Service-oriented air combat simulation architecture is proposed.The core design goal is high agility which represents the ability to accommodate the simulation requirements change.Its main idea is to design model units as services that can communicate and interoperate with any other services at runtime.A service is autonomous and is fully defined by a description contract which contains some combination of syntactic,semantic,and behavioral information.Based on the architecture,air combat simulation system can be described as an abstract composition of description contracts.It becomes concrete at run time as services that implement the constituent description contracts are discovered and bind.The whole process is a continuous run-time activity that responds to simulation needs and the availability of services.This provides benefits of implementation transparency and minimal dependency between models.Thus,simulation system can minimize the impact of change on it and increase the overall efficiency to respond to requirements change. 展开更多

Using modified Soil Conservation Service curve number method to simulate the role of forest in flood control in the upper reach of the Tingjiang River in China 被引量:3

To improve flood control efficiency and increase urban resilience to flooding,the impacts of forest type change on flood control in the upper reach of the Tingjiang River(URTR) were evaluated by a modified model based on the Soil Conservation Service curve number(SCS-CN) method. Parameters of the model were selected and determined according to the comprehensive analysis of model evaluation indexes. The first simulation of forest reconstruction scenario,namely a coniferous forest covering 59.35km^2 is replaced by a broad-leaved forest showed no significant impact on the flood reduction in the URTR. The second simulation was added with 61.75km^2 bamboo forest replaced by broad-leaved forest,the reduction of flood peak discharge and flood volume could be improved significantly. Specifically,flood peak discharge of 10-year return period event was reduced to 7-year event,and the reduction rate of small flood was 21%-28%. Moreover,the flood volume was reduced by 9%-14% and 18%-35% for moderate floods and small floods,respectively. The resultssuggest that the bamboo forest reconstruction is an effective control solution for small to moderate flood in the URTR,the effect of forest conversion on flood volume is increasingly reduced as the rainfall amount increases to more extreme magnitude. Using a hydrological model with scenarios analysis is an effective simulation approach in investigating the relationship between forest type change and flood control. This method would provide reliable support for flood control and disaster mitigation in mountainous cities. 展开更多

In recent years,Cloud Computing has become popular to facilitate the use of Modeling and Simulation(M&S)resources.Nevertheless,there are still various issues to solve,including the structure constrain of chosen web service frameworks,the sharing of varied resources in the Cloud,and the difficulties in reproducing experiments.We show a new architecture based on Cloud Computing and new modeling methods to deal with these issues.This layered architecture,called Cloud Architecture for Modeling and Simulation as a Service(CAMSaaS),simplifies the deployment of M&S resources as services in the Cloud.CAMSaaS supports hierarchical resource services,experimental frameworks,scalable infrastructure and makes everything as a service.We deploy varied M&S resources as services in the Cloud,and build a Modeling and Simulation as a Service(MSaaS)middleware called CloudRISE to manage a variety of M&S resources.We also use the experimental framework concept to simplify the management of experiment environments.We present a case study for crowd evacuation application using the architecture. 展开更多

Cloud computing is attracting an increasing number of simulation applications running in the virtualized cloud data center.These applications are submitted to the cloud in the form of simulation jobs.Meanwhile,the management and scheduling of simulation jobs are playing an essential role to offer efficient and high productivity computational service.In this paper,we design a management and scheduling service framework for simulation jobs in two-tier virtualization-based private cloud data center,named simulation execution as a service(SimEaaS).It aims at releasing users from complex simulation running settings,while guaranteeing the QoS requirements adaptively.Furthermore,a novel job scheduling algorithm named adaptive deadline-aware job size adjustment(ADaSA)algorithm is designed to realize high job responsiveness under QoS requirement for SimEaaS.ADaSA tries to make full use of the idle fragmentation resources by tuning the number of requested processes of submitted jobs in the queue adaptively,while guaranteeing that jobs’deadline requirements are not violated.Extensive experiments with trace-driven simulation are conducted to evaluate the performance of our ADaSA.The results show that ADaSA outperforms both cloud-based job scheduling algorithm KCEASY and traditional EASY in terms of response time(up to 90%)and bounded slow down(up to 95%),while obtains approximately equivalent deadline-missed rate.ADaSA also outperforms two representative moldable scheduling algorithms in terms of deadline-missed rate(up to 60%). 展开更多

As the speed of optical access networks soars with ever increasing multiple services, the service-supporting ability of optical access networks suffers greatly from the shortage of service awareness. Aiming to solve this problem, a hierarchy Bayesian model based services awareness mechanism is proposed for high-speed optical access networks. This approach builds a so-called hierarchy Bayesian model, according to the structure of typical optical access networks. Moreover, the proposed scheme is able to conduct simple services awareness operation in each optical network unit(ONU) and to perform complex services awareness from the whole view of system in optical line terminal(OLT). Simulation results show that the proposed scheme is able to achieve better quality of services(Qo S), in terms of packet loss rate and time delay. 展开更多
