E-skills could be described as electronic education development, to assist ICT professionals to reach their future career goals and aim to help users boost their ICT skills. In a society that is expanding, it is also a crucial issue to take into account. Researchers have turned their attention to this topic because of its significance and contribution to the empowerment of graduates in digital education. Many scholars have proposed many methods for integrating e-skills into society with impressive results, but the rising rate of graduate unemployment in South Africa is gradually becoming a big worry in our society. A model based on Activity Theory (AT) and e-skills will be developed in our tertiary institution to equip graduates with skills that will increase their employability and provide more individualized work opportunities as part of this study’s effort to solve this issue. With the use of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and Cronbach’s Alpha for validity and reliability testing, the study will create an experimental performance to assess the approach taken to measure e-skills in tertiary institutions to empower graduates in South Africa. The study established that system development and e-skilled models for tertiary institutions are growing gradually, especially in South African institutions, that empower graduates with profitable employability with experiences to improve work operation in the industries. In conclusion, system development and e-skills are very demanding but important to empower graduate employability to determine competency in the professional workforce.展开更多

This article summarizes the methods and strategies used for the improvement and assessment of MEDM skill, and it attempts to establish a technical framework to inspire further ideas concerning MEDM skill improvement. The skill of MEDMs can be improved by parameter optimization(PO), which is an important step in model calibration. An effi cient approach to solve the problem of PO constrained by MEDMs is the global treatment of both sensitivity analysis and PO. Model validation is an essential step following PO, which validates the effi ciency of model calibration by analyzing and estimating the goodness-of-fi t of the optimized model. Additionally, by focusing on the degree of impact of various factors on model skill, model uncertainty analysis can supply model users with a quantitative assessment of model confi dence. Research on MEDMs is ongoing; however, improvement in model skill still lacks global treatments and its assessment is not integrated. Thus, the predictive performance of MEDMs is not strong and model uncertainties lack quantitative descriptions, limiting their application. Therefore, a large number of case studies concerning model skill should be performed to promote the development of a scientifi c and normative technical framework for the improvement of MEDM skill.展开更多

The SA tool provided a robust way to assess model skill in the system by comparing predictions and observations, and involved the com- putation of multiple skill metrics including correlation and error skills. User- and system-based acceptance criteria of skill metrics were applied to determine whether predictions were acceptable for the system. To achieve this, the tool produced a time series comparison plot, a skill score table, and an advanced sum- marized diagram to effectively demonstrate the multiple skill scores. Moreover, the SA was conducted to evaluate both atmospheric and hydrodynamic forecast variables. For the atmospheric variables, acceptable error criteria were preferable to acceptable correlation criteria over short timescales, since the mean square error overwhelmed the observation variance. Conversely, for the hydrodynamic variables, acceptable root mean square percentage error (e.g., perms) criteria were preferable to acceptable error (e.g., erms) criteria owing to the spatially variable tidal intensity around the Korean Peninsula. Furthermore, the SA indicated that predetermined acceptance error criteria were appropriate to satisfy a target central frequency (fc) for which errors fell within the specified limits (i.e., the .fc equals 70%).展开更多

Although ensemble mean forecast skill has been studied for many ensemble prediction systems(EPSs) and different cases, theoretical analysis regarding ensemble mean forecast skill has rarely been investigated, especially quantitative analysis without any assumptions of ensemble members. This paper investigates fundamental questions about the ensemble mean, such as the advantage of the ensemble mean over individual members, the potential skill of the ensemble mean, and the skill gain of the ensemble mean with increasing ensemble size. The average error coefficient between each pair of ensemble members is the most important factor in ensemble mean forecast skill, which determines the mean-square error of ensemble mean forecasts and the skill gain with increasing ensemble size. More members are useful if the errors of the members have lower correlations with each other, and vice versa. The theoretical investigation in this study is verified by application with the T213 EPS. A typical EPS has an average error coefficient of between 0.5 and 0.8; the 15-member T213 EPS used here reaches a saturation degree of 95%(i.e., maximum 5% skill gain by adding new members with similar skill to the existing members) for 1–10-day lead time predictions, as far as the mean-square error is concerned.展开更多

Skillful and reliable NWP of convective storms could allow for severe weather warnings with longer lead times, as opera- tional forecasters begin to incorporate convective-scale fore- casts into severe weather forecast operations (Stensrud et al., 2009, 2013). This would then provide vulnerable individuals and industries with more time to seek shelter and/or mitigate the impact of severe weather hazards.展开更多

