A transient 3D model was established to investigate the effect of spatial interaction of ultrasounds on the dual-frequency ultrasonic field in magnesium alloy melt. The effects of insertion depth and tip shape of the ultrasonic rods, input pressures and their ratio on the acoustic field distribution were discussed in detail.Additionally, the spacing, angle, and insertion depth of two ultrasonic rods significantly affect the interaction between distinct ultrasounds. As a result, various acoustic pressure distributions and cavitation regions are obtained. The spherical rods mitigate the longitudinal and transversal attenuation of acoustic pressure and expand the cavitation volume by 53.7%and 31.7%,respectively,compared to the plate and conical rods.Increasing the input pressure will enlarge the cavitation region but has no effect on the acoustic pressure distribution pattern. The acoustic pressure ratio significantly affects the pressure distribution and the cavitation region, and the best cavitation effect is obtained at the ratio of 2:1(P15:P20). 展开更多

But the studies focusing on the SI are relatively few in China mainly because of the scarcity of data. This paper deals with the SI in terms of rail passenger flows, which is an important aspect of the network structure of urban agglomeration. By using a data set consisting of rail O-D (origin-destination) passenger flows among nearly 200 cities, intercity rail distance O-D matrixes, and some other indices, it is found that the attenuating tendency of rail passenger is obvious. And by the analysis on dominant flows and spatial structure of flows, we find that passenger flows have a trend of polarizing to hubs while the linkages between hubs upgrade. However, the gravity model reveals an overall picture of convergence process over time which is not in our expectation of integration process in the framework of globalization and economic integration. Some driven factors for the re-organization process of the structure of urban agglomeration, such as technique advance, globalization, etc. are discussed further based on the results we obtained. 展开更多

This paper aims to explore urban geography with a new perspective. Endowed with the urban geography connotations, an improved data field model is employed to integrate temporal dimension into spatial process of cities in a typical region in this article. Taking the Beijing-Shanghai Corridor including 18 cities as an example, the authors chose the city centricity index (CCI) and the spatial data field model to analyze the evolution process and features of sub-region and urban spatial interaction in this corridor based on the data of 1991, 1996 and 2002. Through the analy- sis, we found that: 1) with the improvement of the urbanization level and the development of urban economy, the cit- ies’ CCI grew, the urban spatial radiative potential enhanced and the radiative range expanded gradually, which reflects the urban spatial interaction’s intensity has been increasing greatly; 2) although the spatial interaction intensity among the cities and sub-regions in the Beijing-Shanghai Corridor was growing constantly, the gap of the spatial interaction strength among different cities and sub-regions was widening, and the spatial division between the developed areas and the less developed areas was obvious; and 3) the intensity of the spatial interaction of Beijing, Shanghai and their urban agglomerations was far greater than that in small cities of other parts of the corridor, and it may have a strong drive force on the choice of spatial location of the economic activities. 展开更多

A comprehensive understanding of the spatial interaction between the industrial undertaking capability and the position of the global value chain of the 12 East Asian countries is conducive to strengthening regional cooperation, gaining a say in foreign trade and becoming the dominant player in the global division of labor system. The article reveals the operating rules of the interaction between the industrial undertaking capacity and the global value chain position of East Asian countries by calculating the Global Moran Index(Moran’s I), coupling coordination degree and other indicators. The results show that: in time, the values of industrial undertaking capacity and the positions of global value chain in East Asian countries showed a sustained and stable growth trend, and have a consistent trend of change. Spatially, both of the two indexes had significant positive spatial correlation, with Moran’s I showing an ‘inverted U’pattern, and the spatial aggregation distribution of global value chain position lagged behind the spatial aggregation distribution of industrial undertaking capacity by one year. In terms of spatial coupling coordination, the coupling coordination values of the two indicators show a steady upward trend. Combined with the comparative advantage of each country, this paper provides suggestions for promoting the positions of Chinese and other East Asian industries in the global value chain from the perspectives of enhancing independent innovation capability and upgrading industrial structure. 展开更多

