Effect of surface crack on the bearing capacity of strip footing placed on rock mass

In hilly regions,the existence of surface cracks in rock mass induces a potential threat to structural stability.Thus,the present research aims to explore the impact of surface cracks on the loadbearing capacity of strip footing placed on the rock mass.By taking into account the various boundary constraints across the surface of crack edges,the study investigates the presence of two categories of surface cracks,namely(1)separated crack,and(2)fine crack.The lower bound limit analysis is employed in conjunction with the finite element method(LBFELA)to conduct the numerical analysis.In order to evaluate rock mass yielding,the power conic programming(PCP)method is utilized to implement the generalized Hoek-Brown(GHB)failure criterion.The stability of the strip footing is analyzed by determining the bearing capacity factor(Nσγ),which is presented in the form of design charts by varying the strength parameters of rock,including the Geological Strength Index(GSI),Hoek-Brown material parameter(mi),Disturbance factor(D),and Normalised Uniaxial Compressive Strength(σci/γB),whereγis the unit weight of rock mass,and B is the width of strip footing.The study also investigates the impact of cracks on strip footings,considering different positions of the crack(LC)and depths of the crack(DC).The results demonstrate that the influence of the fine crack is only noticeable until the LC/B ratio reaches 6.However,for the separated crack,its impact remains significant even when the LC/B ratio exceeds 16.The appearance of fine crack at the edge of the footing results in a decrease in the magnitude Nσγof up to 45%,indicating a substantial reduction in the stability of the footing.The failure patterns are presented and discussed in detail for various cases in this study to examine the effect of surface cracks on the strip footing and to address the extent of the plastic collapse.

领域知识的获取是智能规划研究中的重要内容之一.派生规则是一种基于逻辑推理的领域知识表示方法.在对动作模型和派生规则综合分析的基础上提出了基于派生谓词的STRIPS领域知识提取策略,并给出了该提取策略的算法描述.在规划求解过程中,利用提取所得的领域规则可减少派生规则的逻辑推导,从而提高规划效率.对任意一个规划领域,利用提取所得的领域规则可以分析出领域谓词之间的互斥关系,这种互斥关系可以对一类矛盾的规划状态进行判定.最后,把所提出的领域规则提取策略嵌入到规划器StepByStep之中进行了领域规则提取实验.实验结果验证了该提取算法的可行性和有效性,所提取出的领域规则能够直观地表达谓词间的因果关系,为派生谓词的真值判断和后续的规划求解提供了可靠的领域知识.

Comparative Studies on Detection of Antibodies against Infectious Bursal Disease Virus with Test Strips and Agar Gel Immunodiffusion Method

[Objective] This study aimed to compare the detection results of antibodies against infectious bursal disease virus with test strips and agar gel immunodiffusion method. [Method] Antibodies against infectious bursal disease virus in chicken serum were detected using test strips developed in our laboratory, and the results were comparad^with that using traditional agar diffusion method. [Result] The comparative study of the two methods showed that the sensitivity of test strips was eight times over agar gel immunodiffusion; test strips showed higher detection rate in the deter- mination test of 216 clinical samples, with high specificity, easy preservation, and simple and rapid operation, thereby being more suitable for the monitoring of clinical antibodies. [Conclusion] Test strips could replace the existing serological methods, having great promotion and application value in antibody monitoring.

A METHOD FOR PREDICTING BUCKLING LOADS OF COMPOSITE LAMINATED STRIPS WITH A SURFACE NOTCH

Surface notches lower the stiffness of laminated strips, so they lower the buckling loads of the laminated strips, too. In this paper a new method is proposed to predict the buckling loads of the laminated strips with a surface notch. The theoretical and experimental results show that the buckling loads decrease as the depth or width of the surface notches increase; when the stacking sequence of the laminated strips is [0°/0°/+ θ/-θ/0°/0°/+θ/-θ] s , the buckling load decrease as θ increases. It proves that the method is reliable and significant.

