Based on the evolution of geological dynamics and spatial chaos theory, we proposed the advanced prediction an advanced prediction method of a gas desorption index of drill cuttings to predict coal and gas outbursts. ...Based on the evolution of geological dynamics and spatial chaos theory, we proposed the advanced prediction an advanced prediction method of a gas desorption index of drill cuttings to predict coal and gas outbursts. We investigated and verified the prediction method by a spatial series data of a gas desorption index of drill cuttings obtained from the 113112 coal roadway at the Shitai Mine. Our experimental results show that the spatial distribution of the gas desorption index of drill cuttings has some chaotic charac- teristics, which implies that the risk of coal and gas outbursts can be predicted by spatial chaos theory. We also found that a proper amount of sample data needs to be chosen in order to ensure the accuracy and practical maneuverability of prediction. The relative prediction error is small when the prediction pace is chosen carefully. In our experiments, it turned out that the optimum number of sample points is 80 and the optimum prediction pace 30. The corresponding advanced prediction pace basically meets the requirements of engineering applications.展开更多

The Limu tin deposits located in the Nanling tin and tungsten-polymetallic ore belt are now facing resource depletion after decades of exploitation.Peripheral mineral exploration therefore has become an urgent task.Us...The Limu tin deposits located in the Nanling tin and tungsten-polymetallic ore belt are now facing resource depletion after decades of exploitation.Peripheral mineral exploration therefore has become an urgent task.Using mineral exploration around the Limu crisis mines as an example,we introduce a breakthrough method of how the three-field theory,i.e.,the material,energy and spatial fields,is applied to intensively studies areas,a history of years of mineral exploitation and complex ore-forming systems.Taking a cue from Limu regional metallogeny,we based our investigation on the metallogenic information from geology,geophysics,geochemistry and remote sensing.We conducted our study of the three-field integrated information system,associated with metallogenic prognoses from deposits,with assignments and calculations which correct and allocate synthetic metallogenic prognosis by relying on GIS.We submitted a synthetic metallogenic prognosis map of tin in Limu where we delineated three ore target areas.A breakthrough was achieved by finding about 4785 t of tin metal outside the Shiziling deposit,which has been confirmed by drilling.The successful application in Limu shows that this three-field theory is of scientific and practical importance and deserves to be extended to utilization.展开更多

The noise sources are assumed to be statistically independent directional point sources distributed over the ocean surface, and the effects of ocean environment on ambient noise are studied. The normal-mode theory of surface-generated noise is developed, and the normal-mode formula of the directional density function suitable for small grazing angles is analytically continued for being suitable for great grazing angles and consistent with the ray formula. Concentrations of heavy metals in 74 sediment samples from the Fenghe River, which originates from the north of the Qinling Mountains and flows through Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China, were characterized by employi...Concentrations of heavy metals in 74 sediment samples from the Fenghe River, which originates from the north of the Qinling Mountains and flows through Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China, were characterized by employing geographic information system(GIS)mapping, fuzzy synthetic assessment, and multivariate statistical analysis to determine the enrichment characteristics of heavy metals as well as their potential risks of pollution to sediments. Al, Cd, and Co were the major pollutants, with a high enrichment factor(EF) value. Heavy metal concentrations from samples near the paper plant were maintained at a high level. Significant enrichment of Al, Ba, Cr, Ni, Pb, and Co was found in the midstream and downstream, while high concentration of Cu occurred in the headwater stream. Based on the cluster and principal component analyses, sediment metals mainly came from the paper plants, agronomic practices, natural sources, and tourism, with a contribution of 51.59%, 23.01%, 14.21%, and 9.88%, respectively. Sediment pollution assessment explored using fuzzy theory based on the entropy method and toxicity coefficient showed that 26, 32, and 11 sites fell into Class III(slightly polluted), Class IV(moderately polluted), and Class V(heavily polluted), respectively, and their scores of membership degree in the polluted level were on the rise, suggesting a relatively high degree of sediment metal pollution in the study area. Closely related to the excessive industrial and agricultural applications, metal pollution in sediment is necessary to be addressed in the Fenghe River.展开更多
Based on typo-morphological studies,this paper proposes the concept of “space gene” from the perspective of urban spatial development theory.Specifically,space gene refers to a unique and relatively stable pattern o...Based on typo-morphological studies,this paper proposes the concept of “space gene” from the perspective of urban spatial development theory.Specifically,space gene refers to a unique and relatively stable pattern of spatial organization formed as a result of long-term interaction among the three dimensions:urban space,natural environment,and socio-culture.It conveys distinctive characteristics of different regions and contributes to a unique city identity and a harmonious relationship among the three dimensions.This paper points out that urban planning and design can be localized through the identification-analysis-guidance process of space genes,avoiding both the design scheme that does not respect culture and nature and the practice that a unified model is adopted to create same images in different cities,as well as prompting the directional turn of urban planning and design approaches from space form creation to space gene analysis.It provides an effective design path for a win-win result among urban development,natural protection,and cultural inheritance.Furthermore,the paper discusses the prospect of the Space GenBank Project.展开更多
