Relationship between Interaction Anxiousness,Academic Resilience,Cultural Intelligence and Ego-Identity among Chinese Vocational Pathway University Students:A Conditional Process Analysis Model

Background:University students’ego-identity,an essential component of their psychological development and mental health,has widely attracted the attention of policymakers,schools,and parents.Method:A total of 298 Chinese vocational pathway undergraduates were recruited,and a conditional process analysis model was adopted to explore the interaction mechanism of ego-identity.Results:The results suggest that the ego-identity of Chinese vocational pathway undergraduates is significantly affected by interaction anxiousness,academic resilience,and cultural intelligence.(1)Interaction anxiousness significantly and positively predicts ego-identity.(2)Academic resilience positively and partially mediates the effect of interaction anxiousness on ego-identity.(3)Cultural intelligence significantly and positively moderates the relationship between interaction anxiousness and ego-identity.However,a similar moderating effect was not found between interaction anxiousness and academic resilience.(4)As cultural intelligence increases,the negative influence of interaction anxiousness on ego-identity gradually diminishes,whatever the cultural intelligence level.Conclusions:Interaction anxiousness,academic resilience,and cultural intelligence are essential determinants of ego-identity among Chinese vocational pathway undergraduates.Strategic interventions should be utilized to enhance their abilities to alleviate interpersonal tensions,promote their resilience in facing academic difficulties,cope with diverse cultures,and boost their sense of self-confirmation.

The International Profile of Chinese Visiting Scholars in the UK: Improvement Needed in Linguistic, Cultural, and Academic Confidence

This study used Chinese visiting scholars in the UK as a sample, discussed Chinese visiting scholars' cross-cultural adaptation from the perspectives of linguistic confidence, cultural confidence and academic confidence, analyzed the correlation among the three types of confidence, and then proposed the concept of establishing a positive international profile of Chinese visiting scholars. It was recommended that Chinese visiting scholars should make more improvements in their cross-cultural adaptation. They should become the representative of China's international image, and play a more active role in further internationalizing of Chinese higher education.

Explaining the Private College Students＇ English Academic Ability by Social Cultural Perspective

From the perspective of the sociocultural theory （SCI）, this article examines Chinese students＇ present states of English academic achievements in some private colleges by investigating teacher-student interaction. It then analyzes underlying factors influencing learner＇s academic ability. Finally it investigates some efficient class teaching strategies to promote their academic development, using class interventions such as the know-want-learn strategy （KWL）, the object-explore-success-happy strategy （OESH）, the cooperative project between students and teacher＇s strategy （CPST） and so on. Theoretically, the paper aims to place the SCT perspectives in the foreground. Pedagogically, it attempts to raise teacher-practitioners＇ wisdom so as to enhance learners＇ English academic achievements from the affective perspective.

A study of the IC^2 Culture Exploring Project of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Library

The paper analyzes the environments confronted with academic libraries and the evolving characteristics of Shanghai Jiao Tong University that give shape to the conception and implementation of an IC2Culture Exploring Project. This innovative model of SJTU Library operation is not only in concert with the strategic goals of SJTU but also with two other conspicuous developmental trends in the larger academic library circle;namely, 1) a trend toward the deepening of library service support in academic arena on the one hand and 2) the trend of diversifying library outreach services on the other hand.Based on our first-hand involvement in all phases and aspects of this project and its subsequent review and analysis undertakings, this paper expatiates upon the IC2Culture Exploring Project of SJTU Library in terms of its vision, its specific mission objectives, its program design, its unique characteristics, its launching process, its salient case studies, its initial results and its strategies for a sustainable development in the future.

A Journey towards Collaborative Culture Development:How to Be Weightless Despite Academic Gravity

In science,gravity refers to the universal force of attraction acting on and between all matter.No one on earth can escape the force of gravity.In a similar vein,the stringent requirements of publications,research grants,and research output in the academic world can be metaphorically described as“academic gravity,”the force of which pushes university academics to struggle and strive in pursuit of excellence just to survive in the changing landscape of higher education governed by neo-liberalism and managerialism.This article describes the journey of a junior academic staff member in an Asian university as he coped with various difficulties in establishing a collaborative culture in his department(i.e.,the Faculty of Education).Working with a senior colleague(Sunshine-mother hereafter)in the same department,Author 1 began to recognize the importance of collegial collaboration in teacher education generally and in his academic life specifically.However,although he tried his utmost to develop a culture of collaboration amongst his colleagues,he struggled to cope with the tension and stress exerted by academic gravity(i.e.,publication production and the pursuit of tenure).Drawing on data collected from a teaching development project and adopting a reflective autobiographic approach,this article delineates the collaborative relationship between Author 1 and Sunshine-mother,exemplifying the important roles that coaching and a free rein(i.e.,weightlessness)play in the development of junior teacher-educators under the strong pressure of academic gravity.

Understanding and Supporting Chinese ESL Students＇ Language Development and Pedagogical Acculturation

This paper is a brief summary of the authors＇ advising discourse with international ESL （English as a Second Language） students whose first language is Chinese. For these international students in the United States, being successful academically in a graduate education program requires more than a high entering score of TOEFL （Test of English as a Foreign Language） or GRE （Graduate Record Examination）. Cultural Difference and Language Proficiency——On Difficulties Faced by Chinese EAL Student Writers at Postgraduate Level

EFL students at universities have major challenges to overcome. Great attention has paid to improving such students the academic literacy skill they will need to succeed in higher education. Students at postgraduate level, especially those EAL students, tend to suffer growing difficulties in their academic writing. The essay focuses on the difficulties caused by cultural difference and insufficient language proficiency, especially faced by the Chinese EAL student writers. Finally, possible solutions will be brought forward in the conclusion.

