This paper abstracts the urban pattern of "shan-shui-city" (Mountain-Water-City) from the traditional Chinese urban landscapes and urban layout, and illustrates it in detail from multiple dimensions of culture, function and aesthetics. To promote the adoption of "shan-shui-city" con-cept, this paper proposes the strategies of historical environment protection and development at three spatial levels: to establish the artistic struc-ture at regional level, to maintain and refine the scenery system at city level, and to create the spirit of place at site level.展开更多
