The oriented chitosan films obtained from pre-sheared liquid crystalline chitosan/dichloroacetic acid (DCA) solutions were studied by means of polarized optical microscopy (POM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), infra-red dichroism technique and wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD). The sheer induced band texture in the film was found to correspond to the sinusoidal fibrillar microstructure along the shearing direction on the basis of POM and SEM observations. The sinusoidal fibril was found to be lying within the film plane. The model of chitosan molecular orientation in the pre-sheared film with band texture can be established assuming that the main chain orients in the shearing direction and the side group is perpendicular to the shearing direction. The WAXD azimuthal scanning at 2 theta = 20 degrees indicates that the (002) plane orients perpendicular to the shearing direction. 展开更多

The influence of welding speed on the joint microstructures of an austenitic stainless steel(ASS)produced by friction stir welding(FSW)was investigated. The FSW process was conducted using a rotational speed of 400 r/min and welding speeds of 50 and 150 mm/min.The study was carried out using electron backscattered diffraction(EBSD)technique in different regions of the resultant stir zones(SZs).The results show that the texture of the advancing side(AS)was mainly composed of C{001}〈110〉and cube{001}〈100〉texture components along with partial B/B{112}〈110〉component.Moving from the AS toward the center and the retreating side(RS),the cube texture component disappeared and the A;/A*{111}(112)component developed and predominated the other components.Higher welding speed greatly affected and decreased the intensity of the textures in the resultant SZs.Moreover, higher welding speed(lower heat input)resulted in lower frequency of cube texture in the AS. 展开更多

In ferritic stainless steels, a significant non-uniform recrystallization orientation and a substantial texture gradient usually occur, which can degrade the ridging resistance of the final sheets. To improve the homogeneity of the recrystallization orientation and reduce the texture gradient in ultra-purified 17%Cr ferritic stainless steel, in this work, we performed conventional and asymmetric rolling processes and conducted macro and micro-texture analyses to investigate texture evolution under different cold-rolling conditions. In the conventional rolling specimens, we observed that the deformation was not uniform in the thickness direction, whereas there was homogeneous shear deformation in the asymmetric rolling specimens as well as the formation of uniform recrystallized grains and random orientation grains in the final annealing sheets. As such, the ridging resistance of the final sheets was significantly improved by employing the asymmetric rolling process. This result indicates with certainty that the texture gradient and orientation inhomogeneity can be attributed to non-uniform deformation, whereas the uniform orientation gradient in the thickness direction is explained by the increased number of shear bands obtained in the asymmetric rolling process. 展开更多

The friction is the considerable boundary condition in bulk metal forming. In this paper, the ring compression test was used to evaluate the friction coefficient and factor in Coulomb friction model and Tresca friction model for the plastic deformation of aluminum alloy AA5052.The micro-macro analysis method combining surface morphology and micro-texture was used to explore the friction behaviors in AA5052 cold forming process. In general, the magnitude(μor m)of friction changes before and after a deformation threshold during ring compression. The maximum change rate of the magnitude(μor m)before and after the deformation threshold is close to 18.5%under the present experimental conditions, and the change rate decreases with increasing loading speed. The lubrication using MoS_(2) is better than that using oil at lower speeds(0.15 mm/s,1.5 mm/s),but the lubrications for MoS_(2) and oil are similar at higher speeds(15 mm/s).The surface roughness,three-dimensional topography, and surface texture of compressed ring have a sudden change around the deformation threshold, which deviate from the previous evolution trend. The increased friction after deformation threshold also promotes the formation of sufficient shear strain layer in the subsurface plane of the compressed ring, and then it hinders the formation of the typical deformation textures withβ-oriented line and promotes the appearance of shear textures such as{001}(110),{111}(uvw)and{hkl}{110)textures. 展开更多
