Teaching Cultural Strategies for Undergraduate Chinese-English Translation in Chinese Context

Although in China, ordinary translation theories favor the foreignizing strategy in translating culture, and outside China, there are opposing strategies between the cultural studies school and deconstructionist school, translation teachers should be fully aware of their respective revelations and limitations to translation teaching. This paper holds that in undergraduate C-E （Chinese-English~ translation teaching, the linguistic strategy is assimilation rather than alienation, thus, idiomaticness and preciseness should be emphasized. In teaching cultural translation strategy, first, we should promote students＇ cultural competence, which includes culture perceptive competence, culture comparison competence, culture evaluation competence, and culture mediation competence. Second, we need differentiate cultural strategies to translate literary and practical materials. In translating practical materials, functionality determines adaptation or exoticization; in translating literary materials, when cultural factor is the topic of writing, exoticization is employed for the main except that part of politeness system in institutional culture, abstract concrete conversion and description affection model in spiritual culture are adapted. When cultural factor is the background of writing, it is the target text aestheticality and readership intertextuality that determine adaptation or exoticization.

On the Strategies of the Current College English“Cross-cultural Teaching”

With the quick development of globalization and intercultural communication,especially under"the new normal","Strong Socialist Culture"national polices of China,cross-cultural communication"is so necessary and urgent for the college English teaching,while the current culture teaching is only one-way,not two-way.That is not truly cross-cultural teaching and communication.Strategies are suggested to improve it.

Using Cooperative Learning Strategies to Cultural Background Teaching in College English

The aim of this innovation project is toconduct a pilot by employing cooperative learning strategies, peer assessment and self-assessment in the process of teaching cultural background in College English Integrated Course to change teachers' role as a dominator as that to explore a feasible yet effective way which will help students to learn the cultural background and obtained some cognitive progress in performance and achievements. According to the findings obtained from the survey, we can see that by employing of the cooperative learning strategy, students' enthusiasm, participation and learning effectiveness have been greatly enhanced. What's more, the application of cooperative learning strategy in teaching cultural background not only motivated students, enhanced students' critical thinking but also reduced teachers' heavy workload. It is a win-win situation both for teacher and the students.

The Application of Heuristic Teaching in the Cultivation of College Stu⁃ dents’English Cultural Consciousness

The purpose of college English education is not only to cultivate students’ability to learn English independently,but al⁃so to improve their comprehensive cultural literacy to meet the needs of China’s social development and international exchanges.However,teachers have often neglected the cultivation of students’cultural consciousness because of the influence of traditional teaching mode.This paper proposes that heuristic teaching mode should be adopted.Teachers should focus on students’subjective status in the teaching process and exert external factors to induce students’subjective initiative in cultivating their culture con⁃sciousness.Therefore,this article will make a concrete analysis of the practical application of heuristic teaching mode in college classrooms from three perspectives:the definition and significance of heuristic teaching,the premise of heuristic teaching,and how to implement it.

Exploration of the Cultural Connotation of “Traditional Festivals” Eco-Curriculum in Primary Schools

Chinese traditional festivals with rich historical and cultural connotations fully reflect Chinese children’s national cultural emotions and values.It is of great significance to explore the cultural connotations behind traditional festivals in primary school’s civics and political curriculum,and to cultivate primary school students’traditional cultural identity and increase their cultural self-confidence and patriotism through multi-channel and multi-form innovative educational strategies and curriculum design.

A new strategy of integrating American culture with English teaching ＆ learning by using VOA Special English feature programs

The paper mainly studies a new way of combining American culture with English language teaching and learning by means of the VOA Special English feature programs. It is based on a 5-year period of teaching practice, experience and reflection. This interactive, innovative, productive and student-centered approach is a far cry from the rigid, old, unproductive and teacher-centered approach of teaching British and American culture without combining language learning and practice as is commonly used here in Chinese colleges. The author also throws some light on how to use on-line teaching resources and how to cultivate independent learning on the part of the students he has worked with.

The Strategy of Integrating Enterprise Culture into College English Teaching Under the New Curriculum Reform

With the overall promotion of the new curriculum reform, teachers’ teaching ideas have greatly changed. Under this background, how to apply the concept of new curriculum reform guide the reform of college English teaching is an important task. Therefore, it is very important to study the teaching strategies of college English teaching. Culture and language are complementary and inseparable, which requires us to carry out cultural teaching during English teaching process. In this paper, we focus on the strategy of integrating enterprise cultures into college English teaching, and discuss several cultural teaching problems in college English class. As a language required course, English not only strengthen the learners’ language skills, but also enhance humanistic quality of students. However, current college English teaching takes the examination as the goal, which cannot meet the needs of the learner’s professional stuff. We propose the strategy of integrating the professional background into English teaching, in order to improve the students’ ability of comprehensive application of English and the professional quality.

Language is not only part of culture,but also the carrier.The relationship between them decides the important role of culture teaching in language teaching.However,some problems still exist in college English teaching.For example,classroom English teaching time is not enough for culture teaching;English learners'native language thinking has negative transfer in the target language learning,etc..In order to solve these problems,this paper tends to discuss whether English teaching should put an emphasis on Big-C Culture or Little-c Culture.

合作型学校文化何以影响教师教学策略——基于教学效能感、组织承诺的中介效应分析

教师教学策略水平是提高教育教学质量的有效保证。学校文化为教师专业成长提供文化环境,是影响教师教学策略改进的重要因素。以W市14个区的4594名小学教师为调查对象,综合运用描述性统计、相关分析和结构方程模型等方法,探究合作型学校文化对教师教学策略的影响机制,以及教学效能感、组织承诺的中介效应。研究表明,合作型学校文化能显著促进教师教学策略改进;教学效能感、组织承诺在合作型学校文化和教师教学策略之间发挥部分中介作用,且教学效能感——组织承诺在合作型学校文化和教师教学策略之间具有链式中介作用。为持续提高教师教学策略水平,提高教育教学质量,应充分发挥校长文化领导作用,创设合作型学校文化;建立民主互助的教师团队,激发教师教学效能感;构建共生共治共享共荣的管理环境,培育教师组织承诺感。
