The foreland basin triggered a intense earthquake, and formed seismites and earthquake-related soft-sediment deformation. The soft-sediment deformation structures of Devonian in the eastern North Qilian Mts. consist of seismo-cracks, sandstone dykes, syn-depositional faults, microfoids (micro-corrugated lamination), fluidized veins, load casts, flame structures, pillow structures and brecciation. The seismo-cracks, syn-depositional faults and microfolds are cracks, faults and folds formed directly by oscillation of earthquake. The seismic dykes formed by sediment instilling into seismic cracks. Fluidized veins were made by instilling into the seismo-fissures of the fluidized sands. The load casts, flame structures and pillow structures were formed by sinking and instilling caused from oscillation of earthquake along the face between sandy and muddy beds. The brecciation resulted from the oscillation of earthquake and cracking of sedimentary layers. The seismites and soft-sediment deformations in Devonian triggered the earthquake related to tectonic activities during the orogeny and uplift of North Qilian Mts.展开更多

Gongga (贡嘎), China, since the early 20th century. Various data indicate that the glacier has retreated 1 822 m in the past 106 years, with an annual mean retreat of 17.2 m, and the front elevation has risen by 300 m since 1823. Comparison of glacier variations and temperature fluctuations in China and the Northern Hemisphere, over the last 100 years, indicates that glacier retreat stages occurred during the warm phase, and vice versa. Mass balance records during 1959/60-2003/04 have shown that the glacier has suffered a constant mass loss of snow and ice. The accumulated mass balance, -10.83 m water equivalent, indicates an annual mean value of -0.24 m water equivalent. The correlation between the mass balance and temperature is significant, which also indicates that climate warming is the crucial cause of glacier loss. Local hydrological and climatic data demonstrate that runoff from the glacier has been increasing both seasonally and annually. The correlation analysis and trend analysis indicate that ice and snow melted water is the main cause of an increase in the runoff. As the climate has become warmer, changes in the glacier surface morphology have obviously occurred. These include a decrease in glacier thickness, enlargement of glacial caves, and reduction of the size of clefts on the glacier surface. The ablation period has lengthened and the ablation area has expanded. A variety of factors thus provide evidence that the Hailuogou glacier has suffered a rapid loss of snow and ice as a result of climatic warming.展开更多

Based on the morphology and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) signal, totally 1500 particles were classed into 7 groups: soot; aluminosilicates; fly ash; calcium sulfates; Ca/Mg carbonates; metal oxides; and biological particles and carbon fragments. The size distribution and number fractions of different particle groups exhibited distinct seasonal variations between non-monsoon and monsoon periods, which are clearly related to the differences in air mass pathways. Specifically, the relative abundance of soot in non-monsoon period (25%) was much higher than that in monsoon period (14%), indicating Mt. Qomolangma region received more anthropogenic influence in non-monsoon than monsoon period.展开更多

Qomolangma Nature Reserve have been studied. The results show that: (1) There is remarkable spatial difference of natural vegetation changes in the Mt. Qomolangma Nature Reserve and stability is the most common status. There are 5.04% of the whole area being seriously degraded, 13.19% slightly degraded, 26.39% slightly improved, 0.97% significantly improved and 54.41% keeping stable. The seriously and slightly degraded areas, which mostly lie in the south of the reserve, are along the national boundaries. The areas of improved vegetation lie in the north of the reserve and the south side of the Yarlung Zangbo River. The stable areas lie between the improved and degraded areas. Degradation decreases with elevation. (2) Degeneration in the Mt. Qomolangma Nature Reserve mostly affects shrubs, needle-leaved forests and mixed forests. (3) The temperature change affects the natural vegetation changes spatially while the integration of temperature changes, slopes and aspects affects the natural vegetation change along the altitude gradients. (4) It is the overuse of resources that leads to the vegetation degeneration in some parts of the Mt. Qomolangma Nature Reserve.展开更多

Biomarkers detected in the microcalcsparite from the Wanlong and Xingmincun formations in the Jilin-Liaoning area showed there are abundant normal alkanes, isoprenoids, hopanes, steranes, alkylmethylcyclohexanes, and alkylcyclohexanes, indicating a diversity of biological source: long-chain isoprenoids, the major components of chlorophyll, such as C 19, C 20, a kind of major biomarkers synthesized early by isoprenoid monomers; hopanes a type of characteristic biomarkers from prokaryote, such as archaebacteria and cyanobacteria; sterane a biomarker for eukaryote; and two kinds of alkanes with C 17, C 18 as the main peaks representing aquatic bacteria and with C 23, C 24 as the main peaks representing fungi, respectively. Biomarker analysis showed that MT is the result of bacterial and algal activities, which is a kind of organisms between aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, reproducing well in normal or slightly saline sea water under weak oxidation-reduction conditions, resulting in rapid deposition of calcite as microsparite due to some mechanisms.展开更多

