BACKGROUND Cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis is a common middle-aged and elderly disease,but its pathogenesis is not fully understood,and its clinical treatment has limitations.Glucosamine sulfate capsules are co...BACKGROUND Cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis is a common middle-aged and elderly disease,but its pathogenesis is not fully understood,and its clinical treatment has limitations.Glucosamine sulfate capsules are commonly used for treating arthritis,and San Bi Tang is a classic formula of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)that has the effects of warming yang,dispelling dampness,relaxing muscles,and activating collaterals.This research hypothesized that the combination of modified San Bi Tang and glucosamine sulfate capsules could enhance the clinical efficacy of treating cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis through complementary effects.AIM To analyze the clinical efficacy of San Bi Tang combined with glucosamine sulfate capsules when treating cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis.METHODS A total of 110 patients with cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis were selected as research subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group of 55 cases each.The control group received only treatment with glucosamine sulfate capsules,while the experimental group received additional treatment with modified San Bi Tang for a duration of 5 wk.The patients’knee joint functions,liver and kidney function indicators,adverse reactions,and vital signs were evaluated and analyzed using SPSS 26.0 software.RESULTS Before treatment,the two groups’genders,ages,and scores were not significantly different,indicating comparability.Both groups’scores improved after treatment,which could indicate pain and knee joint function improvement,but the test group had better scores.The TCM-specific symptoms and the clinical efficacy of the treatment in the test group were higher.Before and after treatment,there were no abnormalities in the patients’liver and kidney function indicators.CONCLUSION The combination of modified San Bi Tang and glucosamine sulfate capsules is superior to treatment with sulfated glucosamine alone and has high safety.展开更多

Rats were randomly divide...This study was carried out in the Wistar rats to investigate the effect of Tang herb on the pharmacokinetics of the antiretroviral drug lopinavir (LPV) following single oral administration. Rats were randomly divided into LPV group (36 mg/kg) and LPV combining with Tang herb group (LPV: 36 mg/kg, Tang herb: 864 mg/kg). The blood concentrations of lopinavir at 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 22 h after administration were determined by HPLC and the pharmacokinetic parameters were investigated. The results showed that Tang herb significantly increased the Cmax and A UC (P〈0.05) while slightly increased the t1/2z and Tmax of lopinavir (P〉0.05). The present study suggests that Tang herb may delay the absorption, increase the time to reach the maximum concentration, and improve the bioavailability of LPV. Further evaluation of the possible interaction mechanism between Tang herb and LPV needs to be studied.展开更多

In contrast, the traditional Chinese Medi- cine remedy Wen Dan Tang reduces insomnia-related anxiety, which may perhaps correspond to changes in the brain-gut axis. This suggests a possible relationship between Wen Dan Tan^s pharmacological mechanism and the brain-gut axis. Based on this hypothesis, a sleep-deprived rat model was induced and Wen Dan Tang was administered using oral gavage during model es- tablishment. Wen Dan Tang significantly reduced insomnia-related anxiety and prevented Ghrelin level decreases following sleep deprivation, especially in the hypothalamus. Increased expression of Ghrelin receptor mRNA in the hypothalamus was also observed, suggesting that reduced anxi- ety may be a result of Wen Dan Tan's regulation of Ghrelin-Ghrelin receptors.展开更多

METHODS: Eighty-five patients with chr...AIM: To explore the effect of He .lie Tang (decoction for medication) on serum levels of T lymphocyte subsets, NK cell activity and cytokines in chronic hepatitis B patients. METHODS: Eighty-five patients with chronic hepatitis B were divided randomly into two groups. Fifty patients in group I were treated with He .lie Tang (HIT) and 35 patients in group II were treated with combined medication. The levels of T-lymphocyte subsets (CD^3+, CD^4+, CD^8+), NK cell activity, cytokines (TNF-α, IL-8, sIL-2R) were observed before and after the treatment. Another 20 normal persons served as group 3. RESULTS: The level of CD^4+ cells and NK cell activity were lower, whereas the level of CD^8+ cells in patients was higher than that in normal persons (t = 2.685, 3.172, and 2.754 respectively; P〈0.01). The levels of TNF-α, IL-8, and sIL-2R in chronic hepatitis B patients were higher than those in normal persons (t = 3.526, 3.170, and 2.876 respectively; P〈0.01). After 6 months of treatment, ALT, AST, and TB levels in the two groups were obviously decreased (t = 3.421, 3.106, and 2.857 respectively; P〈0.01). The level of CD^4+ cells and NK cell activity were increased whereas the level of CD^8+ cells decreased (t = 2.179, 2.423, and 2.677 respectively; P〈0.05) in group I. The levels of TNF-α, IL-8, and sIL- 2R in group I were decreased significantly after the treatment (t = 2.611, 2.275, and 2.480 respectively; P〈0.05) but had no significant difference in groupII after the treatment (t = 1.906, 1.833, and 2.029 respectively; P〉0.05). The total effective rate had no significant difference between the two groups (X^2 = 2.882, P〉0.05) but the markedly effective rate was significantly different between the two groups (X^2 = 5.340, P〈0.05). CONCLUSION: HIT is effective in treating chronic hepatitis B. HIT seems to exert its effect by improving the cellular immune function and decreasing inflammatory cytokines in chronic hepatitis B patients. The function of HIT in protecting liver function in the process of eliminating virus needs to be further studied.展开更多

