Methods: A total of 20 cases of CP children were subjected into this study. Changes of systolic peak value (Vs), blood flow velocity at the end-diastolic phase (Ved), mean velocity (Vm), pulsation index (PI) and resistance index (RI) of the cerebral hemodynamics before and after performing JIN’s Three-Needling Therapy with the needles retained for 30 min (group A) and 5 min (group B) were observed by using transcranial Doppler ultrasonography (TCD). Results: After acupuncture, the blood flow in the middle cerebral artery (MCA), anterior cerebral artery (ACA) and posterior cerebral artery (PCA) was accelerated, and the resistance of blood vessels decreased. The effect of needle-retaining-30 min was better than that of needle-retaining-5 min. Conclusion: In treating cerebral paralysis by using JIN’s Three-Needling Therapy, sufficient stimulation provided by needle remaining is an important factor for achieving satisfactory therapeutic effects.展开更多

Methods: A total of 80 acute stroke patients were randomly divided into a control group (40 cases) and an observation group (40 cases). Conventional Western medicine management was employed in the control group, while additional acupuncture and Chinese herbal formula were employed in the observation group. After completing the sessions of treatment, changes of the motor function (using the US National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, NIHSS) and activities of daily living (using Barthel Index) were measured. Results: The total effective rate in the observation group was 87.5%, versus 62.5% in the control group, showing a statistical difference (P〈0.05). After the treatment, the motor function and activities of daily living of patients in both groups were markedly improved (P〈0.05), and those in the observation group presented with a better result (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Conventional Western medicine management coupled with acupuncture and Chinese herbal formula are beneficial to the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with cerebral infarction.展开更多

Method: Sixty three patients were randomly divided into a treatment group of 32 cases and a control group of 31 cases. The treatment group received mind-tranquilizing acupuncture and the control group, oral depression relieving and mind-calming herbal granules, for 30 days. Results: The response rate was 87.5% in the treatment group and 77.4% in the control group. There were significant differences in falling-sleep time, lasting period and times of nocturnal waking (P 〈 0.05) and a very significant difference in dream improvement (P〈 0.01) between the two groups. There were no significant differences in afterwaking conditions and sleep evaluation (P〉 0.05). Conclusion: Clinically mind tranquilizing acupuncture has a better effect on insomnia than depression-relieving and mind-calming herbal granules.展开更多

Forty cases of acne were treated by acupuncture plus herbal drugs (acupuncture and drug group, A) and 30 cases were treated by simple acupuncture as the control group (acupuncture group, B). The results showed basic cure in 31 cases, remarkable effect in 5 cases, effect in 3 cases, failure in 1 case and the total effective rate of 97.5% in Group A, and basic cure in 16 cases, remarkable effect in 6 cases, effect in 3 cases, failure in 5 cases and the total effective rate of 83. 3% in Group B. There was no significant difference (P>0.05) in the therapeutic effect and there was a significant difference (P<0.01) in the curative rate in the two groups. The therapeutic effect was obviously better in Group A than in Group B. Methods: Forty cases in the treatment group were treated with acupuncture plus herbal formula and 38 cases in the control group were treated with oral Doxepin. The assessment was conducted by Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and the Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale (TESS) before, during and after treatment. Results: The total effective rate was respectively 82.50% in the treatment group and 84.21% in the control group, with a significant difference in SAS assessment (P〈0.01) between the two groups before and after the treatment. There were no significant differences in the curative and remarkable effective rate, total effective rate and SAS assessment between the two groups (P〉0.05), but the side effect was higher in the control group than in the treatment group (P〈0.01). Conclusion: Acupuncture plus herbal formula can have a precise effective effect for extensive anxiety neurosis with mild toxic side effects.展开更多
