S-doped mesoporous graphene modified separator for high performance lithium-sulfur batteries

Due to their low cost,environmental friendliness and high energy density,the lithium-sulfur batteries(LSB)have been regarded as a promising alternative for the next generation of rechargeable battery systems.However,the practical application of LSB is seriously hampered by its short cycle life and high self-charge owing to the apparent shuttle effect of soluble lithium polysulfides.Using MgSO_(4)@MgO composite as both template and dopant,template-guided S-doped mesoporous graphene(SMG)is prepared via the fluidized-bed chemical vapor deposition method.As the polypropylene(PP)modifier,SMG with high specific surface area,abundant mesoporous structures and moderate S doping content offers a wealth of physical and chemical adsorptive sites and reduced interfacial contact resistance,thereby restraining the serious shuttle effects of lithium polysulfides.Consequently,the LSB configured with mesoporous graphene(MG)as S host material and SMG as a separator modifier exhibits an enhanced electrochemical performance with a high average capacity of 955.64 mA h g^(-1) at 1C and a small capacity decay rate of 0.109%per cycle.Additionally,the density functional theory(DFT)calculation models have been rationally constructed and demonstrated that the doped S atoms in SMG possess higher binding energy to lithium polysulfides than that in MG,indicating that the SMG/PP separator can effectively capture soluble lithium polysulfides via chemical binding forces.This work would provide valuable insight into developing a versatile carbon-based separator modifier for LSB. 展开更多

The basic flow model of laminar flow field and the trajectory model of dispersed phase drops are derived. Based on the comparable volumetric flow rate, the dispersed flow rate can be linearly discretized. Consequently, the trajectory of a droplet in the channel can be tracked, and the trajectories of all drops are observed in order to statistically analyse the drops for capture or entrainment. Therefore, in terms of theoretical model of motion, the stratified two phase flow systems are studied in the mixture of nitrobenzene and concentrated sulfuric acid. The analytical results indicate that the trajectories of droplets of different diameters are different at the same location. The larger droplets can help to promote the efficiency of plate separators. The thickness of trickling film has a significant influence on the efficiency of numerical simulation when the concentration of the dispersed phase is greater than 10%. So the modification of thickness of trickling film can help to get the real flow field efficiency. The low flow rate lowers the average Renolds number so that the lighter phase droplets have sufficient time to interact with the trickling film. It is an indispensable factor for predicting efficiency that coalesced drops flow off inclined plates together with trickling films. A comparison confirms that the simulation results are in good agreement with the experiment results. 展开更多

Acid loss and plasticization of phosphoric acid(PA)-doped high-temperature polymer electrolyte membranes(HT-PEMs)are critical limitations to their practical application in fuel cells.To overcome these barriers,poly(terphenyl piperidinium)s constructed from the m-and p-isomers of terphenyl were synthesized to regulate the microstructure of the membrane.Highly rigid p-terphenyl units prompt the formation of moderate PA aggregates,where the ion-pair interaction between piperidinium and biphosphate is reinforced,leading to a reduction in the plasticizing effect.As a result,there are trade-offs between the proton conductivity,mechanical strength,and PA retention of the membranes with varied m/p-isomer ratios.The designed PA-doped PTP-20m membrane exhibits superior ionic conductivity,good mechanical strength,and excellent PA retention over a wide range of temperature(80–160°C)as well as satisfactory resistance to harsh accelerated aging tests.As a result,the membrane presents a desirable combination of performance(1.462 W cm^(-2) under the H_(2)/O_(2)condition,which is 1.5 times higher than that of PBI-based membrane)and durability(300 h at 160°C and 0.2 A cm^(-2))in the fuel cell.The results of this study provide new insights that will guide molecular design from the perspective of microstructure to improve the performance and robustness of HT-PEMs. 展开更多