The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of Zhenwu Tang Granule on chronic pressure-overloaded left ventricular hypertrophy in rats.METHODS: The study was performed at the laboratory of Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Disease. Male SD rats were divided randomly into 3 groups: sham operation group (n=8), operation group (n=15) and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) group (n=15).The model of myocardial hypertrophy was made by gradually constricting the abdominal aorta. Sixteen weeks later, cardiac ultrasonography was performed in all groups in order to ascertain post-operational left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy. And Zhenwu Tang Granule was added at a dose of 12 g/kg in the mixed feedstuff for 8 weeks in the TCM group. In the 24th week, weight, structure as well as function of the heart in each group were measured by high-frequency ultrasonography, and Masson's staining was performed on the cardiac muscles. Meanwhile, total collagen volume fraction (CVF-T) and non-coronary vessel collagen volume fraction (CVF-NV) were analyzed.RESULTS: There was an increase in the weight of the heart in the operation group, with the left ventricule dominated (P〈0.05). The heart was enlarged, with diastolic interventricular septal distance (IVSd) and left ventricular posterior wall distance (LVPWd) dominated (P〈0.01).There was a significant decrease in the cardiac function (P〈0.05). The weight (P〈0.01) and volume of the heart decreased in the TCM group compared with the operation group, with IVSd and systolic left ventricular posterior wall dominated (P〈0.01). And the cardiac function was improved (P〈0.05). Significant interstitial and collagen hyperplasia was shown in the operation group based on pathological analysis, and various improvements were proved in the TCM group, i.e. there was a significant decrease in CVF-T and CVF-NV (P〈0.01) compared with the operation group; but no difference (P〉0.05) was found when compared with the pseudo-operation group.CONCLUSION: Zhenwu Tang Granule could reduce the weight and volume of the heart, improve the cardiac function, inhibit hyperplasia of collagen, and reverse myocardial hypertrophy in rats with pressure-overloaded left ventricular hypertrophy.展开更多
OBJECTIVE To investigate the mechanisms of Xiaobanxia Tang(XBXT)in the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.METHODS The chemotherapy-induced rat pica model was established by intraperit...OBJECTIVE To investigate the mechanisms of Xiaobanxia Tang(XBXT)in the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.METHODS The chemotherapy-induced rat pica model was established by intraperitoneal injection of cisplatin 6mg·kg-1.Kaolin consumption was used as an indicator of nausea and vomiting.Wistar male rats were randomly divided into normal control,XBXT normal control,model,ondansetron treating,XBXT decoction high and low dose groups.The rats in ondansetron group,XBXT normal control group,XBXT high and low dose groups were gavaged ondansetron 2.6mg·kg-1·d-1,XBXT 1.6,3.2and 1.6g·kg-1·d-1,respectively 1hbefore cisplatin injection,and the administration were given every 12 h.Kaolin consumptions were weighed every 12 h.After 24 hand 72hof cisplatin injection,animals were sacrificed respectively.The contents of 5-HT,5-HIAA,dopamine(DA),DOPAC,substance P(SP),TPH,MAO and TH were measured by ELISA.The mRNA expression of 5-HT transporter(SERT),5-HT3 Areceptor,SP precursor(PPTA),NK1 and D2receptors in rat ileum and medulla oblongata were measured by RT-PCR,the protein expression were measured by Western blotting.RESULTS The high and low dosages of XBXT could significantly inhibit kaolin consumptions in cisplatin-treated rats,and reduce5-HT,increase 5-HIAA contents and reduce 5-HT3 Areceptor mRNA and protein expression,above effects are related to the reduction of TPH and the enhancement of MAOA levels.The two dosages of XBXT could significantly reduce SP and NK1 mRNA and protein expression,which was related to the reduction of PPTA mRNA expression.XBXT could also significantly reduce DA contents and D2 receptor mRNA and protein expression,which was related to the reduction of TH.CONCLUSION XBXT has significant antiemetic effect in chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting,the underlying mechanisms are related to the inhibition of 5-HT and5-HT3 Areceptor,SP and NK1 receptor,DA and D2 receptor.展开更多

