On January 18, 2005, Prof. Chen Yiyu, President of NSFC, and Dr. William Harris, Director General of SFI (Science Foundation of Ireland) signed the MOU for collaboration in the Great Hall of the People, witnessed by...On January 18, 2005, Prof. Chen Yiyu, President of NSFC, and Dr. William Harris, Director General of SFI (Science Foundation of Ireland) signed the MOU for collaboration in the Great Hall of the People, witnessed by Premier Wen Jiabao and the visiting Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern. According to the MOU, both sides will promote cooperation and exchange in biotechnology, information technology/computer science and new materials through bilateral workshop, exchange of excellent scientists as well as joint research between scientists of both countries in priority areas and key subjects. After the signing ceremony, Prof. Chert attended the state banquet held by Premier Wen for Mr. Ahern in the Great Hall. In addition, Prof. Chen exchanged the latest development as well as the launch of bilateral cooperation with Dr. Harris during their meeting. They also agreed to hold the China-Ireland bilateral workshop in biotechnology in May 2005.展开更多
