An adaptive robust approach for actuator fault-tolerant control of a class of uncertain nonlinear systems is proposed.The two chief ways in which the system performance can degrade following an actuator-fault are undesirable transients and unacceptably large steady-state tracking errors.Adaptive control based schemes can achieve good final tracking accuracy in spite of change in system parameters following an actuator fault,and robust control based designs can achieve guaranteed transient response.However,neither adaptive control nor robust control based fault-tolerant designs can address both the issues associated with actuator faults.In the present work,an adaptive robust fault-tolerant control scheme is claimed to solve both the problems,as it seamlessly integrates adaptive and robust control design techniques.Comparative simulation studies are performed using a nonlinear hypersonic aircraft model to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme over a robust adaptive control based faulttolerant scheme. 展开更多

In this paper,indirect adaptive state feedback control schemes are developed to solve the robust fault-tolerant control (FTC) design problem of actuator fault and perturbation compensations for linear time-invariant systems.A more general and practical model of actuator faults is presented.While both eventual faults on actuators and perturbations are unknown,the adaptive schemes are addressed to estimate the lower and upper bounds of actuator-stuck faults and perturbations online,as well as to estimate control effectiveness on actuators.Thus,on the basis of the information from adaptive schemes,an adaptive robust state feed-back controller is designed to compensate the effects of faults and perturbations automatically.According to Lyapunov stability theory,it is shown that the robust adaptive closed-loop systems can be ensured to be asymptotically stable under the influence of actuator faults and bounded perturbations.An example is provided to further illustrate the fault compensation effectiveness. 展开更多

This robust and fault-tolerant control design consists of two parts: a nominal performance controller and a robustness controller, and works in such a way that when a component (sensor,actuator, etc.) failure is detected, the controller structure is reconfigured by adding a robustness loop to compensate the fault. To enhance the fault transient performance of aerospace multiphase permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM)system,an adaptive robust speed control is proposed regardless of the phase open-circuit(OC)and short-circuit(SC)fault in this paper,which can be applied for both the redundant motor system and fault tolerant motor system.For aerospace multiphase PMSM system,besides external load disturbance and system parameter perturbation,there inevitably exists the electromagnetic torque ripple in fault transient process,which can degrade the system performance and even cause the system instability.To cope with this issue,the electromagnet torque ripple of the multiphase PMSM system in fault transient process is first analyzed.Then,by considering the electromagnet torque fluctuation caused by fault transient as a system uncertainty,a novel adaptive robust speed control scheme is proposed,while the adaptive law is constructed to emulate the total system uncertainty bound,which include the load disturbance,the parameter variation,and the electromagnetic torque fluctuation due to fault transient.The resulting control can ensure the speed control performance even in fault transient process regardless of the uncertainty,in which no prior estimation of the uncertainty bound is required.In addition,the proposed adaptive robust speed control is demonstrated by a six-phase PMSM experimental platform.The novelty of this research is to explore a novel adaptive robust speed control to strengthen the fault tolerance performance of multiphase PMSM system even in fault transient process,which requires no prior estimation of the uncertainty bound. 展开更多

In this paper, we present a high performance control method for position control of DC motors. Fault-tolerant control model are also addressed to combine with neuro-robust control approach. It is shown that with the proposed control algorithms, external disturbances and coupled dynamics inherent in the system are effectively compensated using neural network unit in which no analytical estimation on the upper bound of the reconstruction error and uncertainties is needed. This paper reviews the research work done on the Reliability Analysis of Controller Area Network (CAN) based systems. During the last couple of decades, real-time researchers have extended schedulability analysis to a mature technique which for nontrivial systems can be used to determine whether a set of tasks executing on a single CPU or in a distributed system will meet their deadlines or not [1-3]. The main focus of the real-time research community is on hard real-time systems, and the essence of analyzing such systems is to investigate if deadlines are met in a worst case scenario. Whether this worst case actually will occur during execution, or if it is likely to occur, is not normally considered. Reliability modeling, on the other hand, involves study of fault models, characterization of distribution functions of faults and development of methods and tools for composing these distributions and models in estimating an overall reliability figure for the system [4]. This paper is concerned with the robust adaptive fault-tolerant control of a tandem coaxial ducted fan aircraft under system uncertainty, mismatched disturbance, and actuator saturation.For the proposed aircraft, comprehensive controllability analysis is performed to evaluate the controllability of each state as well as the margin to reject mismatched disturbance without any knowledge of the controller. Mismatched disturbance attenuation is ensured through a structured Hinfinity controller tuned by a non-smooth optimization algorithm. Embedded with the H-infinity controller, an adaptive control law is proposed in order to mitigate matched system uncertainty and actuator fault. Input saturation is also considered by the modified reference model. Numerical simulation of the novel ducted fan aircraft is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The simulation results reveal that the proposed adaptive controller achieves better transient response and more robust performance than classic Model Reference Adaptive Control(MRAC) method, even with serious actuator saturation. 展开更多

This paper analyzes fault-tolerance over the entire design life of a class of multiple-hop wireless networks, where cooperative transmission schemes are used. The networks are subject to both node failure and random channel fading. A node lifetime distribution is modeled with an increasing failure rate, where the node power consumption level enters the parameters of the distribution. A method for assessing both link and network reliabilities projected at the network's design life is developed. Link reliability is enhanced through use of redundant nodes. The number of redundant nodes is restricted by the cooperative transmission scheme used. The link reliability is then used to establish a re-transmission control policy that minimizes an expected cost involving power, bandwidth expenditures, and packet loss. The benefit and cost of feedback in network operations are examined. The results of a simulation study under specific node processing times are presented. The study quantifies the effect of loop closure frequency, acknowledgment deadline, and nodes' storage capacity on the performance of the network in terms of network lifetime, packet loss rate, and false alarm rate. The study concludes that in a network where energy is severely constrained, feedback must be applied judiciously. 展开更多

The problem of linear systems subject to actuator faults(outage,loss of efectiveness and stuck),parameter uncertainties and external disturbances is considered.An active fault compensation control law is designed which utilizes compensation in such a way that uncertainties,disturbances and the occurrence of actuator faults are account for.The main idea is designing a robust adaptive output feedback controller by automatically compensating the fault dynamics to render the close-loop stability.According to the information from the adaptive mechanism,the updating control law is derived such that all the parameters of the unknown input signal are bounded.Furthermore,a disturbance decoupled fault reconstruction scheme is presented to evaluate the severity of the fault and to indicate how fault accommodation should be implemented.The advantage of fault compensation is that the dynamics caused by faults can be accommodated online.The proposed design method is illustrated on a rocket fairing structural-acoustic model. 展开更多