文化强国背景下中国学术话语权评价体系的构建与提升路径探析——以中国社会科学学科为例

[目的/意义]目前在文化强国战略背景下,我国学术话语权正处在重要的发展阶段,学术话语权评价有助于促进中国学术应对新时代发展的挑战,推动中国特色学术话语权国际化和本土化,明晰未来中国学术话语权发展的总体方向与具体举措。[方法/过程]本文采用文献与网络调研、比较研究、科学计量学等方法,系统地梳理了国内外学术话语权的基本理论、实践脉络,立足于中国学术话语权国内外发展实践,基于学术主体视角,参照相关学术成果评价指标体系,并对中国社会科学学科进行了实证研究,在此基础上,进一步思考和分析了提升中国学术话语权的现实路径。[结论/发现]中国学术话语权评价的核心要素主要由学术引领力、学术竞争力、学术创新力和学术传播力4部分组成,通过实证分析发现中国社会科学学科的多数学科在国际上的地位还比较低。最后提出了提升中国学术话语权国际影响和地位可从这4个方面进行全面提升。

“饭圈”研究综述

“饭圈”是由追星粉丝逐渐发展而成的有组织、专业化的利益圈层。学界关于“饭圈”的研究成果丰硕,主要集中在饭圈相关概念、饭圈乱象及其表征、饭圈成因及其危害、饭圈治理策略等方面。系统梳理饭圈研究成果,发现其具有四大特点:一是历时短、发展快;二是关注度高,传播度广;三是多学科参与,新闻传播类占主导;四是饭圈评价多元化。虽然学界已有研究成果较为细致、深入,但仍存在一些薄弱环节:一是思想政治教育、管理学等学科参与度有限;二是饭圈偶像研究聚焦范围过窄;三是跨文化研究、比较研究较为薄弱;四是定量研究、微观研究较少。未来学界要增强部分学科对饭圈的研究,重视新型饭圈研究,加大不同年龄、不同类型饭圈群体的比较研究,进行跨文化研究,增加定量研究和微观研究。

新时代高校图书馆文化育人:价值意蕴、理论内涵、实践体系和关键路径

文化育人不仅是高校图书馆创新文化传承、开展思政教育与引领信息文化的现实需求,也是助力高等院校实现立德树人根本任务的关键举措。高校图书馆文化育人职能体系由物质文化育人、行为文化育人、制度文化育人和精神文化育人构成,这四种文化育人形态从下到上呈现金字塔型结构。湘潭大学图书馆以“体现立德树人正确导向,服务人的全面自由发展”为总体目标,坚持主体、客体、介体和环体全覆盖,综合采用群体濡化、资源涵化、活动培育和环境滋养文化育人组合模式,兼顾知识传授、能力培养、价值引领和品格塑造四位一体,探索出润物细无声式的文化育人实践体系。高校图书馆文化育人应注重目标导向体系的整体设计,完善协同育人活动的支持体系,建立面向学生持续受益的长效机制,探求更深层次、更宽领域、更高质量的工作成效。

中国特色哲学社会科学构建研究:历程、聚焦与反思

“加快构建中国特色哲学社会科学”是新时代的重要命题,通过文献综述研究发现,2003年至今的研究历程,是以习近平总书记《在哲学社会科学工作座谈会上的讲话》、给《文史哲》编辑部全体编辑回信以及习近平文化思想的提出等标志性事件为节点,经历了“中国特色”的酝酿、正式概念的提出与阐释、加快着力构建与升华等研究阶段。目前学界研究成果主要聚焦于六个方面,即习近平总书记关于中国特色哲学社会科学的重要论述研究,以及“加快构建中国特色哲学社会科学”的本体研究、建构路径、“三大体系”、评价体系、期刊功能等。现有研究也存在着可持续性议题欠缺,研究内容同质化明显,理论与实践、宏观与微观不协调,问题意识不够突出等问题。进一步研究要注意四个方面:一是确立以习近平文化思想为指导研究路径;二是直面中国当下哲学社会科学研究中仍然存在的问题;三是深入具体学科深化、细化、精化对症下药;四是重视智库平台策划功能与学术期刊传播功能。

地方本科高校教学质量文化建设的探索

朱钧珍园林学术思想述评

朱钧珍是中国当代风景园林理论与实践的先驱者之一,作为中华人民共和国成立后第一批接受系统风景园林教育的前辈,其学术思想对于中国风景园林理论建设而言,具有奠基和开创意义。在第一版《中国大百科全书》中参与确立的“园林”定义反映了“结构性”和“艺术性”的认知;在“大地园林化”的时代背景下,拓展了“园林化”的“综合性”与“系统性”的专业视野;创造性地提出了园林植物配置的“空间组合”问题;在中国传统园林文化传承方面提出了系列的精粹传承项目;发展了中国近代园林史研究的“时域”观点和“视域”广度;初步搭建了以“景”为核心、整合中国传统园林“自然观”的理论体系,并名之“园理学”。这些学术探索是中国风景园林理论进一步建设和发展的宝贵思想财富。