Based on the theories and methods of complex network, crude oil trade flows between countries along the Belt and Road(B&R,hereafter)are inserted into the Geo-space of B&R and form a spatial interaction network which takes the countries as nodes and takes the trade relations as edges. The networked mining and evolution analysis can provide important references for the research on trade relations among the B&R countries and the formulation of trade policy. This paper researches and discusses the construction, statistical analysis, top networks and stability of the crude oil trade network between the B&R countries from 2001 to 2020 from the perspectives of Geo-Computation for Social Sciences(GCSS)and spatial interaction.Firstly, evolutions of out-degree,in-degree,out-strength and in-strength of the top 10 countries in the crude oil trade network are computed and analyzed.Secondly, the top network method is used to explore the evolution characteristics of hierarchical structures. And finally, the sequential evolution characteristics of the crude oil trade network stability are analyzed utilizing the network stability measure method based on the trade relationship autocorrelation function. The analysis results show that Russia has the largest out-degree and out-strength,and China has the largest in-degree and in-strength.The crude oil trade volume of the top 10 import and export networks between 2001—2020 accounts for over 90%of the total trade volume of the crude oil trade network, and the proportion remains relatively stable. However, the stability of the network showed strong fluctuations in 2009,2012 and 2014,which may be closely related to major international events in these years, which could furtherly be used to build a correlation model between network volatility and major events. This paper explores how to construct and analyze the spatial interaction network of crude oil trade and can provide references for trade relations research and trade policy formulation of B&R countries. 展开更多

In this paper,we investigate methodologies to improve direct-touch interaction on invisible and intangible spatial input. We firstly discuss about the motive of looking for a new input method for whole body interaction and how it can be meaningful. We also describe the role that can play spatial interaction to improve the freedom of interaction for a user.We propose a method of spatial centered interaction using invisible and intangible spatial inputs. However, given their lack of tactile feedback and visual representation, direct touch interaction on such input can be confused. In order to make a step toward understanding causes and solutions for such phenomena,we made 2 user experiments. In the first one,we test 5 setups of helper that provide information of the location of the input by constraining the dimension it is located at.The results show that using marker on the ground and a relationship with the height of the user’s body improve significantly the locative task.In the second experiment,we create a dancing game using invisible and intangible spatial inputs and we stress the results obtained in the first experiment within this cognitively demanding context. Results show that the same setup of helper is still providing very good results in that context. 展开更多

Cross-region innovation is widely recognized as an important source of the long-term regional innovation capacity. In the recent past,a growing number of studies has investigated the network structure and mechanisms of cross-region innovation collaboration in various contexts. However, existing research mainly focuses on physical effects, such as geographical distance and high-speed railway connections. These studies ignore the intangible drivers in a changing environment, the more digitalized economy and the increasingly solidified innovation network structure. Thus, the focus of this study is on estimating determinants of innovation networks, especially on intangible drivers, which have been largely neglected so far.Using city-level data of Chinese patents(excluding Hong Kong,Macao, and Taiwan Province of China),we trace innovation networks across Chinese cities over a long period of time.By integrating a measure on Information and Communications Technology(ICT)development gap and network structural effects into the general proximity framework, this paper explores the changing mechanisms of Chinese innovation networks from a new perspective. The results show that the structure of cross-region innovation networks has changed in China. As mechanisms behind this development, the results confirm the increasingly important role of intangible drivers in Chinese inter-city innovation collaboration when controlling for effects of physical proximity, such as geographical distance.Since digitalization and coordinated development are the mainstream trends in China and other developing countries, these countries'inter-city innovation collaboration patterns will witness dramatic changes under the influence of intangible drivers. 展开更多

The spatial interaction model is an effective way to explore the geographical disparities inherent in the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI) by simulating spatial flows. The traditional gravity model implies the hypothesis of equilibrium points without any reference to when or how to achieve it. In this paper, a dynamic gravity model was established based on the Maximum Entropy(MaxEnt) theory to estimate and monitor the interconnection intensity and dynamic characters of bilateral relations. In order to detect the determinants of interconnection intensity, a Geodetector method was applied to identify and evaluate the determinants of spatial networks in five dimensions. The empirical study clearly demonstrates a heterogeneous and non-circular spatial structure. The main driving forces of spatial-temporal evolution are foreign direct investment, tourism and railway infrastructure construction, while determinants in different sub-regions show obvious spatial differentiation. Southeast Asian countries are typically multi-island area where aviation infrastructure plays a more important role. North and Central Asian countries regard oil as a pillar industry where power and port facilities have a greater impact on the interconnection. While Western Asian countries are mostly influenced by the railway infrastructure, Eastern European countries already have relatively robust infrastructure where tariff policies provide a greater impetus. 展开更多

