Allergy-related Evidences in Relation to Serum IgE:Data from the China State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease,2008-2013

Objective To investigate the serum total IgE （tlgE） and specific IgE （slgE） to common allergens among allergic patients in Guangzhou, China. Methods 7 085 patients were examined for tlgE and slgE to 15 allergens, based on the protocols of reversed enzyme allergosorbent test and the sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results 3 758 （53.04%） patients tested positive for tlgE, and 4 640 （65.49%） for slgE. Der pteronyssinus, Derfarinae, eggs, and cow＇s milk were the most common allergens leading to higher positive rates of slgE responses. Several peaks of sensitization were： Der pteronyssinus, Derfarinae, and Blomia tropicalis at age 10-12; cow＇s milk at age below 3; eggs at age 4-6. The mean level and positive rate of tlgE tended to increase in subjects sensitized to more allergens. Sensitization to Der pteronyssinus （OR, 1.6; P〈O.05）, Der farinae （OR, 1.5; P〈O.05）, Blomia tropicalis （OR, 1.4; P〈O.05）, Blattella germanica （OR, 1.5; P〈O.05）, cow＇s milk （OR, 1.3; P〈O.05）, and soy beans （OR, 2.0; P〈O.05） were independently correlated with allergy-related conditions in preliminary diagnosis. Conclusion The major allergens in Guangzhou include Derpteronyssinus, Derfarinae, cow＇s milk, and eggs. Sensitization to these allergens appears to be predictors of allergy-related disorder.

Relationship between Serum Specific IgE and Allergen Skin Test in Allergic Patients of Wuhan Area

Summary: In order to study the relationship between serum specific IgE (sIgE) and allergen skin test, allergen skin tests and detections of sIgE in 220 allergic patients of Wuhan area were analyzed. The coherent rate of the two methods was beyond 70 % (P<0.01). It was concluded that the in vitro and in vivo detection methods of allergens have a high coherence and can be used as the effective ways to diagnose the allergic diseases in clinical practice.

Clinical Observation of Zhuang Medicine Crystal Sugar Ye'An Decoction in Treating Senile Skin Pruritus and Its Effects on Serum lgE

Objective:To discuss the specific application of Zhuang Medicine Crystal Sugar Ye'An Decoction in senile skin pruritus and its effects on serum IgE detection level.Methods:90 patients with senile skin pruritus admitted to our hospital from February 2019 to April 2020 were randomly grouped.The general treatment effect,itching,secondary skin lesion severity,sernum IL-6,IgE level and adverse reactions between 45 patients treated with Chlorcyclizine Hydrochloride Tablets(The control group)and 45 patients treated with Crystal Sugar Ye'An Decoction were compared.Results:The total effective rate of the treatment in the observation group was 93.33%,much higher than that in the control group,75.56%.The difference was verified and statistically significant(P<0.05).Before the treatment,the itching area,frequency,duration and severity of secondary skin lesions were at the same level(P>0.05).After the treatment,the above data were all reduced,and the reduction of the observation group was more significant than that of the control group,indicating the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before the treatment,there was no difference in serum IL-6 and IgE test data between the two groups(P>0.05).After the treatment,the tendency all declined,and that of the observation group was more obvious,indicating the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).During the experiment,no obvious adverse reactions were observed in both groups.Conclusion:In the treatment of patients with senile pruritus,the application of Zhuang Medicine Crystal Sugar Ye’An Decoction is not only safe and reliable,but can promote the improvement of patients'symptoms,adjust the level of inflammatory factors,and enhance clinical efficacy.

蒿属变应原皮肤点刺试验与血清特异性IgE的相关性研究

蒿属是我国东北地区夏秋季的主要变应原^[1]，其引起疾病者症状严重，季节性明显。本研究旨在通过比较蒿属皮肤点刺实验（skin prick test，SPT）不同皮肤风团直径以及不同皮肤反应指数（skinindex，SI）对应的血清特异性IgE（specificl gE，slgE）阳性率以及SPT级别与血清slgE级别的关系，评估蒿属变应原SPT结果与血清slgE之间的相关性。

Age-Related Serum Total Immunoglobulin E Levels in Suspected Allergic People in Bangladesh