HPLC fingerprints were...Using Dachengqi Tang(DCQT) as a model, high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)fingerprints were applied to optimize machine extracting process with the Box–Behnken experimental design. HPLC fingerprints were carried out to investigate the chemical ingredients of DCQT; synthetic weighing method based on analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and criteria importance through intercriteria correlation(CRITIC) was performed to calculate synthetic scores of fingerprints; using the mark ingredients contents and synthetic scores as indicators, the Box–Behnken design was carried out to optimize the process parameters of machine decocting process under high pressure for DCQT. Results of optimal process showed that the herb materials were soaked for 45 min and extracted with 9 folds volume of water in the decocting machine under the temperature of 140 1C till the pressure arrived at 0.25 MPa;then hot decoction was excreted to soak Dahuang and Mangxiao for 5 min. Finally, obtained solutions were mixed, filtrated and packed. It concluded that HPLC fingerprints combined with the Box–Behnken experimental design could be used to optimize extracting process of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).展开更多

Thus the present study was designed to investigate therapeutic effects of Zhutan Tongluo Tang on intracerebral hemorrhage in rats, induced by injecting collagenase into one side of the caudate nucleus. Fibrinolytic indices including tissue plasminogen activator, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 and D-Dimer were determined. The results obtained demonstrated that Zhutan Tongluo Tang treatment could alleviate the neural and behavioral impairments of intracerebral hemorrhaging rats. Increased frequencies of placing their forelimb correctly and decreased frequencies of turning left were observed. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay showed that Zhutan Tongluo Tang could significantly elevate the concentration of plasma tissue plasminogen activator and D-Dimer, while depress plasminogen activator inhibitor-1. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated increased levels of catalase and glutathione in whole brain rat tissue following intracerebral hemorrhage. In addition, elevated expression of Bcl-2 in various hippocampal regions was seen. These findings describe the ability of Zhutan Tongluo Tang to activate the fibrinolytic system, and suggests that antioxidant and apoptosis inhibitory mechanisms may be playing a crucial role in protecting against collagenase-induced intracerebral hemorrhage.展开更多

The present studies explored the effects of Danggui Buxue Tang (DBT) that is a Chinese medicinal de- coction on negative charge to Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cell (HUVEC) and the related mechanism. Alcian blue staining was established to evaluate the intensity of negative charge on HUVEC. Proteoglycan expressions of AGP and avidin were determined by SDS-PAGE. We observed that DBT can significantly increase negative charge on HU-VEC and up-regulated AGP and avidin expressions and ameliorate AGEs-induced HUVEC apoptosis. Therefore, all results showed DBT had prevention effects against the progression of AGEs-induced damage, and this decoction might be promising agent against proteinuria in diabetic nephropathy.展开更多
Objective:To test two theories from traditional Chinese medicine:'exterior -interior relationship between the lung and large intestine' and 'treating from the intestine principle for lung disorders'.Th...Objective:To test two theories from traditional Chinese medicine:'exterior -interior relationship between the lung and large intestine' and 'treating from the intestine principle for lung disorders'.The influence of intestine-based treatment using Xuan Bai Cheng Qi Tang (XBCQT) on the concentration of three trace elements-copper (Cu),zinc (Zn),and manganese (Mn)-was observed in the tissues of the lung,small intestine,large intestine,and stomach of rats suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Methods:Thirty-five male Wistar rats were divided randomly and equally into five groups:control;model;Fei treatment (A);Chang treatment (B);and Fei-Chang treatment (C).A rat model of COPD was prepared by tracheal injection of lipopolysaccharide plus exposure to cigarette smoke.Treatments with medicinal herbs started day-22 of administration and exposure to cigarette smoke for 7 days.The control group and model group were administered physiologic (0.9%) saline solution via the stomach.After 7 days of intervention,the tissues of the lung,small intestine,large intestine,and stomach were removed.Inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy was used to detect the levels of Cu,Zn,and Mn in those tissues.Results:Compared with the control group,the Cu concentration in the tissues of the small intestine,large intestine,and stomach increased significantly in the model group (P <.05);the Mn concentration in the tissues of the lung,large intestine,and stomach increased significantly in the model group (P <.05);the Zn concentration in the tissues of the lung and large intestine decreased significantly in the model group (P <.05).In comparison of the model group:the Cu concentration in the tissues of the lung and large intestine decreased significantly in the B group (P <.05);the Mn concentration in the tissues of the lung,small intestine,and large intestine decreased significantly in the B group (P <.05);the Zn concentration in the tissues of the lung,small intestine,and large intestine increased significantly in the B group (P <.05).For the A group versus C group comparison,the Zn concentration in the tissues of the small intestine and stomach increased significantly in the latter (P <.05).Conclusion:This study showed that 'treating from the intestine' using Xuan Bai Cheng Qi Tang and its modified formulae can regulate the concentration of trace elements in the main organs of COPD rats.This may be one of the mechanisms for intestine-based treatment for COPD.展开更多

