The Smart Project for “Clean Your Plate” Campaign has been designed and implemented to address food waste on campus. The project takes advantage of technologies such as IoT, dynamic QR code, and visual recognition. Smart devices for clear plate recognition can be installed in multiple locations in campus cafeterias and canteens. Users can login onto a public account and a Mini Program for points reward, exchange and sale. Combining offline clear plate recognition and online points exchange, the project encourages food saving and reduces human cost for university canteens.展开更多

The healthcare sector in Saudi Arabia is undergoing significant transformation, and the integration of smart technologies has the potential to revolutionize healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes, and enhance the overall healthcare experience. However, several challenges need to be addressed in order to fully leverage the benefits of smart technologies in healthcare infrastructure development. This research identifies and analyzes these challenges while also highlighting the opportunities that arise from the adoption of smart technologies in the Saudi Arabian healthcare system. The findings contribute to the understanding of the current state of healthcare infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and provide insights into the strategies and policies required to overcome challenges and maximize the benefits of smart technologies in healthcare.展开更多

China's mechanical manufacturing capabilities picked up after the foundation of new China with the aid of the former Soviet Union. From 1960s onwards, the industry was mainly dependent on self-reliance. In 1978 China's higher education was resumed and universities began to enroll students. As a result of economic reforms and opening up, China's manufacturing industry began to learn from foreign examples,展开更多

A smart grid is a power transmission and distribution network that can incorporate millions of sensors all connected through an advanced, two-way communications and data acquisition system to provide real-time monitoring, diagnosis and control. Smart grid enables more efficient, reliable and secure energy service, facilitate grid-integration of renewable systems and energy storage, and better routing of power and demand management. The move to a smarter grid promises to change the industry's entire business model and its relationship with all stakeholders, involving and affecting power companies, regulators, energy service providers, technology and automation vendors, and all consumers of electric power.展开更多

In Canada...Traffic intersections are incredibly dangerous for drivers and pedestrians. Statistics from both Canada and the U.S. show a high number of fatalities and serious injuries related to crashes at intersections. In Canada, during 2019, the National Collision Database shows that 28% of traffic fatalities and 42% of serious injuries occurred at intersections. Likewise, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) found that about 40% of the estimated 5,811,000 accidents in the U.S. during the year studied were intersection-related crashes. In fact, a major survey by the car insurance industry found that nearly 85% of drivers could not identify the correct action to take when approaching a yellow traffic light at an intersection. One major reason for these accidents is the “yellow light dilemma,” the ambiguous situation where a driver should stop or proceed forward when unexpectedly faced with a yellow light. This situation is even further exacerbated by the tendency of aggressive drivers to inappropriately speed up on the yellow just to get through the traffic light. A survey of Canadian drivers conducted by the Traffic Injury Research Foundation found that 9% of drivers admitted to speeding up to get through a traffic light. Another reason for these accidents is the increased danger of making a left-hand turn on yellow. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA), left turns occur in approximately 22.2% of collisions—as opposed to just 1.2% for right turns. Moreover, a study by CNN found left turns are three times as likely to kill pedestrians than right turns. The reason left turns are so much more likely to cause an accident is because they take a driver against traffic and in the path of oncoming cars. Additionally, most of these left turns occur at the driver’s discretion—as opposed to the distressingly brief left-hand arrow at busy intersections. Drive Safe Now proposes a workable solution for reducing the number of accidents occurring during a yellow light at intersections. We believe this fairly simple solution will save lives, prevent injuries, reduce damage to public and private property, and decrease insurance costs.展开更多

文摘While logistics comprises an important part of tunneling costs,it is generally not considered a lever of performance but rather a con-straint to a project’s progress. This study presents some insights on how smart technology can impact the tunneling industry. The impact is even greater because of the complexity of the tunneling supply chain, and smart technology could help support this process. Finally,we discuss how the nature of the tunneling industry invites stakeholders to develop a common understanding of the project prior to con-struction to successfully deploy smart technology during the use or maintenance phase.

文摘Agriculture is facing increasing challenges due to several factors such as population growth and climate change.Smart Farming is enabling the use of detailed digital information to guide decisions along the agricultural value chain.New technologies and solutions have been applied to provide alternatives to assist in information gathering and processing, and thereby contribute to increased agricultural productivity. Thus, the main objective of this article is to present a bibliometric analysis regarding digitalization and Big Data applications in Smart Farming.A total of 2401 articles were found and, based on ProKnow-C methodology criteria,thirty-nine publications were selected and analysed.Furthermore, the main solutions and opportunities about the topic were recognized aiming to direct future research.
文摘Background:To evaluate predictability, stability, efficacy, and safety of transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy(TPRK)using smart pulse technology(SPT)(SmartSurface procedure)of Schwind Amaris with mitomycin C for correction of post small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE)myopic residual refractive errors.Method:This study is a prospective,non-comparative case series conducted at a private eye centre in Ismailia,Egypt,on eyes with post-SMILE myopic residual refractive errors because of undercorrection or suction loss(suction loss occurred after the posterior lenticular cut and the creation of side-cuts;redocking was attempted, and the treatment was completed in the same session with the same parameters)with myopia or myopic astigmatism. The patients were followed up post-SMILE for six months before the SmartSurface procedure, and then they were followed up for one year after that.TPRK were performed using Amaris excimer laser at 500 kHz.The main outcomes included refractive predictability, stability, efficacy, safety and any reported complications. Results:This study included 68 eyes of 40 patients out of 1920 total eyes(3.5%)with post-SMILE technique myopic residual refractive errors. The average duration between the SMILE surgery and TPRK was 6.7±0.4 months(range 6 to 8 months). The mean refractive spherical equivalent(SE)was within±0.50 D of plano correction in 100%of the eyes at 12 months post-TPRK.Astigmatism of<0.50 D was achieved in 100%of the eyes. The mean of the residual SE error showed statistically significant improvement from preoperative−1.42±0.52 D to 0.23±0.10 D(P<0.0001).Uncorrected distance visual acuity(UDVA)(measured by Snellen’s chart and averaged in logMAR units)was improved significantly to 0.1±0.07(P<0.0001).UDVA was 0.2 logMAR or better in 100%of the eyes,0.1 logMAR or better in 91.2%of the eyes, and 0.0 logMAR in 20.6%of the eyes.Corrected distance visual acuity(CDVA)remained unchanged in 79.4%of eyes.14.7%of eyes gained one line of CDVA(Snellen).5.9%of eyes gained two lines of CDVA(Snellen). Conclusion:Transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy using smart pulse technology with mitomycin C enhancement after SMILE is a safe, predictable, stable, and effective technique.