Densification process of 10%B_4C-AA2024 matrix composite strips by semi-solid powder rolling

Semi-solid powder rolling（SSPR） is a novel strip manufacturing process,which includes the features of semi-solid rolling and powder rolling.In this work,densification process and deformation mechanisms of B4 C and AA2024 mixed powders in the presence of liquid phase were investigated.The relationships between relative densities and rolling forces were analyzed as well.The results show that liquid fraction plays an important role in the densification process which can be divided into three stages.Rolling deformation is the main densification mechanism in deformation area when the liquid fraction is lower than 20%.When the liquid fraction is equal to or higher than 20%,the flowing and filling of liquid phase are the densification mechanisms in deformation area.The relative densities increase with increasing rolling forces.The relative density–rolling force curves are similar at 550 °C and 585 °C.The characteristics of the curve shapes are apparently different at 605 °C and 625 °C.

Diagnosis of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis: An update on leucocyte esterase reagent strips

Ascites remain the commonest complication of decompensated cirrhosis. Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is defined as the infection of ascitic fluid (AF) in the absence of a contiguous source of infection and/or an intraabdominal inflammatory focus. An AF polymorphonuclear (PMN) leucocyte count ≥ 250/mm 3 -irrespective of the AF culture resultis universally accepted nowadays as the best surrogate marker for diagnosing SBP. Frequently the results of the manual or automated PMN count do not reach the hands of the responsible medical personnel in a timely manner. However, this is a crucial step in SBP management. Since 2000, 26 studies (most of them published as full papers) have checked the validity of using leukocyte esterase reagent strips (LERS) in SBP diagnosis. LERS appear to have low sensitivity for SBP, some LERS types more than others. On the other hand, though, LERS have consistently given a high negative predictive value (> 95% in the majority of the studies) and this supports the use of LERS as a preliminary screening tool for SBP diagnosis. Finally, an AF-tailored dipstick has been developed. Within the proper setting, it is set to become the mainstream process for handling AF samples.

Effect of cholecystokinin and secretin on contractile activity of isolated gastric muscle strips in guinea pigs

Effects of Dangshen on isolated gastric muscle strips in rats

AIM To study the effects of Dangshen [dried root of Codonopsis Pilosula (Franch) Nannf] on contractile activity of isolated gastric muscle strips in rats and its possible mechanism involved.METHODS Each isolated gastric muscle strip was put in a tissue chamber containing 5ml Krebs solution, constantly warmed by water jacket at 37℃ and supplied with a mixed gas of 95% O2 and 5% CO2. After incubating for 1h with 1g tension, Dangshen of varied concentration was added cumulatively in the tissue chamber at intervals of 2 minutes. The isometrical response was measured on ink-writing recorders.RESULTS Dangshen dose dependence increased the resting tension of longitudinal muscle (LM) of fundus (r=0.96, P＜0.01), the mean contractile amplitude of circular muscle (CM) of the stomach body (r=0.87, P＜0.05) and CM of antrum (r=0.98, P＜0.01), and the motility index CM of pylorus (r=0.87, P＜0.05). Atropine (5×10-8mol/L) or Hexamethonium (10-5mol/L) or Indomethacin (5×10-7mol/L) was given 2 minutes before the administration of Dangshen, it did not abolish its dose related manner. Atropine apparently reduced the increasing action of 10% and 30% Dangshen on the resting tesion of LM of fundus (P＜0.05), 30%, 100% and 200% Dangshen on bodied strips (P＜0.05), 100% and 200% Dangshen on antral strips (P＜0.05). Hexamethonium reduced the increasing action of 10% and 30% Dangshen on the resting tesion of LM of fundus (P＜0.05 and P＜0.05), 30%, 100% and 200% Dangshen on bodied strips (P＜0.05), and 100% and 200% Dangshen on pyloric strips (P＜0.05). Indomethacin inhibited the effect of 10% Dangshen on the resting tesion of LM of fundus (P＜0.05), but did not affect the exciting action of Dangshen on strips of body, antrum and pylorus.CONCLUSION The results showed that Dangshen possessed exciting action on the isolated gastric smooth muscle strips of the rat. The exciting action of Dangshen was partially mediated via cholinergic M and N receptors.

