Low temperature is an important environmen-tal factor that limits the productivity and dis-tribution of plant. The ability to cold acclima-tion is a common adaptive response in plantsnative in temperate regions and results in en-hancing tolerance to chilling stress. In presentstudy the seedlings of Tesanai 2 were grown at28±1℃ and under a photo flux density (PFD)of 30μmol/m~2s for 8 d. The cold acclimationresponse is triggered by 14℃ under a PFD of75 μmol/m~2s for 3 d. Rice seedlings for cold-hardening were germinated from seeds treatedwith or without immersion in 30 mmol/L ofCaClsolution. STUDIES ON OPTIMUM MODELS FOR CULTIVATING DAHURIAN LARCH SEEDLINGS ON FRIGID REGIONS

The optimum models for cultivationg the seedlings of Dahurian Larch (Larix gmelim Rupr. ) were studied in the central nursery of Tahe Forestery Bureau from 1989 to 1993. The resultswerc as follows The optimum models of the main morphological standards of the seedlings were30000 kg /hm2 of' decomposed' ash for improviong soil, 70,000 kg/hm2 of excrement and 1,500 kg/hm2of' calcium superphosphate as basal fertilizer , and 500 kg/hm2 of (NH4)2HPO4 and 220 kg/hm2 of'urea as top dressing. During growth perlod of the seedlings, the growth was greatly checked when thesoil water suction (SWS) was uithin 50 ~ 73. 3 kPa or below 10 kPa but greatest when SWS waswithin 30 ~ 40 kPa in initial growth stage and within 10-20kPa in last growth stage. The method for determining the optimum sowing time is to measure the depth of soil thawing, accumulated temperature abovc 5℃ both at 5 cm of the depth of of soil and in atmosphere. In Tahe region, the optimumsowing trme for Dahurian larch for Dahuria larch is about on May 10 when the depth of soil thawing, the accumulatedtemperature above 5℃ at 5 cm of the depth and the accumulated temperature above 5℃ in atmosphere reaches 40 cm. abovc 46℃ and abovae 56℃ respectively. The optimum seedlings density forthis region is 600-800 individuals/m2. 展开更多

Organic planting bag has been developed to overcome both weaknesses of plastic polybags,contaminating the soil and damaging the plant’s root when transplanting.The improvement in this stage was achieved by inserting coconut fiber to strengthen a bag.The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of seedling and transplanting by using organic planting bags,employed,three woody plants,i.e.,Albizia(Albizia julibrissin),Cadam(Neolamarckia cadamba)and Gmelina(Gmelina arborea).Performance testing of organic plant bags was conducted on three compositions of coconut fiber and water hyacinth.Two stages of experiments were conducted to know bag performance.First,the testing of organic plant bags during the nursery was conducted for 50 d from day 0 to day 50.Second,the testing of organic plant bags after transplanting and observed on days 60,70,and 80,after transplanted on the field.The parameters in this study were plant height,a total of roots that penetrate the organic plant bags and a total of leaves and stem diameters of plant grown in the organic bag and transplanting on land.The results showed that organic planting bag with the composition 155 g of coconut fiber and 505 g of water hyacinth(A3B3)has 0.020 kg/cm^(2) compressive strength and provides the best plant growth rates.Compressive strength affects the number of roots which penetrate the organic bag.Generally,the growth of seed in organic bags is faster than that in polybags.Albizia shows a higher growth rate(0.379 cm/d)compared to Cadam and Gmelina. 展开更多
