The major reference point is the theory of Critical Band and its use for evaluating consonance of simple tones. On the basis of such empirical criterion, our aim consists in providing a method of estimating the value of consonance of complex tones, by taking account not only of the number of harmonics, but also of the intensity of the partials which contribute to forming the tone. By introducing a specific algorithm, the level of consonance of a chord of complex tones is expressed in terms both of frequency differences and sound intensity of the partials. The results give rise to a series of considerations and applications, ranging from displaying the order of consonance of all intervals within the octave up to evaluating the hierarchy of chords in the frame of a musical scale.展开更多

The observation of the ultra high frequency radar illustrates the systematic variations of the enhanced ion line and plasma line in altitude and intensity as a function of the pump frequency. The analysis shows that those altitude variations are due to the thermal effect, and the intensity variations of the enhanced ion line are dependent on whether or not the enhanced ion acoustic wave satisfy the Bragg condition of radar. Moreover, a prediction that if the enhancement in electron temperature is suppressed, those systematic variations will be absent, is given.展开更多

The generation of high resolution(30 m) crop intensity maps is an important method used to monitor these changes, but this is challenging because the temporal resolution of the 30-m image time series is low due to the long satellite revisit period and high cloud coverage. The recently launched Sentinel-2 satellite could provide optical images at 10–60 m resolution and thus improve the temporal resolution of the 30-m image time series. This study used harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2(HLS) data to identify crop intensity. The sixth polynomial function was used to fit the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) and enhanced vegetation index(EVI) curves. Then, 15-day NDVI and EVI time series were then generated from the fitted curves and used to generate the extent of croplands. Lastly, the first derivative of the fitted VI curves were used to calculate the VI peaks;spurious peaks were removed using artificially defined thresholds and crop intensity was generated by counting the number of remaining VI peaks. The proposed methods were tested in four study regions, with results showing that 15-day time series generated from the fitted curves could accurately identify cropland extent. Overall accuracy of cropland identification was higher than 95%. In addition, both the harmonized NDVI and EVI time series identified crop intensity accurately as the overall accuracies, producer’s accuracies and user’s accuracies of non-cropland, single crop cycle and double crop cycle were higher than 85%. NDVI outperformed EVI as identifying double crop cycle fields more accurately.展开更多

The high-order harmonic generation (HHG) of the initial state separately being the ground and excited states is presented. When the hardness parameter a in the soft Coulomb potential V(x) =-1√x^2+α is chosen to be small enough, the so-called hard Coulomb potential V(x)=1/|x| can be obtained. It is well known that the hard one-dimensional Coulomb atom has an unstable ground state with an energy eigenvalue of - 0.5 and it has no states corresponding to physical states in the true atoms, and has the first and second excited states being degenerate. The parity effects on the HHG can be seen from the first and second excited states of the hard one-dimensional Coulomb atom. The HHG spectra of the excited states from both the soft and hard Coulomb atom models are shown to have more complex structures and to be much stronger than the corresponding HHG spectrum of the ground state of the soft Coulomb model with a = 2 in the same laser field. Laser-induced non-resonant one-photon emission is also observed.展开更多

By using the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with a pair of dual integral equations in which the unknown variable is the jumps of the displacements across the crack surfaces. To solve the dual integral equations, the jumps of the displacements across the crack surface were expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials. The relations among the electric filed, the magnetic flux and the stress field were obtained. From the results, it can be obtained that the singular stresses in piezoelectric/piezomagnetic materials carry the same forms as those in a general elastic material for the dynamic anti-plane shear fracture problem. The shielding effect of two parallel cracks was also discussed.展开更多