Effect of rhubarb on contractile response of gallbladder smooth muscle strips isolated from guinea pigs

AIM: To investigate the effect of rhubarb on contractile response of isolated gallbladder muscle strips from guinea pigs and its mechanism.METHODS: Guinea pigs were killed to remove the whole gallbladder. Two or three smooth muscle strips (8 mm×3mm) were cut along the longitudinal direction. The mucosa on each strip was carefully removed. Each longitudinal muscle strip was suspended in a tissue chamber containing 5 mL Krebs solution (37 ℃), bubbled continuously with 950 mL/L O2 and 50 mL/L CO2. The resting tension (g), mean contractile amplitude (mm),and contractile frequency (waves/min) were simultaneously recorded on recorders. After 2-h equilibration, rhubarb (10, 20, 70, 200, 700, 1 000 g/L) was added cumulatively to the tissue chamber in turns every 2 min to observe their effects on gallbladder.Antagonists were given 3 min before administration of rhubarb to investigate the possible mechanism.RESULTS: Rhubarb increased the resting tension (from 0 to 0.40±0.02, P＜0.001), and decreased the mean contractile amplitude (from 5.22±0.71 to 2.73±0.41,P＜0.001). It also increased the contractile frequency of the gallbladder muscle strips in guinea pigs (from 4.09±0.46to 6.08±0.35, P＜0.001). The stimulation of rhubarb on the resting tension decreased from 3.98±0.22 to 1.58±0.12by atropine (P＜0.001), from3.98±0.22 to 2.09±0.19 by verapamil (P＜0.001) and from 3.98±0.22 to 2.67±0.43by phentolamine (P＜0.005). But the effect was not inhibited by hexamethonium (P＞0.05). In addition, the action of mean amplitude and frequency was not inhibited by the above antagonists.CONCLUSION: Rhubarb can stimulate the motility of isolated gallbladder muscle strips from guinea pigs. The stimulation of rhubarb might be relevant with M receptor,Ca2+ channel and α receptor partly.

Carbon Diffusion in Hot Strips of Low Carbon Steel Produced by CSP Line under Different Thermal Histories

Two experiments were carried out on the same compact strip production (CSP) line, which differs in that one of them experienced γ→α→γ thermal history. The differences in microstructure, precipitation, misorientation etc between two experiments were investigated by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD) and positron annihilation technique (PAT). The carbon concentration in matrix is more inhomogeneous in the experiment than that with γ→α→γ7 thermal history. The specific precipitation characteristic in the experiment without γ→α→γ thermal history is discussed on the basis of different carbon diffusion behavior and interaction between dislocation and excess carbon.

Acid-pickling plates and strips speed control system by microwave heating based on self-adaptive fuzzy PID algorithm

Double self-adaptive fuzzy PID algorithm-based control strategy was proposed to construct quasi-cascade control system to control the speed of the acid-pickling process of titanium plates and strips. It is very useful in overcoming non-linear dynamic behavior, uncertain and time-varying parameters, un-modeled dynamics, and couples between the automatic turbulence control (ATC) and the automatic acid temperature control (AATC) with varying parameters during the operation process. The quasi-cascade control system of inner and outer loop self-adaptive fuzzy PID controller was built, which could effectively control the pickling speed of plates and strips. The simulated results and real application indicate that the plates and strips acid pickling speed control system has good performances of adaptively tracking the parameter variations and anti-disturbances, which ensures the match of acid pickling temperature and turbulence of flowing with acid pickling speed, improving the surface quality of plates and strips acid pickling, and energy efficiency.

FEM analysis of large thermo-deflection of strips being processed in a continuous annealing furnace

No matter what the flatness of a strip is, flat or defective, at an annealing furnace entrance, the strip can not keep its original shape and a remarkable change of its shape can be seen at the annealing furnace exit. By investigating this phenomenon at the 2030 mm continuous annealing line which belonged to Baosteel, a finite element model of thermo-mechanical buckling deformation of strips in a continuous annealing furnace were established, and the mechanism of flatness changing and the contributing factors were researched by the finite element software ANSYS.

