As a matter of fact, it took much longer for Tanzania and Zambia to accept China＇s offer than it took China to ponder over giving such an offer. With the help of some newly released primary materials, this paper reveals how Nyerere and Kaunda＇s encounter with China shaped their decision-making regarding the Tanzam Railway, gradually dropping their deep-rooted doubts regarding China ＂s attitude, capacity as well as motive.展开更多
