Continuing professional development (CPD) is one of the principal means by which health professionals (Nurses and midwives) maintain, improve, and broaden the knowledge and skills required for optimal patient care and...Continuing professional development (CPD) is one of the principal means by which health professionals (Nurses and midwives) maintain, improve, and broaden the knowledge and skills required for optimal patient care and safety, to be more specific reduction of maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity. However, the lack of a widely accepted instrument to assess the impact of CPD activities on clinical practice thwarts researchers’ assessment of the effectiveness of CPD activities. The objective of the study is to develop a theory and practice-based, valid, reliable national instrument to assess the impact of accredited CPD activities on reducing maternal and neonatal mortality in Kenya using an integrated model for the study of healthcare professionals’ behavior through environmental scanning of the factors that promote good performance. The researcher will analyze the instruments identified in a systematic review of factors motivating and demotivating nurses and midwives’ behaviours using criteria that reflect the literature on measurement development of CPD leaders and providers’ priorities. The outcome of this phase will be an inventory of instruments using a competence-based model. Working from this inventory, the most relevant items for assessing the concepts listed will be selected. Then, the researcher will verify whether these items are acceptable or need modification, what aspects need revision, and whether important items are missing and should be added. The outcome of this phase will be a new national instrument integrating the most relevant tools to fit our integrated model of healthcare professionals’ behavior. Two data collections are planned: 1) pretesting of the new instrument, to assess its reliability and validity and 2) a study using the instrument before and after CPD activities with randomly selected groups, one acting as control group to assess measurement effect. The researcher will conduct individual interviews and focus groups with CPD providers and leaders to identify anticipated barriers and enablers for implementing the new instrument in CPD practice. Drawing on the results from the previous phases, we will use consensus-building methods with the decision makers to develop a plan to implement the new instrument.展开更多

Designing and implementing an effective radiologic technology educational program curriculum requires a disciplined pedagogical approach where the instructor performs a thorough situational analysis, develops a theory based and pragmatic learning plan, and implements a course of study in accordance with the established educational guidelines and requirements. Diligent efforts are needed to enhance the relationship amongst curriculum developers and evaluators. The collection of information at the formative stage: followed by process evaluation to assess implementation as the curriculum progresses, and summative evaluation to assess impact is required for accreditation of program in the United States by the Joint Review Committee for Education in Radiologic Technology. Formative evaluation research is used to enhance effectiveness of the curriculum, guide development of teaching and learning strategies, and reveal promising and ineffective components of curriculum. Based on the analysis of the digital foundation and transformation demands of teacher development,the paper proposes a logical architecture of teachers’digital learning from the perspective of 70-20-10 model for lear...Based on the analysis of the digital foundation and transformation demands of teacher development,the paper proposes a logical architecture of teachers’digital learning from the perspective of 70-20-10 model for learning and development,including self-learning based on platform resources(10%),blended learning based on collaborative support(20%),and embedded learning based on work scenarios(70%).Then,a pyramid model of evaluation and governance for teacher development needs that is compatible with the three types of learning paradigms is proposed,i.e.,focusing on using teacher portraits to evaluate learning behaviors,using skills certification to evaluate knowledge and competencies,and focusing on ethics to promote practical wisdom.Finally,to support the transformation of learning paradigms plus evaluation and governance,this paper proposes an action architecture of service upgrading for digital transformation in teacher development,namely,creating a multi-level coherent online learning architecture for platformization,creating a seamless learning space with multi-dimensional integration for ecologization,and leading the transformation from just-in-time learning to just-in-need practice for practicalization,ultimately realizing a leap of teachers’practical wisdom.展开更多
