He/she has to quickly customize to the local needs his/her styles of strategic and operational decision-making, communication, and interpersonal approaches. His/her repertoire of leadership styles, arts, and skills has to be wider and richer in variety. He/she must quickly move from one host-country-focused approach to another, drawing the needed blend of leadership styles, arts, and skills from his/her repertoire and effectively applying them to the host country situation. Thus, a CEO must analyze his/her situation and re-orient his/her approach to fit the varying international situations, such as culture, operating, and subsidiary's organizational, economic, political, governmental, and technological. Existing in most family firms, the chief emotional officer (CEmO) is the enigmatic heart of the organisation, linking family harmony with business performance and productivity. The literature is rich in acknowledgin...Existing in most family firms, the chief emotional officer (CEmO) is the enigmatic heart of the organisation, linking family harmony with business performance and productivity. The literature is rich in acknowledging the existence and value of the CEmO in family firms, but little is said of the abilities mastered by CEmOs and how organisations can leverage the value of the CEmO through professional development. It is this nexus that this paper aims to fill. Commencing with an exploration of the literature on the purpose and value of the CEmO, key findings are advanced through interviews and a focus group. The specific site of research selected is one rich in family business in which to explore the CEmO phenomenon--the bus and coach industry in Victoria, Australia. Revealed is the fundamental competencies of the CEmO, being their adept ability to facilitate harmony, drive productive and focus values-based decision making in family firms. The outcomes that these competencies achieve and the obstacles and challenges of the CEmO role are also presented. Concluding remarks ask how the CEmO and these core competencies can be developed in a role that is often unstructured, intuitive, and unrecognised within the firm.展开更多

We find causes of economic and social recession in the Czech Repub...This article deals with the relation between ethics and financial and budgetary discipline during economic and social recession in the Czech Republic. We find causes of economic and social recession in the Czech Republic in the loss of democratic and human values. Czech Republic was ranked the 57th place in the Corruption Perceptions index 2013 out of the 177 countries assessed, which is the same result achieved by Bahrain, Croatia, and Namibia. Among the 31 European Union (EU) member states and Norway, Switzerland, and Iceland, the Czech Republic is on the 25th site. Market as well as public sector and public finances should follow unwritten rules of ethics and ethical behavior. Such rules should be followed especially by politicians, officials, soldiers, and businessmen. Do we need ethics in present time? How is the role of the code of ethics in increasing financial and budgetary discipline in the defence sector? Is it possible to measure efficiency of the code of ethics for financial and budgetary discipline? We explain the importance of codes of ethics and formulate essential elements that each code of ethics must contain. Next, we deal with the main rules of both financial and budgetary disciplines. Furthermore, this article offers a comparison of several codes of ethics and describes the main problems in our implementation. In the end, we introduce our draft of Code of Ethics for Economic Service Officer in the Ministry of Defence and talk about possible influences of these codes on the quality of employee's performance.展开更多