Methods Wistar rats (n=60) were randomly divided into 6 groups (10 in each) to receive no treatment (the normal control, Group A), or to receive intra-peritoneal 55 mg/kg streptozotocin with (Groups C, D and E) or without (Group B) subsequent Jiang Tang Fang Long formula treatment at various doses or Yu Long Wan treatment (Group F). After 60 days, fasting blood glucose (FBG), body weight (BW) and fasting insulin (FINS) were recorded and the HOMA-IR and HOMA-βcalcu-lated. Insulin expression in pancreatic tissues was measured by radioimmunoassay. Results Compared with animals that received streptozotocin without rescue treatment (Group B), animals that received higher doses of Jiang Tang Fang Long formula(Groups D and E) showed improved indices of diabetes manifestation (P<0.05) and improved HOMA-β(P<0.05) in a dose-dependent manner, as well as improved insulin expression in pancreatic islets (P<0.05). The difference between low dose Jiang Tang Fang Long formula treatment (Group C) and Group B was not significant (P>0.05). Conclusion Our results suggest that Jiang Tang Fang Long formula may improve pancreatic β-cells function which may explain its efficacy in treating diabetic hearing loss.展开更多

Methods: Experimental intestinal obstruction models were established in rats and autoradiography with 3 H-TdR was used to determine 3H-TdR labeling counts of intestinal epithelial cells in rats. Results: DCQT granule had no effects on 3H-TdR labeling counts of intestinal epithelial cells in normal rats. DCQT granule obviously increases the rate of renovation in intestinal epithelial cells of the intestinal obstruction rats. Conclusion: DCQT granule could reinforce the intestinal mucosa's defensive function by means of increasing the proliferation of intestinal epithelial cells.展开更多
In this study, we compared Ma Huang Tang (maoto), a traditional Japanese medicine (Kampo), with antiviral drugs to evaluate their respective and combined effect on the duration of fever and other subjective symptoms o...In this study, we compared Ma Huang Tang (maoto), a traditional Japanese medicine (Kampo), with antiviral drugs to evaluate their respective and combined effect on the duration of fever and other subjective symptoms of influenza. Forty-five patients enrolled in this randomized control trial had positive type A influenza on rapid influenza antigen test, provided written consent, and sought treatment at Juntendo University Hospital between November 2008 and March 2009. Using a computer-gen- erated list, patients were randomly assigned to one of the four intervention groups: 1): maoto (TJ-27), 9 subjects;2): Tamiflu (oseltamivir), 13 subjects;3): Relenza (zanamivir), 6 subjects;and 4): maoto/oseltamivir combination, 9 subjects. Six outcome measures were evaluated, including fever, myalgia, headache, arthralgia, fatigue, and cough. Statistical differences were determined by the Bonferroni-adjusted t-test for multiple comparisons. Our results showed that there were no significant differences among the four groups in the time-course profile of fever and the number of days until fever resolution since treatment was initiated. In addition, no significant intergroup differences were detected in the number of days until resolution of myalgia, headache, fatigue, and cough. However, the maoto group reported a more rapid improvement in joint pain than the oseltamivir group (P = 0.01). In conclusion, maoto showed comparable efficacy as antiviral medications in reducing fever and influenza symptoms. As serious concerns over the indiscriminate use, adverse reactions, and resistance to current antiviral drugs continue to grow, maoto may serve as an elegant option for the treatment of influenza.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND Cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis is a common middle-aged and elderly disease,but its pathogenesis is not fully understood,and its clinical treatment has limitations.Glucosamine sulfate capsules are commonly used for treating arthritis,and San Bi Tang is a classic formula of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)that has the effects of warming yang,dispelling dampness,relaxing muscles,and activating collaterals.This research hypothesized that the combination of modified San Bi Tang and glucosamine sulfate capsules could enhance the clinical efficacy of treating cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis through complementary effects.AIM To analyze the clinical efficacy of San Bi Tang combined with glucosamine sulfate capsules when treating cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis.METHODS A total of 110 patients with cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis were selected as research subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group of 55 cases each.The control group received only treatment with glucosamine sulfate capsules,while the experimental group received additional treatment with modified San Bi Tang for a duration of 5 wk.The patients’knee joint functions,liver and kidney function indicators,adverse reactions,and vital signs were evaluated and analyzed using SPSS 26.0 software.RESULTS Before treatment,the two groups’genders,ages,and scores were not significantly different,indicating comparability.Both groups’scores improved after treatment,which could indicate pain and knee joint function improvement,but the test group had better scores.The TCM-specific symptoms and the clinical efficacy of the treatment in the test group were higher.Before and after treatment,there were no abnormalities in the patients’liver and kidney function indicators.CONCLUSION The combination of modified San Bi Tang and glucosamine sulfate capsules is superior to treatment with sulfated glucosamine alone and has high safety.

