This paper introduced the Genetic Algorithms (GAs) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), which have been widely used in optimization of allocating. The combination way of the two optimizing algorithms was used in board allocating of furniture production. In the experiment, the rectangular flake board of 3650 mm 1850 mm was used as raw material to allocate 100 sets of Table Bucked. The utilizing rate of the board reached 94.14 % and the calculating time was only 35 s. The experiment result proofed that the method by using the GA for optimizing the weights of the ANN can raise the utilizing rate of the board and can shorten the time of the design. At the same time, this method can simultaneously searched in many directions, thus greatly in-creasing the probability of finding a global optimum. 展开更多

Landslide susceptibility maps(LSMs) play a vital role in assisting land use planning and risk mitigation. This study aims to optimize causative factors using logistic regression(LR) and an artificial neural network(ANN) to produce a LSM. The LSM is produced with 11 causative factors and then optimized using forward-stepwise LR(FSLR), ANN, and their combination(FSLR-ANN) until eight causative factors were found for each method. The ANN method produced superior validation results compared with LR. The ROC values for the training data set ranges between 0.8 and 0.9. On the other hand, validation with the percentage of landslide fall into LSM class high and very high, ANN method was higher(92.59%) than LR(82.12%). FSLR-ANN with nine causative factors gave the best validation results with respect to area under curve(AUC) values, and validation with the percentage of landslide fall into LSM class high and very high. In conclusion, ANN was found to be better than LR when producing LSMs. The best Optimization was combination of FSLR-ANN with nine causative factors and AUC success rate 0.847, predictive rate 0.844 and validation with landslide fall into high and very high class with 91.30%. It is an encouraging preliminary model towards a systematic introduction of FSLR-ANN model for optimization causative factors in landslide susceptibility assessment in the mountainous area of Ujung Loe Watershed. 展开更多

In order to improve turbine internal efficiency and lower manufacturing cost, a new highly loaded rotating blade has been developed. The 3D optimization design method based on artificial neural network and genetic algorithm is adopted to construct the blade shape. The blade is stacked by the center of gravity in radial direction with five sections. For each blade section, independent suction and pressure sides are constructed from the camber line using Bezier curves. Three-dimensional flow analysis is carried out to verify the performance of the new blade. It is found that the new blade has improved the blade performance by 0.5%. Consequently, it is verified that the new blade is effective to improve the turbine internal efficiency and to lower the turbine weight and manufacturing cost by reducing the blade number by about 15%. 展开更多

In computational physics proton transfer phenomena could be viewed as pattern classification problems based on a set of input features allowing classification of the proton motion into two categories: transfer 'occurred' and transfer 'not occurred'. The goal of this paper is to evaluate the use of artificial neural networks in the classification of proton transfer events, based on the feed-forward back propagation neural network, used as a classifier to distinguish between the two transfer cases. In this paper, we use a new developed data mining and pattern recognition tool for automating, controlling, and drawing charts of the output data of an Empirical Valence Bond existing code. The study analyzes the need for pattern recognition in aqueous proton transfer processes and how the learning approach in error back propagation (multilayer perceptron algorithms) could be satisfactorily employed in the present case. We present a tool for pattern recognition and validate the code including a real physical case study. The results of applying the artificial neural networks methodology to crowd patterns based upon selected physical properties (e.g., temperature, density) show the abilities of the network to learn proton transfer patterns corresponding to properties of the aqueous environments, which is in turn proved to be fully compatible with previous proton transfer studies. 展开更多