The manual picking of strawberries is inefficient and costly,limiting scalability and economic benefits.Mechanizing this process reduces labor demands,improves working conditions,and modernizes the strawberry industry.Target detection technology,crucial for mechanized picking,must accurately determine strawberry maturity.This study presents an enhanced YOLOv8s model addressing current machine learning issues like accuracy,parameters,and complexity.The improved model replaces the Bottleneck structure in C2f with the FasterNet network,integrates an efficient multi-scale attention mechanism,and uses the Ghost module in the backbone to reduce computational load while maintaining performance.It also introduces Wise-IoU for bounding box regression loss,improving recognition accuracy.The YOLOv8s-FEGW model achieves a 93.8%mAP in detecting strawberry ripeness,with significant reductions in parameters(36.8%),complexity(34.6%),and model size(37.7%),alongside a 12.7% Frames Per Second(FPS)boost.These enhancements result in excellent detection capabilities,supporting agricultural automation and intelligence. 展开更多

Diffractive optical elements(DOEs) with spectrum separation and beam concentration(SSBC) functions have important applications in solar cell systems. With the SSBC DOEs, the sunlight radiation is divided into several wave bands so as to be effectively absorbed by photovoltaic materials with different band gaps. A new method is proposed for designing high-efficiency SSBC DOEs, which is physically simple, numerically fast, and universally applicable. The SSBC DOEs are designed by the new design method, and their performances are analyzed by the Fresnel diffraction integral method.The new design method takes two advantages over the previous design method. Firstly, the optical focusing efficiency is heightened by up to 10%. Secondly, focal positions of all the designed wavelengths can be designated arbitrarily and independently. It is believed that the designed SSBC DOEs should have practical applications to solar cell systems. 展开更多

The herringbone water-sediment separation structure(HWSSS) was developed to prevent debris flows. This paper mainly focuses on evaluating the sediment separation efficiency of HWSSS in debris flow prevention and determining the grid opening width D, a crucial structure parameter for HWSSS design. Theoretical analysis on the total sediment separation rate Pt reveals that the efficiency of sediment separation is much related with sediment grain size distribution(GSD) and grid opening width. The lower limit of Pt is deduced from the perspective of safety consideration by transforming debris flow into sediment-laden flow. Hydraulic model tests were carried out. Based on the regression analysis of the experimental data, the quantitative relationships between Pt and D and GSD characteristic values were finally established. A procedure for determining optimal grid opening width is proposed based on these analyses. These results are of significance in evaluating sediment separation effect by HWSSS in debris flow prevention and contribute to a more explicit methodology for design of HWSSS. 展开更多

The effects of separation time and magnetic induction intensity on the separation efficiency of alumina particles with diameters varying from 30 to 200 μm in aluminum melt were investigated. The experimental results show that the particle-accumulated layer is formed in the periphery of the solidified specimen when the diameter of the separated molten metal, the magnetic induction intensity and the separation time are 10 mm, 0.04 T and 1 s, respectively. When the separation time is 2 s, the particle-accumulated layer can be observed obviously and the separation efficiency is about 80%. There are few alumina particles in the inner of the solidified specimen when the separation time is 3 s. The separation efficiency higher than 85% can be achieved when the separation time is longer than 3 s. When the magnetic induction intensity is 0.06 T, the visible particle-accumulated layer can be formed in 1 s and the separation efficiency is higher than 95%. The experimental results were compared with the calculated results at last. 展开更多

Sand production often leads to the failure of production equipment on offshore platform.Therefore,a new idea has been put forward,which is installing cyclone or baffle in the internal of the slug catcher for better sand control.In this paper,an experimental study is presented,which mainly includes sand particles accumulation shape,migration law and separation performance.The results suggest that the accumulation area is mainly divided into two zones:the crowded settlement zone and the free settlement zone.The crowded settlement zone has a special shape,which can be characterized by two parameters:accumulation length and accumulation angle.Axial sampling analysis shows obvious particle classification.Median particle size decreases with the increase of the axial distance,and the range of particle size distribution narrows gradually.The separation experiment shows that the gas velocity has the greatest influence on the separation efficiency.When the gas velocity is 14 m·s^ 1,the separation efficiency drops sharply,which can be abated by installing cyclone separator.In addition,the separation efficiency tends to be a constant under different gas velocities by installing baffle with appropriate height.Then the effectiveness and rationality of installing internal components can be strongly proved.All these provide important guidance for maximizing the sand control function of the slug catcher. 展开更多