It is not only the main mechanism of intercontinental orogeny, but also an important ore-forming and ore-control structure. Studies on geotectonic evolution, regional geological characteristics and oreforming and ore-control structures have shown that since the Mesozoic the Da Hinggan Mts. region has entered a typical intercontinental orogenic stage, and it is closely related to mantle branch activities. The south-central segment of the Da Hinggan Mts. is a typical mantle branch structure and possesses obvious magmatic-metamorphic complexes in the core, detachment slip beds in the periphery and overlapped fault depression basins. Moreover, all of these are the principal factors leading to ore formation and ore control in the region. This paper also further explores the mechanism of mineralization in the south-central segment of the Da Hinggan, summaries the rules of mineralization, puts forward the models of mineralization and points out future ore-exploring orientation.展开更多

Some scientists believe the plateau uplifted to its highest elevation by 14Ma BP,and it decreased in elevation afterward. The second idea about the uplift of the plateau was similar to the first one in tectonic theory, but they consider the time of C3 plant change to C4 in the South Asia, as the time when the plateau reached its highest elevation. This time is 8Ma BP. The third idea, the most Chinese scientists believed, the nearest uplift of the plateau took place since 3 4Ma BP. The occurrence of fault depression and gravel deposit with large thickness in the inner and the marge of the plateau represented the speed uplift. After the collision of the India plate and the Eurasia plateau by the 36Ma, the Tibetean area uplifted several times, but it had been planed to lower area. The plateau with 4500m elevation formed in the Quaternary. While our recent research in the Kunlun Pass area suggest , the nearest uplift occurred at the border of the Early and Middle Pleistocene, and before that time, the elevation of this area was no more than 1500 m.展开更多

Qilian ocean originated from the rift of the late Proterozoic Rodinia continent(Pangea\|850), evolved through rift basin and became an archipelagic ocean in the Caledonian stage. The Lower Proterozoic strata in Qilian area are mid\|high\|rank metamorphic rocks that constitute the metamorphic basement of the area. The “Huangyuan Movement" (in South Qilian and Central Qilian) and "Alashan Movement" (in North Qilian) in the latest Late Proterozoic formed a regional unconformity. The middle Proterozoic in the area are mudstones and carbonate rocks with stromatolites and ooids. The Qingbaikou System of the upper Proterozoic in the North Qilian and Corridor region is also mudstone and carbonate rock with stromatolites. The Qingbaikou System in Central Qilian is sandstones and mudstones. There are alkaline and tholeiite in the Sinian System in North Qilian and Corridor. The contact between Qingbaikou System and Sinian System is a regional unconformity (Quanji Movement). Qilian ocean began to rift away in Caledonian tectonic stage on the Pre\|Sinian basement.展开更多

Named leukolysin, it encodes for 562 residueswith a conserved MMP structure, i.e., pre-, pro-, catalytic , hinge- and hemopexin-like domains, but also a RXK/RRmotif, known for its role in MMP zymogen activation, anda C-terminal hydrophobic segment. Overall, leukolysindisplays the strongest homology to the newly identifiedMT-MMP subgroup with 45% and 39% identities to MT4and MT1-MMPs vs 30% and 31.5% to MMP1 and 3 respectively. Unlike MT4-MMP whose proteolytic activityremains undefined, a C-terminally truncated leukolysin isexpressed as a strong gelatinolytic species at 28 kDa whichis derived from a cell-associated 34 kDa proenzyme, presumably by furin or proprotein convertase mediated removal of the propeptide (-6 kDa). By green fluorescentprotein (GFP) tagging, the intracellular proenzyme is localized to granules throughout the cell, suggesting thatactivation occur immediately prior to secretion. Taken together, leukolysin may be part of the proteolytic arsenaldeployed by leukocytes during inflammatory responses.展开更多