文摘This study was carried out in the Wistar rats to investigate the effect of Tang herb on the pharmacokinetics of the antiretroviral drug lopinavir (LPV) following single oral administration. Rats were randomly divided into LPV group (36 mg/kg) and LPV combining with Tang herb group (LPV: 36 mg/kg, Tang herb: 864 mg/kg). The blood concentrations of lopinavir at 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 22 h after administration were determined by HPLC and the pharmacokinetic parameters were investigated. The results showed that Tang herb significantly increased the Cmax and A UC (P〈0.05) while slightly increased the t1/2z and Tmax of lopinavir (P〉0.05). The present study suggests that Tang herb may delay the absorption, increase the time to reach the maximum concentration, and improve the bioavailability of LPV. Further evaluation of the possible interaction mechanism between Tang herb and LPV needs to be studied.

文摘Ghrelin, a brain-gut peptide that induces anxiety and other abnormal emotions, contributes to the effects of insomnia on emotional behavior. In contrast, the traditional Chinese Medi- cine remedy Wen Dan Tang reduces insomnia-related anxiety, which may perhaps correspond to changes in the brain-gut axis. This suggests a possible relationship between Wen Dan Tan^s pharmacological mechanism and the brain-gut axis. Based on this hypothesis, a sleep-deprived rat model was induced and Wen Dan Tang was administered using oral gavage during model es- tablishment. Wen Dan Tang significantly reduced insomnia-related anxiety and prevented Ghrelin level decreases following sleep deprivation, especially in the hypothalamus. Increased expression of Ghrelin receptor mRNA in the hypothalamus was also observed, suggesting that reduced anxi- ety may be a result of Wen Dan Tan's regulation of Ghrelin-Ghrelin receptors.

文摘AIM: To explore the effect of He .lie Tang (decoction for medication) on serum levels of T lymphocyte subsets, NK cell activity and cytokines in chronic hepatitis B patients. METHODS: Eighty-five patients with chronic hepatitis B were divided randomly into two groups. Fifty patients in group I were treated with He .lie Tang (HIT) and 35 patients in group II were treated with combined medication. The levels of T-lymphocyte subsets (CD^3+, CD^4+, CD^8+), NK cell activity, cytokines (TNF-α, IL-8, sIL-2R) were observed before and after the treatment. Another 20 normal persons served as group 3. RESULTS: The level of CD^4+ cells and NK cell activity were lower, whereas the level of CD^8+ cells in patients was higher than that in normal persons (t = 2.685, 3.172, and 2.754 respectively; P〈0.01). The levels of TNF-α, IL-8, and sIL-2R in chronic hepatitis B patients were higher than those in normal persons (t = 3.526, 3.170, and 2.876 respectively; P〈0.01). After 6 months of treatment, ALT, AST, and TB levels in the two groups were obviously decreased (t = 3.421, 3.106, and 2.857 respectively; P〈0.01). The level of CD^4+ cells and NK cell activity were increased whereas the level of CD^8+ cells decreased (t = 2.179, 2.423, and 2.677 respectively; P〈0.05) in group I. The levels of TNF-α, IL-8, and sIL- 2R in group I were decreased significantly after the treatment (t = 2.611, 2.275, and 2.480 respectively; P〈0.05) but had no significant difference in groupII after the treatment (t = 1.906, 1.833, and 2.029 respectively; P〉0.05). The total effective rate had no significant difference between the two groups (X^2 = 2.882, P〉0.05) but the markedly effective rate was significantly different between the two groups (X^2 = 5.340, P〈0.05). CONCLUSION: HIT is effective in treating chronic hepatitis B. HIT seems to exert its effect by improving the cellular immune function and decreasing inflammatory cytokines in chronic hepatitis B patients. The function of HIT in protecting liver function in the process of eliminating virus needs to be further studied.