Solidification Structure of Low Carbon Steel Strips with Different Phosphorus Contents Produced by Strip Casting

In the present paper, low carbon steel strips with different phosphorus contents were produced using a twin roll strip casting process. The solidification structure was studied and its features were analyzed in detail. It was found that the strips possessed a fine microstructure compared with the mould cast steels. With increasing phosphorus content more ferrite has been formed with finer grains.

Effect of hot stamping parameters on the mechanical properties and microstructure of cold-rolled 22MnB5 steel strips

Thermomechanical experiments were carried out to reproduce the hot stamping process and to investigate the effects of process parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of stamped parts. The process parameters, such as austenitizing temperature, soaking time, initial deformation temperature and cooling rate, are studied. The resulting microstructures of specimens were observed and analyzed. To evaluate the mechanical properties of specimens, tensile and hardness tests were also performed at room temperature. The op-timum parameters to achieve the highest tensile strength and the desired microstructure were acquired by comparing and analyzing the results. It is indicated that hot deformation changes the transformation characteristics of 22MnB5 steel. Austenite deformation promotes the austen-ite-to-ferrite transformation and elevates the critical cooling rate to induce a fully martensitic transformation.

EVALUATION OF LUBRICANTS FOR COLD ROLLING ALUMINUM STRIPS

Various kinds of base oils were applied to cold rolling aluminum strips on a test mill for evaluationof the influences of these base oils,aromatics contents and viscosity of base oils on their lubricating performances and surface reflectivity of rolled strips at annealing. Results showed that low friction coefficient androlling force were obtained by using the normal paraffins,whereas their contaminations on the annealed stripsurface were the same as those of other saturated hydrocarbons. Aromatics in base oil affected the stir face reflectivity of annealed strips, but the decrease of aromatics in base oil was ineffective to improve rolled stripssurface quality when it is less than 1 %. Base oil viscosity has the great influences on the lubricating performances and surface reflectivity of annealed strips just in this condition.

Numerical Study on Aerodynamic Performance of High-Speed Pantograph with Double Strips

Pantograph is a critical component of the high-speed train.It collects power through contact with catenary,which significantly affects the running safety of the train.Pantograph with double collector strips is one common type.The aerodynamic performance of the collector strips may affect the current collection of the pantograph.In this study,the aerodynamic performance of the pantograph with double strips is investigated.The numerical results are consistent with the experimental ones.The error in the aerodynamic drag force of the pantograph between numerical and experimental results is less than 5%.Three different conditions of the strips are studied,including the front strip,the rear strip,and the double strips.Results show that the presence of the front strip will affect the lift force of the rear strip,and reduce the resistance of the rear strip under the opening condition.Meanwhile,the rear strip has few effects on the front strip under the opening operation condition.The law of the resistance for the interaction between two strips under the closing condition is similar to the opening one.

Performance of the CAT-TPC based on two-dimensional readout strips

A gas detector 140×140×140 mm^(3)in size,termed the compact active target time projection chamber(CAT-TPC),was developed in this study to measure resonant scattering associated with cluster structures in unstable nuclei.The CAT-TPC consists of an electronic field cage,double-thick gas-electron-multiplier foils,a general-purpose digital data acquisition system,and a newly developed two-dimensional strip-readout structure.The CAT-TPC was operated using a^(4)He(96%)+CO_(2)(4%)gas mixture at 400 mbar.The working gas also serves as an active target for tracking charged particles.The overall performance of the CAT-TPC was evaluated using a collimated a-particle source.A time resolution of less than 20 ns and a position resolution of less than 0.2 mm were observed along the electron drift direction.Threedimensional images of incident trajectories and scattering events can be clearly reconstructed under an angular resolution of approximately 0.45 degree.