The MHW forecasts are demonstrated to be skillful on seasonal-annual time scales, particularly in tropical oceans. The forecast skill of the MHWs over the tropical Pacific Ocean(TPO) remains high at lead times of 1–24 months, indicating a forecast better than random chance for up to two years. The forecast skill is subject to the spring predictability barrier of El Nino-Southern Oscillation(ENSO). The forecast skills for the MHWs over the tropical Indian Ocean(TIO), tropical Atlantic Ocean(TAO), and tropical Northwest Pacific(NWP) are lower than that in the TPO. A reliable forecast at lead times of up to two years is shown over the TIO, while a shorter reliable forecast window(less than 17 months) occurs for the TAO and NWP.Additionally, the forecast skills for the TIO, TAO, and NWP are seasonally dependent. Higher skills for the TIO and TAO appear in boreal spring, while a greater skill for the NWP emerges in late summer-early autumn. Further analyses suggest that ENSO serves as a critical source of predictability for MHWs over the TIO and TAO in spring and MHWs over the NWP in summer.展开更多

文摘Background:Physical activity(PA)in the early years is associated with a range of positive health outcomes.Fundamental motor skill(FMS)competence is associated with PA and is theorized to be driven by PA in the early years and vice versa in mid to late childhood. However,to date,no studies have meta-analyzed the association between PA and FMS in the early years. Methods:Six electronic databases were searched for articles published up to April 2019.Cross-sectional and longitudinal studies were included if they targeted children(ages 3-6 year)as the population of the study and assessed the association between objectively measured PA and FMS.Total FMS,total physical activity(TPA),and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA)data were meta-analyzed using a random effects model. Results:We identified 24,815 titles and abstracts. In total,19 studies met the inclusion criteria, including 14 cross-sectional and 4 longitudinal studies,as well as 1 study with cross-sectional and longitudinal analysis. There was a significant but small positive association between FMS and MVPA(r=0.20,95%confidence interval(CI):0.13-0.26)and TPA(r=0.20,95%CI:0.12-0.28).Findings from longitudinal studies revealed that PA drives FMS in early childhood.Mediation was explored in 1 study, which found that perceived motor competence did not mediate the association between FMS and PA.Conclusion:Using a meta-analysis,this study is the first to show a positive association between FMS,MVPA,and TPA in the early years of childhood, suggesting that the association begins at an early age.Limited evidence from longitudinal studies supports the theory that PA drives FMS in the early years of childhood.More evidence is needed from large studies to track PA and FMS until mid to late childhood and to explore the mediators of this association.
文摘Objective:Skill competence is essential for nursing students and experiential teaching method has become increasingly popular in China’s nursing education. To systematically evaluate the effects of experiential teaching method on the development of nursing students’skill competence, and to provide evidence for nursing education. Methods:The China National Knowledge Infrastructure,VIP,Wanfang Data,PubMed,and Web of Science databases were searched from their inception until November 28,2019.We screened the studies according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, extracted the data, and assessed the quality. Then,a meta-analysis was conducted. Results:Totally 15 studies were included, and 1,633 nursing students were analyzed by Review Manager5.3 and Stata15.1 software. The results show that the experiential teaching method can significantly improve nursing students’nursing skills such as training(SMD=1.05,95%CI:0.95–1.16,P=0.000),learning interest(ES=0.93,95%CI:0.79–1.06),ability to analyze and solve problems(ES=0.75,95%CI:0.55–0.94),ability to judge and innovative thinking(ES=1.01,95%CI:0.77–1.25),abilities of understanding and perception(ES=0.59,95%CI:0.34–0.83),and teaching satisfaction(ES=1.26,95%CI:1.13–1.4).Conclusions:The results suggest that the experiential teaching method is more effective for the nursing students’skill competence than traditional teaching in China. However, due to the heterogeneity and bias risk,a large sample and high-quality studies are needed in future to confirm its effectiveness.