文摘Danggui Buxue Tang(DBT)is composed of Astragali Radix and Angelicae Sinensis Radix in a weight ratio of 5:1.The recipe of the decoction is simple,and DBT has been widely used in the treatment of blood deficiency syndrome for more than 800 years in China.Studies on its chemical constituents show that saponins,flavonoids,volatile oils,organic acids,and polysaccharides are the main components of DBT.Many techniques such as third-generation sequencing,PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis,and HPLC-MS have been used for the quality control of DBT.DBT has a wide range of biological activities,including blood enhancement,antagonizing diabetic nephropathy,cardiovascular protection,immunity stimulation,estrogen-like effect,and antifibrosis,among others.In this paper,we summarize the recent research advances of DBT in terms of its components,pharmacological activities,and possible mechanisms of action as well as provide suggestions for further research.
文摘BACKGROUND: In the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, few studies have focused on the compound preparations though there are many investigations. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of Zhenwu Tang Granule on chronic pressure-overloaded left ventricular hypertrophy in rats.METHODS: The study was performed at the laboratory of Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Disease. Male SD rats were divided randomly into 3 groups: sham operation group (n=8), operation group (n=15) and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) group (n=15).The model of myocardial hypertrophy was made by gradually constricting the abdominal aorta. Sixteen weeks later, cardiac ultrasonography was performed in all groups in order to ascertain post-operational left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy. And Zhenwu Tang Granule was added at a dose of 12 g/kg in the mixed feedstuff for 8 weeks in the TCM group. In the 24th week, weight, structure as well as function of the heart in each group were measured by high-frequency ultrasonography, and Masson's staining was performed on the cardiac muscles. Meanwhile, total collagen volume fraction (CVF-T) and non-coronary vessel collagen volume fraction (CVF-NV) were analyzed.RESULTS: There was an increase in the weight of the heart in the operation group, with the left ventricule dominated (P〈0.05). The heart was enlarged, with diastolic interventricular septal distance (IVSd) and left ventricular posterior wall distance (LVPWd) dominated (P〈0.01).There was a significant decrease in the cardiac function (P〈0.05). The weight (P〈0.01) and volume of the heart decreased in the TCM group compared with the operation group, with IVSd and systolic left ventricular posterior wall dominated (P〈0.01). And the cardiac function was improved (P〈0.05). Significant interstitial and collagen hyperplasia was shown in the operation group based on pathological analysis, and various improvements were proved in the TCM group, i.e. there was a significant decrease in CVF-T and CVF-NV (P〈0.01) compared with the operation group; but no difference (P〉0.05) was found when compared with the pseudo-operation group.CONCLUSION: Zhenwu Tang Granule could reduce the weight and volume of the heart, improve the cardiac function, inhibit hyperplasia of collagen, and reverse myocardial hypertrophy in rats with pressure-overloaded left ventricular hypertrophy.

文摘OBJECTIVE To investigate the mechanisms of Xiaobanxia Tang(XBXT)in the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.METHODS The chemotherapy-induced rat pica model was established by intraperitoneal injection of cisplatin 6mg·kg-1.Kaolin consumption was used as an indicator of nausea and vomiting.Wistar male rats were randomly divided into normal control,XBXT normal control,model,ondansetron treating,XBXT decoction high and low dose groups.The rats in ondansetron group,XBXT normal control group,XBXT high and low dose groups were gavaged ondansetron 2.6mg·kg-1·d-1,XBXT 1.6,3.2and 1.6g·kg-1·d-1,respectively 1hbefore cisplatin injection,and the administration were given every 12 h.Kaolin consumptions were weighed every 12 h.After 24 hand 72hof cisplatin injection,animals were sacrificed respectively.The contents of 5-HT,5-HIAA,dopamine(DA),DOPAC,substance P(SP),TPH,MAO and TH were measured by ELISA.The mRNA expression of 5-HT transporter(SERT),5-HT3 Areceptor,SP precursor(PPTA),NK1 and D2receptors in rat ileum and medulla oblongata were measured by RT-PCR,the protein expression were measured by Western blotting.RESULTS The high and low dosages of XBXT could significantly inhibit kaolin consumptions in cisplatin-treated rats,and reduce5-HT,increase 5-HIAA contents and reduce 5-HT3 Areceptor mRNA and protein expression,above effects are related to the reduction of TPH and the enhancement of MAOA levels.The two dosages of XBXT could significantly reduce SP and NK1 mRNA and protein expression,which was related to the reduction of PPTA mRNA expression.XBXT could also significantly reduce DA contents and D2 receptor mRNA and protein expression,which was related to the reduction of TH.CONCLUSION XBXT has significant antiemetic effect in chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting,the underlying mechanisms are related to the inhibition of 5-HT and5-HT3 Areceptor,SP and NK1 receptor,DA and D2 receptor.

