The thermal behavior of an electrically non-conducting magnetic liquid flowing over a stretching cylinder under the influence of a magnetic dipole is considered. The governing nonlinear differential equations are solved numerically using a finite element approach, which is properly validated through comparison with earlier results available in the literature. The results for the velocity and temperature fields are provided for different values of the Reynolds number, ferromagnetic response number,Prandtl number, and viscous dissipation parameter. The influence of some physical parameters on skin friction and heat transfer on the walls of the cylinder is also investigated. The applicability of this research to heat control in electronic devices is discussed to a certain extent. 展开更多

Combined effects of Soret(thermal-diffusion) and Dufour(diffusion-thermo) in MHD stagnation point flow by a permeable stretching cylinder were studied. Analysis was examined in the presence of heat generation/absorption and chemical reaction. The laws of conservation of mass, momentum, energy and concentration are found to lead to the mathematical development of the problem. Suitable transformations were used to convert the nonlinear partial differential equations into the ordinary differential equations. The series solutions of boundary layer equations through momentum, energy and concentration equations were obtained.Convergence of the developed series solutions was discussed via plots and numerical values. The behaviors of different physical parameters on the velocity components, temperature and concentration were obtained. Numerical values of Nusselt number, skin friction and Sherwood number with different parameters were computed and analyzed. It is found that Dufour and Soret numbers result in the enhancement of temperature and concentration distributions, respectively. 展开更多

The optimal design of heating and cooling systems must take into account heat radiation which is a non-linear process. In this study, the mixed convection in a radiative magnetohydrodynamic Eyring-Powell copperwater nanofluid over a stretching cylinder was investigated. The energy balance is modeled, taking into account the non-linear thermal radiation and a thermal slip condition. The effects of the embedded flow parameters on the fluid properties,as well as on the skin friction coefficient and heat transfer rate, are analyzed.Unlike in many existing studies, the recent spectral quasi-linearization method is used to solve the coupled nonlinear boundary-value problem. The computational result shows that increasing the nanoparticle volume fraction, thermal radiation parameter and heat generation parameter enhances temperature profile. We found that the velocity slip parameter and the fluid material parameter enhance the skin friction.A comparison of the current numerical results with existing literature for some limiting cases shows excellent agreement. 展开更多

The aim of the present study is to investigate the flow of the Casson fluid by an inclined stretching cylinder. A heat transfer analysis is carried out in the presence of thermal radiation and viscous dissipation effects. The temperature dependent thermal conductivity of the Casson fluid is considered. The relevant equations are first simplified under usual boundary layer assumptions, and then transformed into ordinary differential equations by suitable transformations. The transformed ordinary differential equations are computed for the series solutions of velocity and temperature. A convergence analysis is shown explicitly. Velocity and temperature fields are discussed for different physical parameters by graphs and numerical values. It is found that the velocity decreases with the increase in the angle of inclination while increases with the increase in the mixed convection parameter. The enhancement in the thermal conductivity and radiation effects corresponds to a higher fluid temperature. It is also found that heat transfer is more pronounced in a cylinder when it is compared with a flat plate. The thermal boundary layer thickness increases with the increase in the Eckert number. The radiation and variable thermal conductivity decreases the heat transfer rate at the surface. 展开更多

This work aims to analyze the flow of electrically conducting MWCNTs-nanofluid over a stretching cylinder with the aggregation and non-aggregation effects of nanoparticles. The working fluid comprised a combination of water and ethylene glycol, with volumetric proportions of (50:50) considered. Convective boundary constraints and modified Fourier law are implemented in heat transmission assessment. The mathematical flow model is formulated in the form of PDEs and is transformed into ODEs via similarity transformation. Numerical outcomes will be obtained with the use of the bvp4c technique and will be displayed with the help of graphs and tables. The results show that the surface drag coefficient is enhanced in the case of aggregation of nanoparticles whereas heat transfer rate is enhanced in the non-aggregation effect of nanoparticles. Furthermore, the temperature distribution enhances the increasing values of particle volume fraction in the case of aggregation effects of nanoparticles whereas temperature distribution lowers in the case of non-aggregation effect of nanoparticles. . 展开更多

In this paper,Newtonian nanofluid flow is observed under the effects of the magnetic field, activation energy and motile microorganisms over an inclined stretchable cylinder. The magnificent aspects of nanoliquid are demonstrated by enduring the Brownian motion and thermophoresis diffusion features.Nonlinear higher order partial differential equations are transformed into first-order ordinary differential equations with suitable similarity variables. The attained sets of governing equations are then cracked by bvp4 c procedure in MATLAB mathematical software. The numerical and graphical outcomes of controlling parameters such as Prandtl number, mixed convection, activation energy, thermophoresis,Brownian parameter,Biot number,Lewis number,Peclet number and motile concentration parameter against the velocity, temperature, volumetric concentration and motile concentration of nanoparticles of the fluid are discussed. The velocity is enhanced with the growth valuation in mixed convection and decay by rising variation of buoyancy ratio parameter, magnetic parameter and bio-convective Rayleigh parameter. The evolution in motile microorganisms is due to the increasing values of microorganisms Biot number. The presented data can be helpful in enhancement of manufacturing processes, biomolecules, extrusion systems applications and energy production improvement. 展开更多