The gas/liquid spiral separator, a key component in the compressed air system, was used to remove liquid and oil from gas stream by centrifugal and gravitational forces. To optimize the design of the separator,the relationship between the performance and structural parameters of separators is studied. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method is employed to simulate the flow fields and calculate the pressure drop and separation efficiency of air-liquid spiral separators with different structural parameters. The RSM (Reynolds stress model)turbulence model is used to analyze the highly swirling flow fields while the stochastic trajectory model is used to simulate the traces of liquid droplets in the flow field. A simplified calculation formula of pressure drop in spiral structures is obtained by modifying Darcy's equation and verified by experiment. 展开更多

A statistical test using the Box-Behnken Design of experiments was conducted to evaluate the effects of individual operating variables and their interactions on desulfurization of fine coal using an enhanced centrifugal gravity separator. A model describing the relation between desulphurization efficiency of pyrite sulfur and different operating variables has been designed. The interactions between different factors on the pyrite sulfur desulphurization efficiency have been analysed. The optimal test conditions for desulfarization are extracted from the Design-Expert 6.0 software. Galena(PbS)and chalcopyrite(CuFeS_(2))are sulfide minerals that exhibit good floatability characteristics.Thus,efficiently separating them via common flotation is challenging.Herein,a new method of surface sulfuric acid corrosion in conjunction with flotation separation was proposed,and the efficient separation of galena and chalcopyrite was successfully realized.Contact angle test results showed a substantial decrease in surface contact angle and a selective inhibition of surface floatability for corroded galena.Meanwhile,the contact angle and floatability of corroded chalcopyrite remained almost unaffected.Scanning electron microscope results confirmed that sulfuric acid corrosion led to the formation of a dense oxide layer on the galena surface,whereas the chalcopyrite surface remained unaltered.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results showed that the chemical state of S^(2-)on the surface of corroded galena was oxidized to SO_(4)^(2-).A layer of hydrophilic PbSO4was formed on the surface,leading to a sharp decrease in galena floatability.Meanwhile,new hydrophobic CuS_(2),CuS,and Cu_(1-x)Fe_(1-y)S_(2-z)species exhibiting good floatability were generated on the chalcopyrite surface.Finally,theoretical analysis results were further verified by corrosion–flotation separation experiments.The galena–chalcopyrite mixture was completely separated via flotation separation under appropriate corrosion acidity,corrosion temperature,and corrosion time.A novel approach has been outlined in this study,providing potential applications in the efficient separation of refractory copper–lead sulfide ore. 展开更多

The cyclone separator is an important separation device.This paper presents a new type of embedded two-stage cyclone,which includes a 2 nd-stage cyclone(internal traditional cyclone)with multiple inlets and a 1 st-stage cyclone(outer cylinder)that unifies the 2 nd-stage cyclone inlets into one inlet.The Taguchi experimental method was used to study the two-stage cyclone separator’s inlet area on its performance.Studies have shown that the increase of the 1 st-stage cyclone inlet area and the increase in the number of 2 nd-stage cyclone inlets(N)positively affect reducing the pressure drop and a negative effect on efficiency.It is recommended to use 2 S(the original 1 st-stage cyclone inlet area)of the 1 st-stage cyclone inlet area and 2 N of the 2 nd-stage cyclone inlets when separating fine particles.Compared with a traditional cyclone,the pressure drop is reduced by 1303 Pa,the mass separation efficiency(Eq)is increased by 0.56%,and the number separation efficiency(En)is increased by 2.05%.When separating larger particles,it is recommended to use 2 S of the 1 st-stage cyclone inlet area and 4 N of the 2 nd-stage cyclone inlets.Compared with a traditional cyclone,although Endecreases slightly,the pressure drop is reduced by 3055 Pa,and the Eqis increased by 0.56%.The research results provide new insight into the design of the cyclone. 展开更多

