Multifactor dimensionality reduction analysis of syndrome characteristics of chronic persistent asthma

Objective:To analyze the syndrome characteristics in patients with chronic persistent asthma.Methods:365 patients(121 males,244 females,60.829.1 years old)with chronic persistent asthma were enrolled in this cross-sectional study.The information of syndrome,symptoms,signs,tongue coating and pulse were collected from all patients.The syndrome characteristics of chronic persistent asthma were examined through the multifactor dimensionality reduction(MDR)analysis and the results were verified by the Chi-square test.Results:The results of the MDR analysis and the Chi-square test showed the following positive correlation of the interaction among:the deficiency syndrome of the lung and spleen and deep pulse,disinclination to talk due to lack of qi,fatigue,lassitude and thick tongue coating;the deficiency syndrome of the lung and kidney and dizziness and disinclination to talk due to lack of qi,fatigue,lassitude and pallid complexion;the syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung and rapid pulse,abdominal distension,disinclination to talk due to lack of qi,frequent urination and lassitude;the syndrome of phlegm-dampness obstructing the lung and disinclination to talk due to lack of qi,greasy coating,fatigue and lassitude.(P<.05 for all).Conclusion:The syndrome of chronic persistent asthma is characterized by fatigue and lassitude due to dysfunction of the lung,spleen and kidney.

Analysis on Characteristics of Typical Syndromes of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome Based on the Feature Selection Method

Objective:To discover the population characteristics of the syndrome types of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.Methods:Data mining method for feature selection was used.Results:Main symptoms based on feature selection are as follows,deficiency of both qi and blood(pale complexion,fear of cold,easy to catch a cold,pale tongue,weak pulse);liver depression and qi stagnation with effulgent fire(anxiety,insomnia,chest and hypochondrium,irregular menstruation,thin and whitish coating on the tongue,stringy pulse);dual deficiency of qi and yin(low-grade fever and night sweating,yellow urine,pale complexion,dysphoria with feverish sensation in chest,dry cough with less phlegm,weakness,dizziness,dry and red tongue,little coating,thread and rapid pulse);deficiency of spleen and kidney,dampness pathogen blockage(diarrhea,loose stool,eat less and abdominal nausea,abdominal pain,sallow complexion,nausea,vomiting,loss of hair,deafness and tinnitus,pale tongue with whitish coating,deep and thready pulse,slippery and rapid pulse);qi deficiency with blood stasis(weakness,spontaneous sweating,dry mouth without desire to drink,easy to catch a cold,shortness of breath,sallow complexion,eat less and loose stools,dim tongue quality,hesitant pulse).Conclusion:Based on the feature selection method,we can find the main characteristics of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome,and provide objective reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Study on Canceration Law of Gastric Mucosal Dysplasia Based on Syndromes of Chinese Medicine

Objective： To study the syndrome evolution law of Chinese medicine （CM） in the patients with gastric mucosal dysplasia. Methods： Three hundred and twenty four gastric mucosal dysplasia patients with deficiency and excess correlation syndromes were enrolled by a multi-center collaboration for two years＇ clinical follow-up to detect the levels of tumor supplied group of factors （TSGF） and carcino-embryonic antigen （CEA）. Results： Among the 324 cases, 29 cases turned cancer in the two years, and the canceration rate was 9.0%. The three syndromes with higher canceration rate were the damp-heat accumulating Wei （if） syndrome concurring or combining with asthenia-cold in Pi （脾） and Wei syndrome for 16.7%; stagnation in Wei collaterals syndrome concurring or combining with asthenia of both qi and yin syndrome for 13.2%; stagnation of Gan （肝） and Wei qi syndrome concurring or combining with asthenia-cold in Pi and Wei syndrome for 8.0%, respectively. Among the three syndromes, the highest level of TSGF occurred in the former two syndromes. In the half year before carcinogenesis, the syndromes of the patients took on deficiency and excess concurrent syndromes, and the deficiency syndromes involving the qi and blood deficiency syndrome and the Shen （肾） deficiency syndrome accounting for 48.0%. Conclusions： Gastric mucosal dyspalsia canceration syndromes took on the polymorphism of excess and deficiency concurrent syndromes and had the characteristics of deficiency syndromes involving qi and blood deficiency syndrome and Shen-yin-yang deficiency syndrome.

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome associated disseminated Penicillium Marneffei infection: report of 8 cases

Penicillinosis Marneffei （PSM） is a rare fungal disease caused by systemic infection of Penicillium Mameffei （PM）. Disseminated PSM is one of the most common opportunistic infections in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome （AIDS） living in Southeastern region during the endstage of disease. Sporadic and individual cases have been reported recently in China and there appeared a tendency of increase of PM infections because of the increase of AIDS cases. To improve our understanding of this disease, we report here 8 cases of AIDS associated PSM.