The current investigation highlights the mixed convection slip flow and radiative heat transport of uniformly electrically conducting Williamson nanofluid yield by an inclined circular cylinder in the presence of Brownian motion and thermophoresis parameter.A Lorentzian magnetic body force model is employed and magnetic induction effects are neglected. The governing equations are reduced to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations with associated boundary conditions by applying scaling group transformations. The reduced nonlinear ordinary differential equations are then solved numerically by Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg fifth-order method with shooting technique. The effects of magnetic field,Prandtl number, mixed convection parameter, buoyancy ratio parameter,Brownian motion parameter, thermophoresis parameter, heat generation/absorption parameter, mass transfer parameter, radiation parameter and Schmidt number on the skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt are analyzed and discussed. It is found that the velocity of the fluid decreases with decrease in curvature parameter, whereas it increases with mixed convection parameter.Further, the local Nusselt number decreases with an increase in the radiation parameter. The numerical comparison is also presented with the existing published results and found that the present results are in excellent agreement which also confirms the validity of the present methodology. 展开更多

This study investigates the flow and heat transfer of dusty Williamson (MHD) Nanofluid flow over a stretching permeable cylinder in a porous medium. Dusty Williamson Nanofluid was considered due to its thermal properties and potential benefits of increasing the heat transfer rate. Firstly, partial differential equations are transformed into coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations through a similarity variables transformation. The resulting set of dimensionless equations is solved analytically by using the Homogony Perturbation Method (HPM). The effects of the emerging parameters on the velocity and temperature profiles as well as skin-friction coefficient and Nusselt number are publicized through tables and graphs with appropriate discussions. The present result has been compared with published papers and found to be in agreement. To the best of author’s knowledge, there has been sparse research work in the literature that considers the effect of dust with Williamson Nanofluid and also solving the problem analytically. Therefore to the best of author’s knowledge, this is the first time analytical solution has been established for the problem. The results revealed that the fluid velocity of both the fluid and dust phases decreases as the Williamson parameter increases. Motivated by the above limitations and the gaps in past works, therefore, it is hoped that the present work will assist in providing accurate solutions to many practical problems in science, industry and engineering. 展开更多

Thermal transport investigation in colloidal suspensions is taking a significant research direction. The applications of these fluids are found in various industries, engineering, aerodynamics, mechanical engineering and medical sciences etc.A huge amount of thermal transport is essential in the operation of various industrial production processes. It is a fact that conventional liquids have lower thermal transport characteristics as compared to colloidal suspensions. The colloidal suspensions have high thermal performance due to the thermophysical attributes of the nanoparticles and the host liquid. Therefore, researchers focused on the analysis of the heat transport in nanofluids under diverse circumstances. As such, the colloidal analysis of H_(2)O composed byγAl_(2)O_(3)and Al_(2)O_(3)is conducted over an elastic cylinder. The governing flow models ofγAl_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O and Al_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O is reduced in the dimensionless form by adopting the described similarity transforms. The colloidal models are handled by implementing the suitable numerical technique and provided the results for the velocity, temperature and local thermal performance rate against the multiple flow parameters. From the presented results,it is shown that the velocity of Al_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O increases promptly against a high Reynolds number and it decreases for high-volume fraction. The significant contribution of the volumetric fraction is examined for thermal enhancement of nanofluids. The temperature of Al_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O andγAl_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O significantly increases against a higherϕ.Most importantly, the analysis shows thatγAl_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O has a high local thermal performance rate compared to Al_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O.Therefore,it is concluded thatγAl_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O is a better heat transfer fluid and is suitable for industrial and technological uses. 展开更多

The boundary layer flow of a Casson fluid due to a stretching cylinder is discussed in the presence of nanoparticles and thermal radiation. All physical properties of the Casson fluid except the thermal conductivity are taken constant. Appropriate transformations yield the nonlinear ordinary differential systems. Convergent series solutions are developed and analyzed. The numerical results for the local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are demonstrated. It is found that an increase in the strength of the Brownian motion decays the temperature noticeably. However, the rate of heat transfer and the concentration of the nanoparticles at the surface increase for larger Brownian motion parameters. 展开更多

The melting phenomenon plays a critical role in optimizing the performance of power storage, electronic cooling, and semiconductor devices. The present study aims to analyzethe melting effect on the flow of Carreau fluid over a stretchable cylinder, with special consideration given to the impact of quadratic thermal radiation. Similarity variables and the homotopy analysis method are used to simplify and determine the semi-analytical homotopicsolutions of the governing equations. The present findings reveal that the melting parameter increases the heat transfer rate by more than 10% for both fluids, water (Pr=0.71), and polymer(Pr=10). However, as the temperature ratio due to quadratic radiation increases, the localNusselt number for water has been reduced by 25%, and an even more substantial reductionis observed for the polymer. The present study offers valuable insights into achieving optimalefficiency in electronic devices. 展开更多