In the goal optimization and control optimization process the problems with common artificial neural network algorithm are unsure convergence, insufficient post-training network precision, and slow training speed, in which partial minimum value question tends to occur. This paper conducted an in-depth study on the causes of the limi-tations of the algorithm, presented a rapid artificial neural network algorithm, which is characterized by integrating multiple algorithms and by using their complementary advan-tages. The salient feature of the method is self-organization, which can effectively prevent the optimized results from tending to be partial minimum values. Overall optimization can be achieved with this method, goal function can be searched for in overall scope. This paper proposes an artificial neural network(ANN) based software reliability model trained by novel particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm for enhanced forecasting of the reliability of software. The proposed ANN is developed considering the fault generation phenomenon during software testing with the fault complexity of different levels. We demonstrate the proposed model considering three types of faults residing in the software. We propose a neighborhood based fuzzy PSO algorithm for competent learning of the proposed ANN using software failure data. Fitting and prediction performances of the neighborhood fuzzy PSO based proposed neural network model are compared with the standard PSO based proposed neural network model and existing ANN based software reliability models in the literature through three real software failure data sets. We also compare the performance of the proposed PSO algorithm with the standard PSO algorithm through learning of the proposed ANN. Statistical analysis shows that the neighborhood fuzzy PSO based proposed neural network model has comparatively better fitting and predictive ability than the standard PSO based proposed neural network model and other ANN based software reliability models. Faster release of software is achievable by applying the proposed PSO based neural network model during the testing period. 展开更多

Therefore, these kinds of buildings are susceptible to wind-induced vibration. Tuned Mass Damper(TMD) can be used as an effective device to mitigate excessive vibrations. In this study, Artificial Neural Networks is used to find optimal mechanical properties of TMD for high-rise buildings subjected to wind load. The patterns obtained from structural analysis of different multi degree of freedom(MDF) systems are used for training neural networks. In order to obtain these patterns, structural models of some systems with 10 to 80 degrees-of-freedoms are built in MATLAB/SIMULINK program. Finally, the optimal properties of TMD are determined based on the objective of maximum displacement response reduction. The Auto-Regressive model is used to simulate the wind load. In this way, the uncertainties related to wind loading can be taken into account in neural network’s outputs. After training the neural network, it becomes possible to set the frequency and TMD mass ratio as inputs and get the optimal TMD frequency and damping ratio as outputs. As a case study, a benchmark 76-story office building is considered and the presented procedure is used to obtain optimal characteristics of the TMD for the building. 展开更多

The flash points of organic compounds were estimated using a hybrid method that includes a simple group contribution method (GCM) implemented in an artificial neural network (ANN) with particle swarm optimization (PSO). Different topologies of a multilayer neural network were studied and the optimum architecture was determined. Property data of 350 compounds were used for training the network. To discriminate different substances the molecular structures defined by the concept of the classical group contribution method were given as input variables. The capabilities of the network were tested with 155 substances not considered in the training step. The study shows that the proposed GCM+ANN+PSO method represent an excellent alternative for the estimation of flash points of organic compounds with acceptable accuracy (AARD = 1.8%; AAE = 6.2 K). 展开更多

A novel and effective artificial neural network(ANN) optimized using differential evolution(DE) is first introduced to provide a robust and reliable forecasting of jet grouted column diameters. The proposed computational method adopts the DE algorithm to tackle the difficulties in the training and performance of neural networks and optimize the four quintessential hyper-parameters(i.e.the epoch size, the number of neurons in a hidden layer, the number of hidden layers, and the regularization parameter) that govern the neural network efficacy. This approach is further enhanced by a stochastic gradient optimization algorithm to allow ’expensive’ computation efforts. The ANN-DE is first trained using a prepared jet grouting dataset, then verified and compared with the prevalent machine learning tools,i.e.neural networks and support vector machine(SVM).The results show that, the ANN-DE outperforms the existing methods for predicting the diameter of jet grouting columns since it well balances training efficiency and model performance.Specifically, the ANN-DE achieved root mean square error(RMSE)values of 0.90603 and 0.92813 for the training and testing phases, respectively. The corresponding values were 0.8905 and 0.9006 for the optimized ANN,then,0.87569 and 0.89968 for the optimized SVM,respectively. The proposed paradigm is bound to be useful for solving various geotechnical engineering problems regardless of multi-dimension and nonlinearity. 展开更多