Vortices motion in the anisotropic turbulent flow of cyclones makes a vital impact on flow stability and collection performance.Nevertheless,there remains a lack of clarity in the overall feature of vortices motion.In this work,a numerical analysis was conducted to clarify the complex motion of the vortex core in a cyclone separator.The validity of the numerical model was demonstrated by comparing the computational results with experimental data in the literature.As revealed by the results,the vortex core not only has a precession motion about the geometrical center axis but also does a nutation motion in the axial direction.The frequencies of the precession motions show two main peaks.And the magnitudes of the precession and nutation motions have non-uniform distributions in the cyclone.Moreover,the precession-nutation motions of the vortex cores exhibit a similar fluctuant pattern to the dust ring on the separator wall.The inlet gas velocity and the inlet solid loading show vital effects on the magnitudes and frequencies of precession and nutation motion. 展开更多

半导体光催化剂有效的电荷分离及利用是光催化制氢的关键.单一半导体催化剂由于光生电子-空穴对的快速复合导致低的光催化活性,构建异质结是提高光生电荷分离以及电子转移效率的有效方法.此外,助催化剂的引入同样能够促进光催化剂表面... 半导体光催化剂有效的电荷分离及利用是光催化制氢的关键.单一半导体催化剂由于光生电子-空穴对的快速复合导致低的光催化活性,构建异质结是提高光生电荷分离以及电子转移效率的有效方法.此外,助催化剂的引入同样能够促进光催化剂表面电子和空穴的分离,并且其协同效应可促使更多载流子流向相应的助催化剂位点而增强光催化性能.因此,同时构建异质结及合适的氧化位点成为解决光生电子-空穴对有效分离及利用的重要研究方向.本文报道了一种同时构建S型异质结和氧化位点促进CuMn_(2)O_(4)光生电子-空穴对有效分离及利用的可行性策略.虽然在制备CuMn_(2)O_(4)的过程中通过调控制备温度能够自身诱导生成具有氧化能力的Mn_(2)O_(3)来作为氧化位点,但是只存在氧化位点时不能很好地克服光生电子-空穴对的重组现象而导致光催化活性较低.基于此,本文巧妙地利用CuMn_(2)O_(4)自身诱导生成氧化位点的特性并引入石墨炔还原端而构建S型异质结,在氧化位点及S型异质结同时存在的情况下增强光生电子的有效转移.此外,在自身诱导生成氧化位点和S型异质结的协同作用下,促进了复合光催化剂中的光生电子和光生空穴精确定向迁移到相应的还原位点和氧化位点.傅里叶变换红外光谱和拉曼光谱证实成功制备了石墨炔.X射线衍射(XRD)、X射线光电子能谱(XPS)、扫描电子显微镜(SEM)和高分辨透射电子显微镜(TEM)等结果表明,成功制备了600-CuMn_(2)O_(4)/GDY-40%(6-CG-40%)样品(600°C焙烧,石墨炔质量百分含量为40%).经过组分优化的复合光催化剂6-CG-40%的催化性能达到1586.54μmol g^(‒1)h^(‒1),是CuMn_(2)O_(4)(106.73μmol g^(‒1)h^(‒1))和石墨炔(70.57μmol g^(‒1)h^(‒1))产氢活性的13.86倍和21.48倍高.利用UV-vis光谱、电化学性能和接触角测试等分析6-CG-40%复合光催化剂产氢性能提升的原因,并通过密度泛函理论计算和相关实验表征验证Mn_(2)O_(3)作为氧化助催化剂的合理性.结果表明,原位诱导生成的Mn_(2)O_(3)氧化助催化剂和引入石墨炔构建的S型异质结有效抑制了光生电子-空穴对的复合,从而优化了光生载流子转移效率,最终增强了曙红敏化6-CG-40%光催化析氢性能.综上所述,在控制诱导因子原位生成Mn_(2)O_(4)氧化助催化剂的基础上引入石墨炔还原端构建了S型异质结,在助催化剂与异质结两者的协同作用下极大程度地改善了光生电子-空穴对的严重复合现象,这项工作为解决光催化制氢领域中制约光催化剂制氢能力的关键问题提供了可行性思路. 展开更多
