THE western hills, with their grand peaks, forests and springs, clasp Beijing in its arms, protecting the area’s temples and stone sculptures. The beautiful, meandering Miaofeng Hill begins 50 kilometers northwest of Beijing. Beside its main peak is a group of towering stones which, from a distance look like blooming lotuses. Amid the towering stones, a single boulder glows in the sunshine. For this reason it is called Golden Lotus Peak. At one time the hill monks worshipped different deities. 展开更多
