People’s lives have become easier and simpler as technology has proliferated.This is especially true with the Internet of Things(IoT).The biggest problem for blind people is figuring out how to get where they want to go.People with good eyesight need to help these people.Smart shoes are a technique that helps blind people find their way when they walk.So,a special shoe has been made to help blind people walk safely without worrying about running into other people or solid objects.In this research,we are making a new safety system and a smart shoe for blind people.The system is based on Internet of Things(IoT)technology and uses three ultrasonic sensors to allow users to hear and react to barriers.It has ultrasonic sensors and a microprocessor that can tell how far away something is and if there are any obstacles.Water and flame sensors were used,and a sound was used to let the person know if an obstacle was near him.The sensors use Global Positioning System(GPS)technology to detect motion from almost every side to keep an eye on them and ensure they are safe.To test our proposal,we gave a questionnaire to 100 people.The questionnaire has eleven questions,and 99.1%of the people who filled it out said that the product meets their needs. 展开更多

Congenital abnormalities of the kidney and urinary tract(CAKUT) include a wide range of abnormalities ranging from asymptomatic ectopic kidneys to life threatening renal agenesis(bilateral). Many of them are detected ... Congenital abnormalities of the kidney and urinary tract(CAKUT) include a wide range of abnormalities ranging from asymptomatic ectopic kidneys to life threatening renal agenesis(bilateral). Many of them are detected in the antenatal or immediate postnatal with a significant proportion identified in the adult population with varying degree of severity. CAKUT can be classified on embryological basis in to abnormalities in the renal parenchymal development, aberrant embryonic migration and abnormalities of the collecting system. Renal parenchymal abnormalities include multi cystic dysplastic kidneys, renal hypoplasia, number(agenesis or supernumerary), shape and cystic renal diseases. Aberrant embryonic migration encompasses abnormal location and fusion anomalies. Collecting system abnormalities include duplex kidneys and Pelvi ureteric junction obstruction. Ultrasonography(US) is typically the first imaging performed as it is easily available, noninvasive and radiation free used both antenatally and postnatally. Computed tomography(CT) and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) are useful to confirm the ultrasound detected abnormality, detection of complex malformations, demonstration of collecting system and vascular anatomy and more importantly for early detection of complications like renal calculi, infection and malignancies. As CAKUT are one of the leading causes of end stage renal disease, it is important for the radiologists to be familiar with the varying imaging appearances of CAKUT on US, CT and MRI, thereby helping in prompt diagnosis and optimal management. 展开更多

Forefoot pain is common in high-heeled shoe wearers due to the high pressure caused by the center of body mass moving forward and the increased arch height with heel elevation.Sufficient arch support could reduce the high pressure over forefoot.However,too much arch support could lead to abnormal foot alignment and pain over midfoot.Little information is reported on the relationship among plantar arch height,shank curve design and plantar pressure.This study aimed at quantifying the plantar arch height changes at different heel heights and investigating the effect of shank curve on plantar pressure distribution.The plantar arch height increased to(7.6±1.3) mm at heel height of 75 mm.The Chinese standard suggests the depth of last should be 8.5 mm for heel height of 75 mm.When a shank curve with higher depth of last(11 mm) was used,the peak pressure over forefoot further decreased in midstance phase,which might ease the forefoot problems,while the peak pressure over midfoot increased but not exceeded the discomfort pressure thresholds.To achieve a more ideal pressure distribution in high-heeled shoes,a higher than expected depth of last would be suggested that would not cause discomfort over midfoot. 展开更多

Diabetic foot is a common complication affecting more than one-fifth of patients with diabetes.If not treated in time,it may lead to diabetic foot ulcers or Charcot arthropathy.For the management of diabetic foot,shoe modifications and orthoses can be used to reduce pressure on the affected foot or provide the foot with increased stability.In addition,the shoe modifications and orthotic devices can relieve patient discomfort during walking.Appropriate shoe modifications include changing the insole material,modifying the heel height,adding a steel shank or rocker sole,and using in-depth shoes.Alternatively,a walking brace or ankle-foot orthosis can be used to reduce the pressure on the affected foot.The purpose of this narrative review was to provide a reference guide to support clinicians in prescribing shoe modifications and foot orthoses to treat diabetic foot ulcers and Charcot arthropathy. 展开更多

Systematic reduction of leg muscle activity throughout a standard assessment of running footwear

Purpose This study aimed to investigate whether there is a systematic change of leg muscle activity,as quantified by surface electromyography(EMG),throughout a standard running footwear assessment protocol at a predetermined running speed.Methods Thirty-one physically active adults(15 females and 16 males)completed 5 testing rounds consisting of overground running trials at a speed of 3.5 m/s.The level of muscle activity from 6 major leg muscles was recorded using surface EMG.The variables assessed were the EMG total intensity as a function of time and the cumulative EMG overall intensity.Systematic effects of the chronological testing round(independent variable)on the normalized EMG overall intensity(dependent variable)were examined using Friedman analysis of variates and post hoc pairwise Wilcoxon signed-rank tests(α=0.05).Results There was a systematic reduction in overall EMG intensity for all 6 muscles over the time course of the running protocol(p<0.001)until the fourth testing round when EMG intensities reached a steady state.The one exception was the biceps femoris muscle,which showed a significant reduction of EMG intensity during the stance phase(p<0.001)but not the swing phase(p=0.16).Conclusion While running at a predetermined speed,the neuromuscular system undergoes an adaptation process characterized by a progressive reduction in the activity level of major leg muscles.This process may represent an optimization strategy of the neuromuscular system towards a more energetically efficient running style.Future running protocols should include a familiarization period of at least 7 min or 600 strides of running at the predetermined speed. 展开更多

Most women like wearing high-heeled shoes for the benefit of sensuous attractiveness and self-esteem while musculoskeletal problems and gait patterns changes are often associated. The present study aimed to identify changes during the gait stance and swing phases in some lower limb muscles. In addition, abdominal muscle was included due to its importance in dynamic trunk stability, and lack of studies on the subject. Here, we found that the use of high-heeled shoes elicited not only the increasing of the electrical activity from the muscles involved in the gait cycle, but also altered the temporal sequence of their recruitment. As practical applications, these changes may be strategies to maintain stability and minimize risks of falling, but they are often associated to diseases. Women that use high-heeled shoes for prolonged time must apply specific muscle exercises to minimize its long-term effects. 展开更多

Substantial reductions in workplace high heel wear were found, whereby increasingly those who wear high heels regularly at work have freely chosen to do so, although certain issues of social expectations remain in certain sectors. Largely, freedom of choice has greatly increased in workplaces in line with increased public and employer awareness.? The uplift resistance calculation is an important basis for the construction decisions of the jack-up wind installation vessel and the design of the jacking system,and determines the operation risk and reliability in the installation process of the wind turbine. The influence factors of the pile shoe's penetration depth and uplift resistance are analyzed,and the calculation model and flow of the uplift resistance are given. Based on a construction example,the influence rules are analyzed for the change of the pile shoe's structural parameters on the penetration depth and uplift resistance.The analysis results show that the penetration depth is more sensitive to the width of the pile shoe,and the height has greater influence on the uplift resistance than the length and width of the spud. With the increase of the height,the uplift resistance may increase rapidly.Although the decreases of the length,width and height of the pile shoe may reduce the uplift resistance,the penetration depth may increase in the meantime. This will increase the pulling pile time and reduce the construction efficiency. So the parameters of the pile shoe should be optimized according to the adaptable geology condition so as to obtain the optimal uplift resistance and working efficiency. 展开更多