Allergy is an adverse immunologic response of increasing prevalence and severity in which immunoglobulin E plays a pivotal role. Total IgE (tIgE) levels show wide variations depending on various factors, such as age, sex, ethnicity, and geographic area. This study set out to quantitatively determine the serum tIgE levels in Bangladeshi population who were clinically suspected cases of allergic diseases and to find out the association of tIgE level with their age and gender. This cross-sectional descriptive exploratory study was conducted at Biomed Diagnostics Laboratory, Panthapath, Dhaka, from March 2021-September 2021. A total of 402 blood samples were collected from clinically suspected cases of allergic diseases. Quantitative detection of tIgE in serum was done by Immunoblot assay manufactured by Proteome Tech Inc. (PROTIATM Allergy-Q64S panel). Among 402 subjects, a wide variation of tIgE levels ranging from 5 to 2000 IU/ml was found but majority of the study population (30.35%) showed tIgE levels within the range of 201 - 350 IU/ml. The study population aging 1 - 10 years showed highest frequency (23.63%) in tIgE concentrations and the mean tIgE level exhibited a declining tendency with an increase in age. Depending on gender there was no difference in tIgE levels. Determination of tIgE level is imperative for screening allergic diseases. The present study enlightened the distribution of tIgE levels and suggested that among Bangladeshi subjects irrespective of gender there is an inverse relationship between tIgE level and age.

Semaphorin 3A controls allergic and inflammatory responses in experimental allergic conjunctivitis

AIM: To assess the efficacy of topical Semaphorin 3A(SEMA3A) in the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis.METHODS: Experimental allergic conjunctivitis(EAC)mice model induced by short ragweed pollen(SRW) in 4-week-old of BALB/c mice, mice were evaluated using haematoxylin and eosin(H&E) staining, immunofluor-escence and light microscope photographs. Early phase took the samples in 24 h after instillation and late phase took the samples between 4 to 14 d after the start of treatment. The study use of topical SEMA3A(10 U, 100 U,1000 U) eye drops and subconjunctival injection of SEMA3 A with same concentration. For comparison, five types of allergy eyedrops were quantified using clinical characteristics.· RESULTS: Clinical score of composite ocular symptoms of the mice treated with SEMA3 A were significantly decreased both in the immediate phase and the late phase compared to those treated with commercial ophthalmic formulations and non-treatment mice. SEMA3 A treatment attenuates infiltration of eosinophils entering into conjunctiva in EAC mice. The score of eosinophil infiltration in the conjunctiva of SEMA3 A 1000 U-treated group were significantly lower than low-concentration of SEMA3 A treated groups and non-treated group. SEMA3 A treatment also suppressed T-cell proliferation in vitro and decreased serum total Ig E levels in EAC mice. Moreover, treatment of SEMA3 A suppressed Th2-related cytokines(IL-5, IL-13 and IL-4)and pro-inflammatory cytokines(IFN-γ, IL-17 and TNF-α)release, but increased regulatory cytokine IL-10 concentration in the conjunctiva of EAC mice.CONCLUSION: SEMA3 A as a biological agent, showed the beneficial activity in ocular allergic processes with the less damage to the intraocular tissue. It is expected that SEMA3 A may be contributed in patients with a more severe spectrum of refractory ocular allergic diseases including allergic conjunctivitis in the near future.

Diagnostic values of combination of free running asthma screening test and total serum allergen IgE level in children with asthma

Background A free running asthma screening test is usually used for screening exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.The total serum allergen IgE level can reveal the patient＇s atopy characteristics.Our study is to evaluate the diagnostic values of the combination of the two tests in asthmatic children and compare this new diagnostic method with the Intemational Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood （ISSAC） questionnaires and the bronchial provocation test,which are popular diagnostic tool for pediatric asthma.Methods A total of 773 school children were recruited in this study.The children＇s asthma was diagnosed by means of a combination of the free running asthma screening test and total serum allergen IgE level.The new diagnostic method value was assessed using receiver operating characteristic （ROC） curves and compared with other diagnostic tools such as ISSAC questionnaires and the bronchial provocation test.Results The AUC of this new diagnostic method was higher than 0.9.When the cut-off value of total serum allergen IgE level was ≥47 KU/L,the sensitivity and the specificity were 71.4％ and 85.1％,respectively,which were better than those of either the ISSAC questionnaires or bronchial provocation test.Conclusion The combination of the free running asthma screening test and total serum allergen IgE level may be an effective diagnostic tool for children＇s asthma.

Vesiculation Therapy of Cantharides Extract for Perennial Allergic Rhinitis and Its Effect on Serum Tolal I

The therapy of 10% Cantharides extract in treating 50 cases of perennial allergic rhinitis(PAR) was studied. The extract was plastered and blistered on Dazhui and Neiguan points. It was observedby nasal mucosa provocative test, cells in nasal secretion test and serum total IgE test. The results showedthat ite effective rate was 88% . After treatment the allergic nasal mucosa provocative test of the treatedgroup was alleviated obviously ( P < 0 . 01 ) and the number ot eosinopnil affd basophil in nasal secretion de-creased significantly ( P < 0 . 01 , P < 0 . 05 ) . The serum total lgE also reduced significantly I P < 0 . 01 ) .