文摘Marine ecosystem dynamic models(MEDMs) are important tools for the simulation and prediction of marine ecosystems. Therefore, a large number of case studies concerning model skill should be performed to promote the development of a scientifi c and normative technical framework for the improvement of MEDM skill.
文摘Objective:Training young physicians in gastrointestinal endoscopy through virtual reality(VR)simulators has become popular. It is important to evaluate the benefits and usefulness of this technology for teaching endoscopic skills. The objective of this literature review is to understand the benefits of VR technology through quantitative and qualitative examination of learning outcomes. Methods:A literature search of 7 databases was conducted.Studies which compared the effects of learning through VR simulation and another method of learning were included. In addition, studies were included if they evaluated learning outcomes on clinical patients.Participants could be medical residents, fellows, physicians,or nurses.Common outcomes measured across studies included subjective overall performance scores, total procedure times, rate of successful procedure completion, error rates, patient pain or discomfort, and measures of independence. Results:A total of 22 studies were included.Overall,VR simulation training was seen to be comparable or significantly better than clinical training,no training, other types of simulation, and another form of VR training. Many authors reported increasing patient safety, reducing stress and time constraints, and shortening the learning curve as advantages of VR simulation training. However, this form of training is also expensive and may result in the learning of bad habits. Conclusion:VR simulation technology can be a valuable form of educating endoscopy novices if properly supervised during training, and if there is also integration of clinical training.

文摘A standard skill assessment (SA) tool was developed and implemented to evaluate the performance of op- erational forecast models in the Korea operational oceanographic system. Furthermore, the SA indicated that predetermined acceptance error criteria were appropriate to satisfy a target central frequency (fc) for which errors fell within the specified limits (i.e., the .fc equals 70%).

文摘Ensemble forecasting has become the prevailing method in current operational weather forecasting. A typical EPS has an average error coefficient of between 0.5 and 0.8; the 15-member T213 EPS used here reaches a saturation degree of 95%(i.e., maximum 5% skill gain by adding new members with similar skill to the existing members) for 1–10-day lead time predictions, as far as the mean-square error is concerned.
文摘Adolescents are considered one of the most vulnerable groups affected by suicide.Rapid changes in adolescents’physical and mental states,as well as in their lives, significantly and undeniably increase the risk of suicide.Psychological, social, family, individual, and environmental factors are important risk factors for suicidal behavior among teenagers and may contribute to suicide risk through various direct, indirect,or combined pathways.Social-emotional learning is considered a powerful intervention measure for addressing the crisis of adolescent suicide. When deliberately cultivated, fostered, and enhanced,selfawareness,self-management,social awareness, interpersonal skills, and responsible decision-making,as the five core competencies of social-emotional learning, can be used to effectively target various risk factors for adolescent suicide and provide necessary mental and interpersonal support.Among numerous suicide intervention methods,school-based interventions based on social-emotional competence have shown great potential in preventing and addressing suicide risk factors in adolescents. The characteristics of school-based interventions based on social-emotional competence, including their appropriateness,necessity,cost-effectiveness,comprehensiveness,and effectiveness, make these interventions an important means of addressing the crisis of adolescent suicide. To further determine the potential of school-based interventions based on social-emotional competence and better address the issue of adolescent suicide, additional financial support should be provided, the combination of socialemotional learning and other suicide prevention programs within schools should be fully leveraged, and cooperation between schools and families, society, and other environments should be maximized. These efforts should be considered future research directions.

文摘To support navigational and environmental applications in coastal waters, marine opera- tional forecast models must be developed and implemented. A forecast model must guarantee that it is scientifically sound and practically robust for performance and must meet or excel all target frequencies or durations before being released to the public. This paper discusses the standard policies and procedures for evaluation of operational marine forecast models. The primary variables to be evaluated are water lev- els, currents and water density (water temperature and salinity).
文摘BACKGROUND Vestibular dysfunction(VH)is a common concomitant symptom of late peri-pheral vestibular lesions, which can be trauma, poisoning, infection, heredity, and neurodegeneration, but about 50%of the causes are unknown. The study uses the information-motivation-behavioral skills(IMB)model for health education, effectively improve the quality of life, increase their self-confidence,reduce anxiety and depression, and effectively improve the psychological state of patients.AIM To explore the effect of health education based on the IMB model on the degree of vertigo, disability, anxiety and depression in patients with unilateral vestibular hypofunction.METHODS The clinical data of 80 patients with unilateral vestibular hypofunction from January 2019 to December 2021 were selected as the retrospective research objects, and they were divided into the control group and the observation group with 40 cases in each group according to different nursing methods.Among them, the control group was given routine nursing health education and guidance, and the observation group was given health education and guidance based on the IMB model. The changes in self-efficacy,anxiety and depression, and quality of life of patients with unilateral VH were compared between the two groups.RESULTS There was no significant difference in General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES)scale scores between the two groups of patients before nursing(P>0.05),which was comparable;after nursing, the GSES scale scores of the two groups were higher than those before nursing. The nursing group was higher than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the scores of Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS)and anxiety and depression subscales between the two groups before nursing(P>0.05).After nursing, the HADS score, anxiety, and depression subscale scores of the two groups of patients were lower than those before nursing, and the nursing group was lower than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After nursing, the Dizziness Handicap Inventory(DHI)scale and DHI-P,DHI-E and DHI-F scores in the two groups were decreased, and the scores in the nursing group were lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Health education based on the IMB model can effectively improve patients'quality of life, increase self-efficacy of patients with unilateral vestibular hypofunction, enhance patients'confidence, enable patients to resume normal work and life as soon as possible, reduce patients'anxiety and depression, and effectively improve patients'psychological status.

