Comparative Studies between Picard’s and Taylor’s Methods of Numerical Solutions of First Ordinary Order Differential Equations Arising from Real-Life Problems

To solve the first-order differential equation derived from the problem of a free-falling object and the problem arising from Newton’s law of cooling, the study compares the numerical solutions obtained from Picard’s and Taylor’s series methods. We have carried out a descriptive analysis using the MATLAB software. Picard’s and Taylor’s techniques for deriving numerical solutions are both strong mathematical instruments that behave similarly. All first-order differential equations in standard form that have a constant function on the right-hand side share this similarity. As a result, we can conclude that Taylor’s approach is simpler to use, more effective, and more accurate. We will contrast Rung Kutta and Taylor’s methods in more detail in the following section. 展开更多

The aim of this study is to give a Legendre polynomial approximation for the solution of the second order linear hyper-bolic partial differential equations (HPDEs) with two variables and constant coefficients. For this purpose, Legendre matrix method for the approximate solution of the considered HPDEs with specified associated conditions in terms of Legendre polynomials at any point is introduced. The method is based on taking truncated Legendre series of the functions in the equation and then substituting their matrix forms into the given equation. Thereby the basic equation reduces to a matrix equation, which corresponds to a system of linear algebraic equations with unknown Legendre coefficients. The result matrix equation can be solved and the unknown Legendre coefficients can be found approximately. Moreover, the approximated solutions of the proposed method are compared with the Taylor [1] and Bernoulli [2] matrix methods. For that purpose, we construc... In this paper, the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection model of CD4+ T-cells is considered. In order to numerically solve the model problem, an operational method is proposed. For that purpose, we construct the operational matrix of integration for bases of Taylor polynomials. Then, by using this matrix operation and approximation by polynomials, the HIV infection problem is transformed into a system of algebraic equations, whose roots are used to determine the approximate solutions. An important feature of the method is that it does not require collocation points. In addition, an error estimation technique is presented. We apply the present method to two numerical examples and compare our results with other methods. 展开更多