Object detection(OD)in remote sensing images(RSI)acts as a vital part in numerous civilian and military application areas, like urban planning, geographic information system(GIS),and search and rescue functions.Vehicle recognition from RSIs remained a challenging process because of the difficulty of background data and the redundancy of recognition regions. The latest advancements in deep learning(DL)approaches permit the design of effectual OD approaches. This study develops an Artificial Ecosystem Optimizer with Deep Convolutional Neural Network for Vehicle Detection(AEODCNN-VD)model on Remote Sensing Images. The proposed AEODCNN-VD model focuses on the identification of vehicles accurately and rapidly. To detect vehicles, the presented AEODCNN-VD model employs single shot detector(SSD)with Inception network as a baseline model. In addition,Multiway Feature Pyramid Network(MFPN)is used for handling objects of varying sizes in RSIs.The features from the Inception model are passed into theMFPNformultiway andmultiscale feature fusion. Finally, the fused features are passed into bounding box and class prediction networks. For enhancing the detection efficiency of the AEODCNN-VD approach,AEO based hyperparameter optimizer is used, which is stimulated by the energy transfer strategies such as production, consumption, and decomposition in an ecosystem. The performance validation of the presentedmethod on benchmark datasets showed promising performance over recent DL models. 展开更多

With a reduction in transistor dimensions to the nanoscale regime of 45 nm or less, quantum mechanical effects begin to reveal themselves and have an impact on key device performance parameters. As a result, in order to develop simulation tools that can be used for the design of nanoscale transistors in the future, new theories and modelling methodologies must be developed that properly and effectively capture the physics of quantum transport. An artificial neural network(ANN) is used in this paper to examine nanoscale CMOS circuits and predict the performance parameters of CMOS-based digital inverters for a temperature range of 300 K to 400 K. The training algorithm included three hidden layers with sizes of 20, 10, and 8, as well as a function fitting ANN with Bayesian Backpropagation Regularization. Further, simulation through HSPICE using Predictive Technology Model(PTM) nominal parameters has been done to compare with ANN(trained using an analytical model) results. The obtained results lie within the acceptable range of 1%-10%. Moreover, it has also been demonstrated that the ANN simulation provides a speed improvement of around 85 % over the HSPICE simulation, and that it can be easily integrated into software tools for designing and simulating complicated CMOS logic circuits. 展开更多

A strategy of developing on-line optimization intelligent systems based on combiningflowsheeting simulation and optimization package with artificial neural networks(ANN)is presented inthis paper.A number of optimization cases for a certain chemical plant are obtained off-line byusing PROCESS-Ⅱ or other flowsheeting programming with optimization. Then, taking these cases astraining examples,we establish a neural network systems which can be used on-line as an optimizer toobtain setpoints from input data sampled from distributed control system through gross error detectionand data reconciliation procedures.Such an on-line optimizer possesses two advantages over nonlinearprogramming package:first of all, there is no convergence problem for the trained ANN to be usedonline;secondly, the frequency for setpoints updating is not limited because only algebraic calculationrather than optimization is required to be carried out on-line.Here two key problems ofimplementing ANN approaches to the on-line optimization 展开更多

Control chart patterns are categorized as natural and unnatural. The presence of unnatural patterns means that a process is out of statistical control and there are assignable causes for process variation that should be investigated. This paper proposes an artificial neural network algorithm to identify the three basic control chart patterns;natural, shift, and trend. This identification is in addition to the traditional statistical detection of runs in data, since runs are one of the out of control situations. It is assumed that a process starts as a natural pattern and then may undergo only one out of control pattern at a time. The performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated by measuring the probability of success in identifying the three basic patterns accurately, and comparing these results with previous research work. The comparison showed that the proposed algorithm realized better identification than others. 展开更多
