Based on the survey data for 2120 inbound and domestic tourists at the Shanghai World Expo,a structural equation model was constructed for the relationship among tourists' perceived value dimensions,behavioral int...Based on the survey data for 2120 inbound and domestic tourists at the Shanghai World Expo,a structural equation model was constructed for the relationship among tourists' perceived value dimensions,behavioral intention and revisit intention.Additionally,the influence of tourists' perceived value dimensions on the behavioral intention and revisit intention was explored.The results show that the utilitarian value and enjoyment value significantly affect the inbound and domestic tourists' behavioral intention,while the convenience value and aesthetic value have no significant influence.The service value only significantly affects the domestic tourists' behavioral intention,and the aesthetic value only significantly affects the inbound tourists' behavioral intention.The utilitarian value,service value and enjoyment value significantly affect the inbound and domestic tourists' revisit intention,while the convenience value only significantly affects the domestic tourists' revisit intention.The utilitarian value is the primary factor affecting the inbound tourists' behavioral intention and revisit intention,and the perceived price has no significant effect on either inbound or domestic tourists' behavioral intention or revisit intention.The study explores the relationships between tourists' perceived value,behavioral intention and revisit intention,analyzes the divergence and causation,theoretically enriches the research field of tourism geography and behavioral geography,and has great practical significance to the sustainable development of mega events in China,including the further development of the Shanghai World Expo.展开更多

China＇s measures to these potential multi-faceted challenges were serious and various, including preventing terrorist attacks through international cooperation, lessening ethnic separatists＇ dissatisfaction and avoiding possible mass demonstration, reducing the chance of domestic mass disturbances, guaranteeing public transportation and aerospace security, making extensive use of advanced technologies and referring to other countries＇ expertise in security check, seeking help from other provinces bordering Shanghai, and strengthening control over explosive materials, etc.. It argues that spatial-related transformatio...This paper contributes to an in-depth understanding of how the mega- event contributes glurbanization of entrepreneurial city through a case study of Expo 2010 in Shanghai. It argues that spatial-related transformation is central to mega-event approach to glurbanization yet the soft power building is uncertain. It implies that the domestic impacts of mega- events are likely to be more profound than their global influences. This corresponds to the capitalist transformation from Fordist-Keynesianism to neoliberalism, in which mega-events such as Olympic Games and World Exposition have increasingly been incorporated into urban development plan to boost urban agenda. Although the profile of world fairs is reduced and does not have the international impacts that they used to have, Shanghai Expo 2010, the first Expo ever held in a developing country, is pinned hope on as the “Turn to Save the World Expo” and is unusually ambitious to bring opportunities in urban transformation. With a well-developed framework of glurbanization entailed by entrepreneurial city, this research enriches glurbanization theory by a thorough examination of Shanghai Expo. It finds that Expo-led landscape reconfiguration, spatial restructuring, and new sources provision effectively transformed Shanghai, propelling glurbanization in diminutive spatial scale. Yet, it remains powerless to impress the world as the voice of domestic propaganda is limited in the Western mainstream media. In all, the Expo case well exemplifies the power of mega-event approach to advancing local agenda, especially in spatial transformation per se, as well as its constraints in (re)shaping a global discourse.展开更多

A refined finite element model was ...Shanghai World Financial Center is one of the highest buildings in the world, of which cumulation of vertical deformation during construction is significant and worth investigating. A refined finite element model was developed to conduct full-process analysis of construction of super-high rise buildings like Shanghai World Financial Center, in which the discrete analysis method of time-varying structures and age-adjusted effective modulus method were both used. In the finite element analysis, the whole construction process was divided into a series of stages, each with a structural system that is a part of the whole structure and with different material parameters, geometrical parameters, loading and boundary conditions. The whole construction process of Shanghai World Financial Center in consideration of creep of concrete was simulated successfully by using the finite element model and the analytical method developed. With respect to different construction stage, the total vertical deformation, inter-floor compression deformation and the relative deformation between the outer frame and the core-wall were obtained through the analysis. The comparison between the results from the stage-wise full-process analysis of construction with and without considering the creep and the results from the conventional analysis of the whole building under the total load from all self-weight and construction applied to the structure "in one go" shows that the cumulative effect on the deformation from the construction process and the creep effect need to be considered in analyzing the deformation of Shanghai World Financial Center, and the super-high rise buildings suchlike. Finally, the simulation results correlate well with the monitoring results-a proof of the feasibility and the validity of this paper.展开更多