文摘The El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)ensemble prediction skills of the Beijing Climate Center(BCC)climate prediction system version 2(BCC-CPS2)are examined for the period from 1991 to 2018.The upper-limit ENSO predictability of this system is quantified by measuring its“potential”predictability using information-based metrics, whereas the actual prediction skill is evaluated using deterministic and probabilistic skill measures. Results show that:(1)In general, the current operational BCC model achieves an effective 10-month lead predictability for ENSO.Moreover, prediction skills are up to 10–11 months for the warm and cold ENSO phases, while the normal phase has a prediction skill of just 6 months.(2)Similar to previous results of the intermediate coupled models, the relative entropy(RE)with a dominating ENSO signal component can more effectively quantify correlation-based prediction skills compared to the predictive information(PI)and the predictive power(PP).(3)An evaluation of the signal-dependent feature of the prediction skill scores suggests the relationship between the“Spring predictability barrier(SPB)”of ENSO prediction and the weak ENSO signal phase during boreal spring and early summer.

文摘The National Health Interview Survey(NHIS)shows that there are 13.2%of children at the age of 11 to 17 who are suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD),globally. The treatment methods for ADHD are either psycho-stimulant medications or cognitive therapy. These traditional methods, namely therapy, need a large number of visits to hospitals and include medication.Neurogames could be used for the effective treatment of ADHD.It could be a helpful tool in improving children and ADHD patients’cognitive skills by using Brain–Computer Interfaces(BCI).BCI enables the user to interact with the computer through brain activity using Electroencephalography(EEG),which can be used to control different computer applications by processing acquired brain signals. This paper proposes a system based on neurofeedback that can improve cognitive skills such as attention level, mediation level, and spatial memory. The proposed system consists of a puzzle game where its complexity increases with each level.EEG signals were acquired using the Neurosky headset;then sent the signals to the designed gaming environment. This neurofeedback system was tested on 10 different subjects, and their performance was calculated using different evaluation measures. The results show that this game improves player overall performance from 74%to 98%by playing each game level.
文摘BACKGROUND The incidence of cholecystolithiasis is on the rise.Use of information, motivation, and behavioral skills can play a positive role in promoting changes in individual health behaviors. However, reports on the effects of information-motivationbehavioral(IMB)skills model based high-quality nursing as a perioperative nursing intervention for patients with gallstones are nonexistent.AIM To explore the application of IMB skills model based high-quality nursing in patients with gallstones.METHODS Two hundred and sixteen patients with cholecystolithiasis treated at our hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were enrolled and divided into a control, highquality, and combined nursing groups, with 72 patients in each group. The control,high-quality,and combination groups received conventional,high-quality,and IMB skills model based perioperative nursing services, respectively.Differences in clinical indicators, stress levels, degree of pain, emotional state, and quality of life were observed, and complications and nursing satisfaction among the three groups were evaluated.RESULTS After nursing, the time to recovery of gastrointestinal function in the high-quality and combined nursing groups was significantly shorter than that of the control group, with the recovery of gastrointestinal function being the fastest in the combined nursing group(P<0.05).After nursing intervention, cortisol and norepinephrine levels in the high-quality and combined nursing groups were closer to normal than those of the control group 24 h after surgery, with the combined nursing group having the closest to normal levels(P<0.05).After 3 and 7 d of intervention, the patients’pain significantly improved, which was more prominent in the highquality and combination groups.Meanwhile, the pain score in the combination group was significantly lower than those of the control and high-quality nursing groups(P<0.05).After nursing intervention, the emotional states of all patients improved, and the scores of patients in the combination group were significantly lower than those of the control and high-quality nursing groups. The quality of life of patients in the high-quality and combined nursing groups significantly improved after nursing intervention compared to that of the control group, with the combined nursing group having the highest quality of life score. After intervention, the incidence of complications in the high-quality and combination groups was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05),but the difference between the combination and high-quality nursing groups was not significant.Nursing satisfaction of patients in the high-quality and combination groups was significantly higher than that of the control group, with the nursing satisfaction being the highest in the combination group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION IMB skills model based nursing can improve surgical stress levels, degrees of pain, emotional state, quality of life, and nursing satisfaction of patients with gallstones and reduce the incidence of complications.
文摘Forecasting convective storms using NWP models is an important goal and a highly active area of ongoing research. Skillful and reliable NWP of convective storms could allow for severe weather warnings with longer lead times, as opera- tional forecasters begin to incorporate convective-scale fore- casts into severe weather forecast operations (Stensrud et al., 2009, 2013). This would then provide vulnerable individuals and industries with more time to seek shelter and/or mitigate the impact of severe weather hazards.

