The problems associated with vibrations of viaducts and low-frequency structural noise radiation caused by train excitation continue to increase in importance.A new floating-slab track vibration isolator-non-obstructive particle damping-phononic crystal vibration isolator is proposed herein,which uses the particle damping vibration absorption technology and bandgap vibration control theory.The vibration reduction performance of the NOPD-PCVI was analyzed from the perspective of vibration control.The paper explores the structure-borne noise reduction performance of the NOPD-PCVIs installed on different bridge structures under varying service conditions encountered in practical engineering applications.The load transferred to the bridge is obtained from a coupled train-FST-bridge analytical model considering the different structural parameters of bridges.The vibration responses are obtained using the finite element method,while the structural noise radiation is simulated using the frequency-domain boundary element method.Using the particle swarm optimization algorithm,the parameters of the NOPD-PCVI are optimized so that its frequency bandgap matches the dominant bridge structural noise frequency range.The noise reduction performance of the NOPD-PCVIs is compared to the steel-spring isolation under different service conditions. 展开更多

Structure-borne sound attenuation at corner interface of two plates with dynamic vibration absorber attached is investigated by wave approach.Equations governing transmission and reflection coefficients are deduced by introducing some non-dimensional coefficients,which help to reveal the physical sense inside and to simplify the analysis.Numerical investigation on vibration energy transmission of bending wave is carried out as well.The results from measurement and prediction show almost the same trends in the simplified experiment.It is found that energy transmission at corner interface depends greatly on whether the dynamic vibration absorber attached acts at resonance and is relatively lower right after the nature frequency of dynamic vibration absorber.Furthermore,the dynamic vibration absorber attached provides less energy transmission of bending wave than blocking mass at the end of "passing band". 展开更多

An experimental study for the characterization of ventilation fans as sources of structure-borne sound has been carried out. A source descriptor is proposed which is proportional to power and involves both the free velocity and the source mobility at the contact point. The measurement methods for the free velocity and the source mobility for three degrees of freedom are presented and the estimation of the source descriptor is demonstrated. A comparison of force excitation source descriptors and moment excitation source descriptors has been made and the results indicate that both force descriptor and moment descriptor decrease with increased frequency but the moment descriptor decreases more slowly. Moment induced emission may predominate at high frequencies. 展开更多

Flow channels with a variable cross-section are important components of piping system and are widely used in variousfields of engineering.Using afinite element method and modal analysis theory,flow-induced noise,mode shapes,and structure-borne noise in such systems are investigated in this study.The results demonstrate that the maximum displacement and equivalent stress are located in the part with variable cross-sectional area.The aver-age excitation force on theflow channel wall increases with theflow velocity.The maximum excitation force occurs in the range of 0–20 Hz,and then it decreases gradually in the range of 20–1000 Hz.Additionally,as theflow velocity rises from 1 to 3 m/s,the overall sound pressure level associated with theflow-induced noise grows from 49.37 to 66.37 dB.Similarly,the overall sound pressure level associated with the structure-borne noise rises from 40.27 to 72.20 dB.When theflow velocity is increased,the increment of the structure-borne noise is higher than that of theflow-induced noise. 展开更多

Faced with the key problems of machinerv- induced vibration and structure-borne noise when dynamic machines are mounted on flexible foundations such as upper floors of facto- ry buildings, the vibration and noise transmission mechanism and optimal control for the flexible system are systematically studied by the novel approach of power flow. A more general system of machinery-isolators一flexible foundation is modelled. Based on substructure transfer matrix tech- nique the power flow input and transmitted are formulated in closed forms, and the effects that the flexibility of foundation and the asymmetricity of system have upon the power flow transmis- sion spectra are revealed, Also the inverse problems of isolation design are discussed by using an optimum method. Optimum design for a typical example about a force fan mounted on a con- crete building floor is successfully performed to show that the model is practical, the theory and the optimisation developed are reasonable and effective. Thereby, theoretical bases for accurate prediction of isolation effectiveness and an optimum method for practical design of a general flexi- ble isolation system are provided. 展开更多

The structural vibration and the sound radiation induced by the flow over a cavity on a hydrofoil are investigated experimentally and numerically. The large eddy simulation(LES) is adopted to calculate the flow field and the pressure fluctuation characteristics. A coupled finite element method/boundary element method approach is used to analyze the hydrofoil vibration and the structure-borne noise. The flow noise is calculated using an acoustic analogy by considering the surface pressure fluctuations as the dipole sources. A hollow hydrofoil with an orifice supported by four cylinder rods is constructed for the experiments. Modal tests are performed to obtain the natural frequencies of the hydrofoil in air and water. The vibro-acoustic experiments are carried out in the water tunnel at various free stream velocities with the orifice open and closed. A pressure transducer is used to measure the pressure fluctuations behind the downstream edge of the orifice. The triaxial accelerometers mounted on the side walls are used to measure the vibrational response of the hydrofoil. Furthermore, a hydrophone located in a box, filled with water is used to measure the sound radiation. The structure-borne noise and the flow noise are identified by their frequency properties. Reasonable agreements are observed between the numerical predictions and the experimental measurements. 展开更多
