0%. Among them, the rooting rate of cuttings of clones SM01 and SM06 was higher than that of other clones, and there were significant differences between different clones in the rooting rate of cuttings. The rooting rate of the semi-lignified shoots having two leaves could be improved significantly. The treatment of the cuttings by GGR6 solutions had significant effects on their rooting rate.
文摘In order to realize the efficient industrial production of Ilex “China Girl”, an orthogonal experiment with 4 factors and 3 levels was designed. Firstly, the optimal orthogonal cutting scheme was selected from 9 treatments. Then through the systematic analysis of the effects of cutting position, substrate, exogenous hormones type and concentration on rooting indexes, such as rooting rate, root number, root length and root effect index, the theoretical optimal scheme was predicted and verified. The results showed that the theoretical optimal scheme (3000 mg/L IBA treatment for 15 s, cutting in mixed matrix with peat soil, perlite and vermiculite ratio of 2:1:1) was the optimal cutting rooting scheme of Ilex “China Girl”. After the treatment of this scheme, the rooting rate of Ilex “China Girl” reached 100%, the average root number was 51.67 per plant, and the average root length was 6.13 cm. The rooting time was greatly shortened, the rooting rate and rooting effect were greatly improved. In this study, the efficient cutting propagation technology system of Ilex “China Girl” was established, which laid a foundation for the popularization and application of Ilex “China Girl”, and also provided reference for further improving the cutting propagation efficiency of other evergreen holly. This study laid a foundation for the application of Ilex “China Girl”, and also provided a reference for further improving the cutting propagation efficiency of other evergreen holly.

文摘The study describes the scope of clonal propagation of guava (Psidium guajava Linn.) by stem cutting collected from mature stockplants. However, there was no significant variation in height growth of cutlings due to IBA treatments in rooting.

文摘To benefit tissue removal and postoperative rehabilitation, increased efficiency and accuracy and reduced operating force are strongly required in the osteotomy.A novel elliptical vibration cutting(EVC)has been introduced for bone cutting compared with conventional cutting(CC)in this paper. With the assistance of high-speed microscope imaging and the dynamometer, the material removals of cortical bone and their cutting forces from two cutting regimes were recorded and analysed comprehensively, which clearly demonstrated the chip morphology improvement and the average cutting force reduction in the EVC process. It also revealed that the elliptical vibration of the cutting tool could promote fracture propagation along the shear direction. These new findings will be of important theoretical and practical values to apply the innovative EVC process to the surgical procedures of the osteotomy.

文摘Dalbergia sissoo Roxb. is one of the promising multipurpose tree species of South Asia. Soil medium was found to achieve maximum no. of branch cuttings to root, compared to sand medium.

文摘A multiscale simulation has been performed to determine the effect of the cutting speed on the deformation mechanism and cutting forces in nanometric cutting of single crystal copper. In addition, the variation of strain energy of work material atoms in different cutting speeds is investigated.

文摘[Objectives] This article aimed to study the grafting propagation techniques of red sandalwood ( Pterocarpus santalinus ), so as to provide technical support for the effective propagation of seedlings of this precious Hongmu species.[Methods] Based on the analysis and comparison of the growth performance of the Hongmu tree species introduced to China, taking 1 to 2-year-old Pterocarpus indicus seedlings as rootstocks and single-bud stems of P. santalinus as scions, grafting was carried out from January to April using three grafting propagation methods, cut grafting propagation, skin grafting propagation and oblique grafting propagation.[Results] The results of several years of experiments show that in early spring, P. santalinus could be propagated well using the grafting propagation methods of skin grafting propagation and oblique grafting propagation, with survival rate over 80%. This is a traditional and innovative technology path in the propagation of high-quality seedlings of precious Hongmu trees, and can be promoted and applied in industrial practice.