文摘Using Dachengqi Tang(DCQT) as a model, high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)fingerprints were applied to optimize machine extracting process with the Box–Behnken experimental design. HPLC fingerprints were carried out to investigate the chemical ingredients of DCQT; synthetic weighing method based on analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and criteria importance through intercriteria correlation(CRITIC) was performed to calculate synthetic scores of fingerprints; using the mark ingredients contents and synthetic scores as indicators, the Box–Behnken design was carried out to optimize the process parameters of machine decocting process under high pressure for DCQT. Results of optimal process showed that the herb materials were soaked for 45 min and extracted with 9 folds volume of water in the decocting machine under the temperature of 140 1C till the pressure arrived at 0.25 MPa;then hot decoction was excreted to soak Dahuang and Mangxiao for 5 min. Finally, obtained solutions were mixed, filtrated and packed. It concluded that HPLC fingerprints combined with the Box–Behnken experimental design could be used to optimize extracting process of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).

文摘The neuroprotective effect of Zhutan Tongluo Tang is associated with the activities of the fibrinolytic system. Thus the present study was designed to investigate therapeutic effects of Zhutan Tongluo Tang on intracerebral hemorrhage in rats, induced by injecting collagenase into one side of the caudate nucleus. Fibrinolytic indices including tissue plasminogen activator, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 and D-Dimer were determined. The results obtained demonstrated that Zhutan Tongluo Tang treatment could alleviate the neural and behavioral impairments of intracerebral hemorrhaging rats. Increased frequencies of placing their forelimb correctly and decreased frequencies of turning left were observed. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay showed that Zhutan Tongluo Tang could significantly elevate the concentration of plasma tissue plasminogen activator and D-Dimer, while depress plasminogen activator inhibitor-1. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated increased levels of catalase and glutathione in whole brain rat tissue following intracerebral hemorrhage. In addition, elevated expression of Bcl-2 in various hippocampal regions was seen. These findings describe the ability of Zhutan Tongluo Tang to activate the fibrinolytic system, and suggests that antioxidant and apoptosis inhibitory mechanisms may be playing a crucial role in protecting against collagenase-induced intracerebral hemorrhage.