According to different situations we propose some algorithms to plan courses and to find the subjects that require to be trained.
文摘Objective:To summarize and produce aggregated evidence on the effect of simulation-based teaching on skill performance in the nursing profession.Simulation is an active learning strategy involving the use of various resources to assimilate the real situation. It enables learners to improve their skills and knowledge in a coordinated environment. Methods:Systematic literature search of original research ar ticles was carried out through Google Scholar,Medline, and Cochrane Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature(CINAHL)databases.Studies conducted on simulation-based teaching and skill performance among nursing students or clinical nursing staff from 2010 to 2019,and published in the English language, were included in this study.Methodological quality was assessed by Joanna Briggs Institute, and the risk of bias was also assessed by Cochrane risk of bias and the risk of bias assessment tool for non-randomized studies(ROBINS-I)checklists.Results:Initially,638 titles were obtained from 3 sources, and 24 original studies with 2209 study par ticipants were taken for the final analysis.Of the total studies,14(58.3%)used single group prep post design,7(29.1%)used high fidelity simulator(HFS),and 7(29.1%)used a virtual simulator(VS).Twenty(83.3%)studies reported improved skill performance following simulation-based teaching.Simulation-based teaching improves skill performance among types of groups(single or double),study regions, high fidelity(HF),low fidelity(LF),and standard patient(SP)users. But the effect over virtual and medium fidelity simulators was not statistically significant.Overall,simulation-based teaching improves the skill performance score among the experimental group(d=1.01,95%confidence interval[CI][0.69–1.33],Z=6.18,P<0.01,93.9%).Significant heterogeneity and publication bias were observed during the pooled analysis. Conclusions:Simulation did improve skill performance among the intervention groups, but the conclusion is uncer tain due to the significant heterogeneity. The large extent of difference among original research has necessitated the development of well-defined assessment methods for skills and standardized simulation set-up for proper assessment of their effects.

文摘Using monthly observations and ensemble hindcasts of the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology Climate Forecast System(NUIST-CFS1.0) for the period 1983–2020, this study investigates the forecast skill of marine heatwaves(MHWs) over the globe and the predictability sources of the MHWs over the tropical oceans. Further analyses suggest that ENSO serves as a critical source of predictability for MHWs over the TIO and TAO in spring and MHWs over the NWP in summer.

文摘Upper ocean heat content(OHC)has been widely recognized as a crucial precursor to high-impact climate variability, especially for that being indispensable to the long-term memory of the ocean.Assessing the predictability of OHC using state-of-the-art climate models is invaluable for improving and advancing climate forecasts.Recently developed retrospective forecast experiments, based on a Community Earth System Model ensemble prediction system, offer a great opportunity to comprehensively explore OHC predictability. Our results indicate that the skill of actual OHC predictions varies across different oceans and diminishes as the lead time of prediction extends. The spatial distribution of the actual prediction skill closely resembles the corresponding persistence skill, indicating that the persistence of OHC serves as the primary predictive signal for its predictability. The decline in actual prediction skill is more pronounced in the Indian and Atlantic oceans than in the Pacific Ocean, particularly within tropical regions.Additionally, notable seasonal variations in the actual prediction skills across different oceans align well with the phase-locking features of OHC variability. The potential predictability of OHC generally surpasses the actual prediction skill at all lead times, highlighting significant room for improvement in current OHC predictions, especially for the North Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.Achieving such improvements necessitates a collaborative effort to enhance the quality of ocean observations, develop effective data assimilation methods, and reduce model bias.