Long-lasting expansion of haze pollution in China has already presented a stern challenge to regional joint prevention and control. There is an urgent need to enlarge and reconstruct the coverage of joint prevention and control of air pollution in key area. Air quality models can identify and quantify the regional contribution of haze pollution and its key components with the help of numerical simulation, but it is difficult to be applied to larger spatial scale due to the complexity of model parameters. The time series analysis can recognize the existence of spatial interaction of haze pollution between cities, but it has not yet been used to further identify the spatial sources of haze pollution in large scale. Using econometric framework of time series analysis, this paper developed a new approach to perform spatial source apportionment. We applied this approach to calculate the contribution from spatial sources of haze pollution in China, using the monitoring data of particulate matter(PM_(2.5)) across 161 Chinese cities. This approach overcame the limitation of numerical simulation that the model complexity increases at excess with the expansion of sample range, and could effectively deal with severe large-scale haze episodes. 展开更多

The properties of Mach stems in hypersonic corner flow induced by Mach interaction over 3D intersecting wedges were studied theoretically and numerically.A new method called "spatial dimension reduction" was used to analyze theoretically the location and Mach number behind Mach stems. By using this approach, the problem of 3D steady shock/shock interaction over 3D intersecting wedges was transformed into a 2D moving one on cross sections, which can be solved by shock-polar theory and shock dynamics theory. The properties of Mach interaction over 3D intersecting wedges can be analyzed with the new method, including pressure, temperature, density in the vicinity of triple points, location, and Mach number behind Mach stems.Theoretical results were compared with numerical results, and good agreement was obtained. Also, the influence of Mach number and wedge angle on the properties of a 3D Mach stem was studied. 展开更多

The objective of this study is to develop a framework for re-examining and re-defining the classical concepts of spatial interaction and reorganization in the urban system. We introduce a modified radiation model for spatial interactions, coupled with migration big data, transport accessibility algorithm, and city competitiveness assessment for efficient distribution of the inter-city flow through the network. The Yangtze River Middle Reaches(YRMR)urban agglomeration(UA)is chosen as the case study region to systematically identify and measure its spatial configuration and to gain insights for other UAs‘sustainable development in China. The results are also compared with those computed by the classical gravity model to systematically discuss the applicability of spatial interaction laws and models, and related practical policies for regional sustainable development are discussed based on the findings as well. The conclusions are highlighted below:1)Combining with the?city network paradigm‘and?central place theory‘can better express the spatial configurations of city systems in the context of?space of flows‘;2)The results validate the potentialities of a multi-analysis framework to assess the spatial configurations of city network based on the improved radiation model and network analysis tools;3)The applications of spatial interaction models should be considered according to the specific geographical entity and its spatial scale. 展开更多

Tourism-led economic growth and tourism-driven urbanization have attracted increasing attention by provinces and regions in China with abundant tourism resources.Due to low data availability, the current tourism literature lacks empirical evidence of the tourism network in lessdeveloped mountainous regions where the development of transport infrastructure is more variable. This paper aims to provide such evidence using Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China as a case study.Using User Generated Content(UGC)data, this study constructs a tourism network in Guangxi.By integrating social network analysis with spatial interaction modelling,we compared the impact of two different transport infrastructures, highway and high-speed railway,on tourist flows, particularly in less-developed mountainous regions. It was found that the product of node centrality and flow could best describe the significant pushing and pulling forces on the flow of tourists. The tourism by high-speed railway was sensitive to the position of trip destination on the whole tourism network but self-drive tourism was more sensitive to travelling time. The increase of high-speed railway density is crucial to promote local tourism-led economic development,however,large-scale karst landforms in the study area present a significant obstacle to the construction of high-speed railways. 展开更多

In this work, some aspects of the 4D-LSM on solving problems in geomechanics are investigated, such as the ability to reproduce elastic properties of geomaterials, the capability of solving heterogeneous problems, the accuracy on modelling stress wave propagation, the ability to solve dynamic fracturing and the parallel computational efficiency. This paper addresses new trends in quantitative geography research. Modern social science research--including economic and social geography--has in the past decades shown an increasing interest in micro-oriented behaviour of actors. This is inter alia clearly reflected in SIMs (spatial interaction models), where discrete choice approaches have assumed a powerful position. This paper aims to provide in particular a concise review of micro-based research, with the aim to review the potential--but also the caveats---of micro models to map out human behaviour. In particular, attention will be devoted to interactive learning principles that shape individual decisions. Lessons from cognitive sciences will be put forward and illustrated, amongst others on the basis of computational neural networks or spatial econometric approaches. Particular attention will be paid to non-linear dynamic spatial models, amongst others, in the context of chaos theory and complexity science. The methodology of deductive reasoning under conditions of large data bases in studying human mobility will be questioned as well. In this context more extensive attention is given to ceteris paribus conditions and evolutionary thinking. The relevance of the paper will be illustrated by referring to various spatial applications in different disciplines and different application areas, e.g. in geography, regional science or urban economics. 展开更多

