Nanogenerator-based bidirectional pressure sensor array and its demonstration in underwater invasive species detection

Lakes areas,which cause catastrophic damages in both commercial fishery and ecological systems.However,current assessment strategies may pose challenges for lake-wide abundance estimation and non-target anadromous species preservation.Here,we demonstrate an efficacious species-specific non-destructive sensing system based on porous ferroelectret nanogenerator for in-situ monitoring of lamprey spawning migration using their unique suction behavior.Simulations show that the porous structure enables a redistribution of surface charges under bidirectional deformations,which allows the detection of both positive and negative pressures.The quasi-piezoelectric effect is further validated by quantitative analysis in a wide pressure range of−50 to 60 kPa,providing detailed insights into transduction working principles.For reliable lamprey detection,a 4×4-pixel sensor array is developed and integrated with a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS)based signal processing array thus constituting a sensing panel capable of recording oral suction patterns in an underwater environment. 展开更多

Detection and observation of reactive intermediates is an essential step in investigation of reaction pathways.However,most reactive intermediates are unstable and present at low concentrations;their short lifetimes make them difficult to detect and characterize.Supramolecular containers offer opportunities for the stabilization and characterization of those labile species,through isolation from the media and protection inside the cavity of the host.In this review,we summarize the examples of labile reaction intermediates that are stabilized and characterized with the help of supramolecular containers.The container compounds include carcerands,deep cavitands and amide naphthotubes.We focus on unstable guest species-cyclobutadiene,benzocyclopropenone,o-benzyne,1,2,4,6-cycloheptatetraene,anti-Bredt's olefin,fluorophenoxycarbene,O-acylisoamide,and hemiaminalthat act as intermediates in certain organic reactions. 展开更多

Increasingly serious microbial infections call for the development of new simpler methods for the precise diagnosis and specific inhibition of such pathogens. In this work, a peptide mineralized Au cluster probe was applied as a new simplified strategy to both recognize and inhibit a single bacteria species of Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus) simultaneously. The probes are composed of peptides and Au clusters. Moreover, the peptides specifically target S. aureus cells and the Au clusters provide fluorescent imaging and have an antibacterial effect. These new probes enable the simultaneous specific detection and effective destruction S. aureus cells in situ. 展开更多

The monitoring and management of aquatic ecosystems depend on precise estimates of biodiversity.Metabarcoding analyses of environmental nucleic acids(eNAs),including environmental DNA(eDNA)and environmental RNA(eRNA),have garnered attention for their cost-effective and non-invasive biomonitoring capabilities.However,the accuracy of biodiversity estimates obtained through eNAs can vary among different organismal groups.Here we evaluate the performance of eDNA and eRNA metabarcoding across nine organismal groups,ranging from bacteria to terrestrial vertebrates,in three crosssections of the Yangtze River,China.We observe robust complementarity between eDNA and eRNA data.The relative detectability of eNAs was notably influenced by major taxonomic groups and organismal sizes,with eDNA providing more robust signals for larger organisms.Both eDNA and eRNA exhibited similar cross-sectional and longitudinal patterns.However,the detectability of larger organisms declined in eRNA metabarcoding,possibly due to differential RNA release and decay among different organismal groups or sizes.While underscoring the potential of eDNA and eRNA in large river biomonitoring,we emphasize the need for differential interpretation of eDNA versus eRNA data.This highlights the importance of careful method selection and interpretation in biomonitoring studies. 展开更多