In order to improve the living environment and make the city coordinate with the natural environment, the development of modern urban gardens needs inheritance and development of traditional garden practices. The planning and design methods with scientific guidance were studied in this paper through exploring the application of garden design style in Tang Dynasty in the design of modern city public gardens, so as to inherit the classical garden culture and create a city open space that meets the needs of contemporary citizens as well.
文摘Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) have been regarded as a pivotal inducer in diabetes and kinds of diabetic nephropathy. The present studies explored the effects of Danggui Buxue Tang (DBT) that is a Chinese medicinal de- coction on negative charge to Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cell (HUVEC) and the related mechanism. Alcian blue staining was established to evaluate the intensity of negative charge on HUVEC. Proteoglycan expressions of AGP and avidin were determined by SDS-PAGE. We observed that DBT can significantly increase negative charge on HU-VEC and up-regulated AGP and avidin expressions and ameliorate AGEs-induced HUVEC apoptosis. Therefore, all results showed DBT had prevention effects against the progression of AGEs-induced damage, and this decoction might be promising agent against proteinuria in diabetic nephropathy.
文摘Objective:To test two theories from traditional Chinese medicine:'exterior -interior relationship between the lung and large intestine' and 'treating from the intestine principle for lung disorders'.The influence of intestine-based treatment using Xuan Bai Cheng Qi Tang (XBCQT) on the concentration of three trace elements-copper (Cu),zinc (Zn),and manganese (Mn)-was observed in the tissues of the lung,small intestine,large intestine,and stomach of rats suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Methods:Thirty-five male Wistar rats were divided randomly and equally into five groups:control;model;Fei treatment (A);Chang treatment (B);and Fei-Chang treatment (C).A rat model of COPD was prepared by tracheal injection of lipopolysaccharide plus exposure to cigarette smoke.Treatments with medicinal herbs started day-22 of administration and exposure to cigarette smoke for 7 days.The control group and model group were administered physiologic (0.9%) saline solution via the stomach.After 7 days of intervention,the tissues of the lung,small intestine,large intestine,and stomach were removed.Inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy was used to detect the levels of Cu,Zn,and Mn in those tissues.Results:Compared with the control group,the Cu concentration in the tissues of the small intestine,large intestine,and stomach increased significantly in the model group (P <.05);the Mn concentration in the tissues of the lung,large intestine,and stomach increased significantly in the model group (P <.05);the Zn concentration in the tissues of the lung and large intestine decreased significantly in the model group (P <.05).In comparison of the model group:the Cu concentration in the tissues of the lung and large intestine decreased significantly in the B group (P <.05);the Mn concentration in the tissues of the lung,small intestine,and large intestine decreased significantly in the B group (P <.05);the Zn concentration in the tissues of the lung,small intestine,and large intestine increased significantly in the B group (P <.05).For the A group versus C group comparison,the Zn concentration in the tissues of the small intestine and stomach increased significantly in the latter (P <.05).Conclusion:This study showed that 'treating from the intestine' using Xuan Bai Cheng Qi Tang and its modified formulae can regulate the concentration of trace elements in the main organs of COPD rats.This may be one of the mechanisms for intestine-based treatment for COPD.
文摘Objective To study the influence of Jiang Tang Fang Long formula on insulin production and function in an animal model of diabetic hearing loss. Methods Wistar rats (n=60) were randomly divided into 6 groups (10 in each) to receive no treatment (the normal control, Group A), or to receive intra-peritoneal 55 mg/kg streptozotocin with (Groups C, D and E) or without (Group B) subsequent Jiang Tang Fang Long formula treatment at various doses or Yu Long Wan treatment (Group F). After 60 days, fasting blood glucose (FBG), body weight (BW) and fasting insulin (FINS) were recorded and the HOMA-IR and HOMA-βcalcu-lated. Insulin expression in pancreatic tissues was measured by radioimmunoassay. Results Compared with animals that received streptozotocin without rescue treatment (Group B), animals that received higher doses of Jiang Tang Fang Long formula(Groups D and E) showed improved indices of diabetes manifestation (P<0.05) and improved HOMA-β(P<0.05) in a dose-dependent manner, as well as improved insulin expression in pancreatic islets (P<0.05). The difference between low dose Jiang Tang Fang Long formula treatment (Group C) and Group B was not significant (P>0.05). Conclusion Our results suggest that Jiang Tang Fang Long formula may improve pancreatic β-cells function which may explain its efficacy in treating diabetic hearing loss.

文摘Objective: To study the effects of Dachengqi Tang (DCQT) granule on the proliferation of the intestinal epithelial cells in rats with experimental intestinal obstruction. Methods: Experimental intestinal obstruction models were established in rats and autoradiography with 3 H-TdR was used to determine 3H-TdR labeling counts of intestinal epithelial cells in rats. Results: DCQT granule had no effects on 3H-TdR labeling counts of intestinal epithelial cells in normal rats. DCQT granule obviously increases the rate of renovation in intestinal epithelial cells of the intestinal obstruction rats. Conclusion: DCQT granule could reinforce the intestinal mucosa's defensive function by means of increasing the proliferation of intestinal epithelial cells.
文摘In this study, we compared Ma Huang Tang (maoto), a traditional Japanese medicine (Kampo), with antiviral drugs to evaluate their respective and combined effect on the duration of fever and other subjective symptoms of influenza. Forty-five patients enrolled in this randomized control trial had positive type A influenza on rapid influenza antigen test, provided written consent, and sought treatment at Juntendo University Hospital between November 2008 and March 2009. Using a computer-gen- erated list, patients were randomly assigned to one of the four intervention groups: 1): maoto (TJ-27), 9 subjects;2): Tamiflu (oseltamivir), 13 subjects;3): Relenza (zanamivir), 6 subjects;and 4): maoto/oseltamivir combination, 9 subjects. Six outcome measures were evaluated, including fever, myalgia, headache, arthralgia, fatigue, and cough. Statistical differences were determined by the Bonferroni-adjusted t-test for multiple comparisons. Our results showed that there were no significant differences among the four groups in the time-course profile of fever and the number of days until fever resolution since treatment was initiated. In addition, no significant intergroup differences were detected in the number of days until resolution of myalgia, headache, fatigue, and cough. However, the maoto group reported a more rapid improvement in joint pain than the oseltamivir group (P = 0.01). In conclusion, maoto showed comparable efficacy as antiviral medications in reducing fever and influenza symptoms. As serious concerns over the indiscriminate use, adverse reactions, and resistance to current antiviral drugs continue to grow, maoto may serve as an elegant option for the treatment of influenza.