Identifying the spatiotemporal interaction pattern of agricultural product circulation(APC)is crucial for agricultural resource adjustment and food security.Current studies are mostly based on static statistical data over an entire year or a specific period, which cannot describe the spatial pattern of APC and its seasonal variation on a fine spatiotemporal scale. Thus, this study extracts an APC trip chain based on national truck trajectory data and constructs the flow network of the Beijing APC with the city as the spatial unit and the season as the temporal unit. The spatial interaction pattern and seasonal variation in APC are then analyzed from the network spatial form, city node function role, and transportation corridors. The results are as follows:(1)Compared with methods based on static statistical data, the proposed method provides a more complete and refined depiction of the spatiotemporal interaction pattern of APC.(2)The flow network of the Beijing APC involves 316 cities in China,of which 143 cities play a major role with typical seasonal characteristics. These cities can be divided into perennial core cities, perennial major cities, core cities in winter-spring,major cities in winter-spring,core cities in summer-autumn,and major cities in summer-autumn,contributing 2.6%-40.3%to the Beijing APC.(3)There are 6 transportation corridors for the Beijing APC.The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei corridor and coastal corridor contribute 53.5%and 12.8%of the annual supply, respectively, with a balanced supply in all seasons. The Beijing-Kunming corridor and Beijing-Guangzhou corridor contribute 14.3%and 9.0%,respectively,with much higher supplies in winter and spring. The northeast and northwest corridors contribute 7.3%and 3.3%,respectively,mainly in the summer and autumn. These results help deepen the understanding of agricultural product supply patterns and provide a reference for the design and optimization of agricultural product transportation routes. 展开更多

The cause-effect associations between geographical phenomena are an important focus in ecological research. Recent studies in structural equation modeling(SEM) demonstrated the potential for analyzing such associations. We applied the variance-based partial least squares SEM(PLS-SEM) and geographically-weighted regression(GWR) modeling to assess the human-climate impact on grassland productivity represented by above-ground biomass(AGB). The human and climate factors and their interaction were taken to explain the AGB variance by a PLS-SEM developed for the grassland ecosystem in Inner Mongolia, China. Results indicated that 65.5% of the AGB variance could be explained by the human and climate factors and their interaction. The case study showed that the human and climate factors imposed a significant and negative impact on the AGB and that their interaction alleviated to some extent the threat from the intensified human-climate pressure. The alleviation may be attributable to vegetation adaptation to high human-climate stresses, to human adaptation to climate conditions or/and to recent vegetation restoration programs in the highly degraded areas. Furthermore, the AGB response to the human and climate factors modeled by GWR exhibited significant spatial variations. This study demonstrated that the combination of PLS-SEM and GWR model is feasible to investigate the cause-effect relation in socio-ecological systems. 展开更多

We study the possible topological phase in a one-dimensional(1D) quantum wire with an oscillating Rashba spin–orbital coupling in real space. It is shown that there are a pair of particle–hole symmetric gaps forming in the bulk energy band and fractional boundary states residing in the gap when the system has an inversion symmetry. These states are topologically nontrivial and can be characterized by a quantized Berry phase ±π or nonzero Chern number through dimensional extension. When the Rashba spin–orbital coupling varies slowly with time, the system can pump out 2 charges in a pumping cycle because of the spin flip effect. This quantized pumping is protected by topology and is robust against moderate disorders as long as the disorder strength does not exceed the opened energy gap. 展开更多

Based on typo-morphological studies, this paper proposes the concept of “space gene” from the perspective of urban spatial development theory.Specifically, space gene refers to a unique and relatively stable pattern of spatial organization formed as a result of long-term interaction among the three dimensions:urban space, natural environment, and socio-culture.It conveys distinctive characteristics of different regions and contributes to a unique city identity and a harmonious relationship among the three dimensions. This paper points out that urban planning and design can be localized through the identification-analysis-guidance process of space genes, avoiding both the design scheme that does not respect culture and nature and the practice that a unified model is adopted to create same images in different cities,as well as prompting the directional turn of urban planning and design approaches from space form creation to space gene analysis. It provides an effective design path for a win-win result among urban development, natural protection, and cultural inheritance.Furthermore, the paper discusses the prospect of the Space GenBank Project. 展开更多
