In this paper,a compound sliding mode velocity control scheme with a new exponential reaching law(NERL)with thrust ripple observation strategy is proposed to obtain a high performance velocity loop of the linear permanent magnet synchronous motor(LPMSM)control system.A sliding mode velocity controller based on NERL is firstly discussed to restrain chattering of the conventional exponential reaching law(CERL).Furthermore,the unavoidable thrust ripple caused by the special structure of linear motor will bring about velocity fluctuation and reduced control performance.Thus,a thrust ripple compensation strategy on the basis of extend Kalman filter(EKF)theory is proposed.The estimated thrust ripple will be introduced into the sliding mode velocity controller to optimize the control accuracy and robustness.The effectiveness of the proposal is validated with experimental results. 展开更多

Purpose–This study aims to propose an adaptive fractional-order sliding mode controller to solve the problem of train speed tracking control and position interval control under disturbance environment in moving block system,so as to improve the tracking efficiency and collision avoidance performance.Design/methodology/approach–The mathematical model of information interaction between trains is established based on algebraic graph theory,so that the train can obtain the state information of adjacent trains,and then realize the distributed cooperative control of each train.In the controller design,the sliding mode control and fractional calculus are combined to avoid the discontinuous switching phenomenon,so as to suppress the chattering of sliding mode control,and a parameter adaptive law is constructed to approximate the time-varying operating resistance coefficient.Findings–The simulation results show that compared with proportional integral derivative(PID)control and ordinary sliding mode control,the control accuracy of the proposed algorithm in terms of speed is,respectively,improved by 25%and 75%.The error frequency and fluctuation range of the proposed algorithm are reduced in the position error control,the error value tends to 0,and the operation trend tends to be consistent.Therefore,the control method can improve the control accuracy of the system and prove that it has strong immunity.Originality/value–The algorithm can reduce the influence of external interference in the actual operating environment,realize efficient and stable tracking of trains,and ensure the safety of train control. 展开更多

Control over impact time constraints of guidance law(ITCG) is derived by using sliding mode control(SMC) and Lyapunov stability theorem. The expected impact time is realized by using the notion of attack process and estimated time-to-go to design sliding mode surface(SMS). ITCG contains equivalent and discontinuous guidance laws, once state variables arrive at SMS,the equivalent guidance law keeps the state variables on SMS,then the discontinuous guidance law enforces state variables to move and reach SMS. The singularity problem of ITCG is also analyzed. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation results are given to test the effectiveness of ITCG designed in this paper. 展开更多

Implementation of efficient vibration control schemes for seismically excited structures is becoming more and more important in recent years.In this study,the influence of different control schemes on the dynamic performance of a frame structure excited by El Centro wave,with an emphasis on reaching law based control strategies,is examined.Reaching law refers to the reachable problem and criteria for the sliding state of a control system.Three reaching laws are designed to present different sliding mode control strategies by incorporating a state space model that describes structural dynamic characteristics of a frame structure.Both intact and damaged structures are studied by using the aforementioned control strategies.The influence of different structural damage extents,control locations and reaching law based control methods are further investigated.The results show that the structure can be well controlled using the sliding mode strategy when the induced structural damage extent does not exceed the standard percentage for considering the structure was damaged,which is 20%reduction in structure stiffness,as reported in the literature.The control effectiveness is more satisfactory if the control location is the same as the direction of external excitation.Furthermore,to study the chattering phenomenon of the sliding mode control method,approximation and detail components extracted from the phase plots of the sliding mode control system are compared via wavelet transform at different scales.The results show that for the same type of control law,the system behaves with similar chattering phenomenon. 展开更多

In this paper, a novel fuzzy sliding mode control(FSMC) guidance law with terminal constraints of miss distance, impact angle and acceleration is presented for a constant speed missile against the stationary or slowly moving target. The proposed guidance law combines the sliding mode control algorithm with a fuzzy logic control scheme for the lag-free system and the first-order lag system. Through using Lyapunov stability theory, we prove the sliding surface converges to zero in finite time. Furthermore, considering the uncertain information and system disturbances, the guidance gains are on-line optimized by fuzzy logic technique. Numerical simulations are performed to demonstrate the performance of the FSMC guidance law and the results illustrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed guidance law. 展开更多

Sliding mode control(SMC) becomes a common tool in designing robust nonlinear control systems, due to its inherent characteristics such as insensitivity to system uncertainties and fast dynamic response.Two modes are involved in the SMC operation, namely reaching mode and sliding mode.In the reaching mode, the system state is forced to reach the sliding surface in a finite time.The major drawback of the SMC approach is the occurrence of chattering in the sliding mode, which is undesirable in most applications.Generally, the trade-off between chattering reduction and fast reaching time must be considered in the conventional SMC design.This paper proposes SMC design with a novel reaching law called the exponential rate reaching law(ERRL) to reduce chattering, and the control structure of the converter is designed based on the multiinput SMC that is applied to a three-phase AC/DC power converter.The simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique. 展开更多

