The performance of multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm with regard to solving closely spaced direction of arrivals (DOAs) depends strongly upon the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and snapshots. In order to solve this problem, a method by reconstructing the spatial spectrum function with both noise subspace and signal subspace is presented in this paper. The key idea is to apply the full information contained in covariance matrix and change the projection weights of steering vector on the noise and signal subspace by their revised eigenvalues, respectively. Comparing with the MUSIC algorithm, it does not increase any computational complexity either, and remarkably, it has the advantages of simultaneously reducing noise and keeping the high-resolution ability under low SNR and small sample sized scenarios. Simulation and experiment results are included to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

The interferences in the received signals are can- celled by using subspace projecting technique, and the resulting interference-free signals are processed by a weight vector which maximizes the signal-to-noise ratio. A subspace-based blind Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) estimation algorithm for digital bandpass signals in Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel is discussed. The lower bounds of the mean and variance of the estimation are derived, and simulations are performed for the commonly used digital bandpass signals, such as MPSK (M=2, 4, 8), MFSK (M=2, 4) and MQAM (M=16, 64, 128, 256) signals. Theoretical analyses and simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm is ef- fective even when the SNR is below 0dB. Furthermore, the algorithm can provide a blind estimator in that it needs neither the parameters of the received signals, such as the carrier frequency, symbol rate and modulation scheme, nor the synchronization of the system. 展开更多

In this paper, we propose the blind space-time high rate multi-user detector for synchronous uplink multi-rate Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) systems with antenna array at the base station. By employing antenna array at the base stations, the spatial dimension is used efficiently to suppress co-channel interference and increase the capacity for multi-rate CDMA system. After low rate physical users in the system are modeled as corresponding high rate virtual users, we construct the space-time signature vectors of virtual users. And subspace projection algorithm is employed to estimate space-time signature vectors blindly. Then a soft-decision high rate lnultiuser detector is proposed based on the estimated signature vectors, which avoids estimating the ambiguous complex factors which are necessary in traditional blind detector. Numerical simulation results evaluate the performance in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) for the proposed scheme. Simultaneously, it demonstrates that the system capability increases two times when using twoelement antenna array. 展开更多

In this paper, we propose a novel performance monitoring and fault detection method, which is based on modified structure analysis and globality and locality preserving (MSAGL) projection, for non-Gaussian processes with multiple operation conditions. By using locality preserving projection to analyze the embedding geometrical manifold and extracting the non-Gaussian features by independent component analysis, MSAGL preserves both the global and local structures of the data simultaneously. Furthermore, the tradeoff parameter of MSAGL is tuned adaptively in order to find the projection direction optimal for revealing the hidden structural information. The validity and effectiveness of this approach are illustrated by applying the proposed technique to the Tennessee Eastman process simulation under multiple operation conditions. The results demonstrate the advantages of the proposed method over conventional eigendecomposition-based monitoring methotis. 展开更多

A direct as well as iterative method(called the orthogonally accumulated projection method, or the OAP for short) for solving linear system of equations with symmetric coefficient matrix is introduced in this paper. With the Lanczos process the OAP creates a sequence of mutually orthogonal vectors, on the basis of which the projections of the unknown vectors are easily obtained, and thus the approximations to the unknown vectors can be simply constructed by a combination of these projections. This method is an application of the accumulated projection technique proposed recently by the authors of this paper, and can be regarded as a match of conjugate gradient method(CG) in its nature since both the CG and the OAP can be regarded as iterative methods, too. Unlike the CG method which can be only used to solve linear systems with symmetric positive definite coefficient matrices, the OAP can be used to handle systems with indefinite symmetric matrices. Unlike classical Krylov subspace methods which usually ignore the issue of loss of orthogonality, OAP uses an effective approach to detect the loss of orthogonality and a restart strategy is used to handle the loss of orthogonality.Numerical experiments are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the OAP. 展开更多

In this paper we propose a method to estimate the InSAR interferometric phase of the steep terrain based on the terrain model of local plane by using the joint subspace projection technique proposed in our previous paper. The method takes advantage of the coherence information of neighboring pixel pairs to auto-coregister the SAR images and employs the projection of the joint signal subspace onto the corresponding joint noise subspace to estimate the terrain interferometric phase. The method can auto-coregister the SAR images and reduce the interferometric phase noise simultaneously. Theoretical analysis and computer simulation results show that the method can provide accurate estimate of the interferometric phase (interferogram) of very steep terrain even if the coregistration error reaches one pixel. The effectiveness of the method is verified via simulated data and real data. 展开更多

This algorithm is designed for the reverse link of time division duplex-code division multiple access systems. The algorithm works by projecting desired users' signal vector onto the subspace orthogonal to the subspace that inferrers the users' signal. Link-level simulation results show that the scheme eliminates the inter-cell interference efficiently, improves the receiver performance, and increases the system capacity. 展开更多

The use of global navigation satellite system signals reflected by the sea surface as a remote sensing tool has received considerable attention for over a decade. However, in signal detection processing, the direct-path interference can potentially introduce a bigger obstacle to ocean surface detection than other interferences, such as clutter and radio signals. In order to improve retrieval of the ocean surface parameters, the direct-path interference signals have to be suppressed. The interference suppression based on the improved subspace projection algorithm is put forward in this paper. First of all, the interferential signal is acquired and tracked, then according to the acquired interferential signal parameter, the corresponding disturbance subspace is constructed. Finally, the interference is eliminated using the improved subspace block projection. This method can not only reduce the influence of interferential performance by the tracking error but also decrease computation greatly. It suits the changeable environment and the multi-data sample situation. The analysis of the simulated results has confirmed the validity of this method and provided a basis for the following system optimization design. 展开更多

Aiming to the estimation of source numbers, mixing matrix and separation of mixing signals under underdetermined case, the article puts forward a method of underdetermined blind source separation (UBSS) with an application in ultra-wideband (UWB) communication signals. The method is based on the sparse characteristic of UWB communication signals in the time domain. Firstly, finding the single source area by calculating the ratio of observed sampling points. Then an algorithm called hough-windowed method was introduced to estimate the number of sources and mixing matrix. Finally the separation of mixing signals using a method based on amended subspace projection. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method can separate UWB communication signals successfully, estimate the mixing matrix with higher accuracy and separate the mixing signals with higher gain compared with other conventional algorithms. At the same time, the method reflects the higher stability and the better noise immunity. 展开更多