First, the new exponential nonsingular terminal sliding surface is designed by using the advantages of nonsingular terminal sliding mode finite time convergence and strong robustness. Second, to solve the problem of a long convergence time and the serious shaking of the traditional reaching law, a new fast reaching law model with characteristics of the second-order sliding mode is put forward. Third,considering the existence of complex disturbances, the super twisting sliding mode disturbance observer is used to estimate and compensate the composite disturbances online. Finally, compared with the traditional nonsingular fast sliding mode control, simulation results show that the proposed control scheme achieves a good control performance. 展开更多

A fast self-adapting high-order sliding mode(FSHOSM)controller is designed for a class of nonlinear systems with unknown uncertainties.As for uncertainty-free nonlinear system,a new switching condition is introduced into the standard geometric homogeneity.Different from the existing geometric homogeneity method,both state variables and their derivatives are considered to bring a reasonable effective switching condition.As a result,a faster convergence rate of state variables is achieved.Furthermore,based on the integral sliding mode(ISM)and above geometric homogeneity,a self-adapting high-order sliding mode(HOSM)control law is proposed for a class of nonlinear systems with uncertainties.The resulting controller allows the closed-loop system to conduct with the expected properties of strong robustness and fast convergence.Stable analysis of the nonlinear system is also proved based on the Lyapunov approach.The effectiveness of the resulting controller is verified by several simulation results. 展开更多

An adaptive terminal sliding mode control (SMC) technique is proposed to deal with the tracking problem for a class of high-order nonlinear dynamic systems. It is shown that a function augmented sliding hyperplane can be used to develop a new terminal sliding mode for high-order nonlinear systems. A terminal SMC controller based on Lyapunov theory is designed to force the state variables of the closed-loop system to reach and remain on the terminal sliding mode, so that the output tracking error then converges to zero in finite time which can be set arbitrarily. An adaptive mechanism is introduced to estimate the unknown parameters of the upper bounds of system uncertainties. The estimates are then used as controller parameters so that the effects of uncertain dynamics can be eliminated. It is also shown that the stability of the closed-loop system can be guaranteed with the proposed control strategy. The simulation of a numerical example is provided to show the effectiveness of the new method. 展开更多

In modern vehicles, electronic throttle(ET) has been widely utilized to control the airflow into gasoline engine. To solve the control difficulties with an ET, such as strong nonlinearity,unknown model parameters and input saturation constraints,an adaptive sliding-mode tracking control strategy for an ET is presented. Compared with the existing control strategies for an ET, input saturation constraints and parameter uncertainties are adequately considered in the proposed control strategy. At first, the nonlinear dynamic model for control of an ET is described. According to the dynamical model, the nonlinear adaptive sliding-mode tracking control method is presented,where parameter adaptive laws and auxiliary design system are employed. Parameter adaptive law is given to estimate the unknown parameter with an ET. An auxiliary system is designed,and its state is utilized in the tracking control method to handle the input saturation. Stability proof and analysis of the adaptive sliding-mode control method is performed by using Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, the reliability and feasibility of the proposed control strategy are evaluated by computer simulation.Simulation research shows that the proposed sliding-mode control strategy can provide good control performance for an ET. 展开更多

In this article, an adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control (AFSMC) scheme is derived for robotic systems. In the AFSMC design, the sliding mode control (SMC) concept is combined with fuzzy control strategy to obtain a model-free fuzzy sliding mode control. The equivalent controller has been substituted for by a fuzzy system and the uncertainties are estimated on-line. The approach of the AFSMC has the learning ability to generate the fuzzy control actions and adaptively compensates for the uncertainties. Despite the high nonlinearity and coupling effects, the control input of the proposed control algorithm has been decoupled leading to a simplified control mechanism for robotic systems. Simulations have been carried out on a two link planar robot. Results show the effectiveness of the proposed control system. 展开更多

We propose a class of control methods based on a novel logarithmic fast non singular terminal sliding surface a new fast reaching law and extended state disturbance observer. A logarithmic non singular terminal sliding surface is used owing to its convergence in finite time and significant robustness. A fast reaching law with two order characteristics of the sliding mode is designed. This reaching law can be used reduce the convergence time of traditional reaching law. In addition the extended state disturbance observer is utilized for online estimation and to compensate for system disturbance. The simulation experiment results show that the control strategy proposed in this paper outperforms the traditional non singular fast sliding mode control. 展开更多

In order to improve system response speed and stability,a sliding-mode variable-structure control based on a feedback linearization theory is analyzed in this research. A standardized system model is established and linearized by the feedback linearization theory,and the input dimension is reduced through the relationship between variables which has simplified the linearization process. Then the sliding-mode controller using an exponential reaching law is designed and the Lyapunov stability of this algorithm is verified. The simulation results show that the sliding-mode variable-structure controller based on the feedback linearization theory can improve system response speed,reduce overshoot and achieve stronger robustness,so the vehicle speed control requirements can be satisfied well. 展开更多

Based on the conventional backstepping sliding mode control and the assumption of a two time-scale separation of missile dynamics, a graded sliding mode controller is designed with two sub-sliding surfaces which have invariability to external disturbances and parameter perturbations, and a matrix which comprises three first order low pass filters is introduced to prevent “explosion of terms”. Owing to the upper bounds of the uncertainties are difficult to obtain in advance, adaptive laws are introduced to estimate the values of the uncertainties in real-time.