This paper reveals a definite complete ophiolite of Neoproterozoic-Early Paleozoic, named Kuda ophiolite in the western Kunlun Mrs., NW Tibetan Plateau, and reports the recent reasonable SHRIMP zircon U-Pb ages of 510±4 Ma, and 502±13 Ma for the cumulates of the Kuda ophiolite, using the most powerful dating tool, the SHRIMP-Ⅱ. The geochemical and geochronology data integrating with the geological setting suggest that the Kuda ophiolite might have formed in an archipelago oceanic basin, not in a vast ocean, the so-called "Proto-Tethys", and was tectonically emplaced during the Early Paleozoic.展开更多

METHODS: We constructed recombinant adenovirus containing p27mt by homologous recombination in bacteria. The colorectal cancer cell line Lovo was infected with recombinant replication-defective adenovirus Ad- p27mt, and expression of p27mt was determined by Western blotting; the inhibitory effect of p27mt on Lovo cells was detected by cytometry. Cell cycle was determined by flow cytometry. DNA fragment analysis identified the occurrence of apoptosis. RESULTS: The recombinant adenovirus which already contained p27mt target gene was successfully constructed. When multiplicity of infection was ≥50, the infection efficiency was 100%. After transfection of Lovo cells with Ad-p27mt the cells had high p27 expression which was identified by immunoblotting assay. PI staining and flow cytometry showed that 77.96% of colorectal cancer cells were inhibited in phase G0/G1, while in the Ad-LacZ group and blank control group, 27.57% and 25.29% cells were inhibited in the same phase, respectively. DNA fragment analysis, flow cytometry and TUNEL assay demonstrated that p27mt is able to induce apoptosis in colorectal cancer cells. CONCLUSION: p27mt has an obvious blocking effect on colorectal cancer cell cycle, and most cells were inhibited in phase G0/G1. Therefore, p27mt can induce apoptosis in colorectal cells.展开更多

The results demonstrated that due to its large area with glacier lakes at the tongue of the Rongbuk Glacier, a large amount of stream flow was found at night, which indicates the strong storage characteristic of the Rongbuk Glacier catchment. There was a time lag ranging from 8 to 14 hours between daily discharge peaks and maximum melting (maximum temperature). As melting went on the time lag got shorter. A high correlation was found between the hydrological process and daily temperature during the ablation period. The runoff from April to October was about 80% of the total in the observation period. Compared with the discharge data in 1959, the runoff in 2005 was much more, and the runoff in June, July and August increased by 69%, 35% and 14%, respectively. The rising of temperature is a major factor causing the increase in runoff. The discharges from precipitation and snow and ice melting are separated. The discharge induced by precipitation accounts for about 20% of the total runoff, while snow and ice melting for about 80%.展开更多

Qomolangma Nature Reserve.
文摘The origin of Molar Tooth(MT)carbonates has been argued for more than 100 years, which are a kind of Proterozoic carbonates especially composed of microsparite with ptygmatically folded and sheet-like structures. Biomarker analysis showed that MT is the result of bacterial and algal activities, which is a kind of organisms between aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, reproducing well in normal or slightly saline sea water under weak oxidation-reduction conditions, resulting in rapid deposition of calcite as microsparite due to some mechanisms.

文摘Mantle branch structure is the third tectonic unit of multiple evolution of a mantle branch. This paper also further explores the mechanism of mineralization in the south-central segment of the Da Hinggan, summaries the rules of mineralization, puts forward the models of mineralization and points out future ore-exploring orientation.
文摘Introduction There are big disputes on the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau. While our recent research in the Kunlun Pass area suggest , the nearest uplift occurred at the border of the Early and Middle Pleistocene, and before that time, the elevation of this area was no more than 1500 m.

文摘Qilian orogenic belt is a typical orogenic belt formed by polycyclic collisions between the North China plate and Qaidam microplate. Qilian ocean began to rift away in Caledonian tectonic stage on the Pre\|Sinian basement.
文摘A novel matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) was identified from leukocytes and found to be specifically expressedby peripheral blood leukocytes among 29 different tissuesexamined. Taken together, leukolysin may be part of the proteolytic arsenaldeployed by leukocytes during inflammatory responses.

文摘The early aged ophiolites have attracted attention of many geologists in recent decades, because the early aged ophiolites can provide the information about the ancient oceanic processes relevant to the evolution of plate tectonics in the early period of the earth, and also concern such problems as whether there existed a "Proto-Tethys" and the break-up and convergence of the Rodinian Supercontinent. The geochemical and geochronology data integrating with the geological setting suggest that the Kuda ophiolite might have formed in an archipelago oceanic basin, not in a vast ocean, the so-called "Proto-Tethys", and was tectonically emplaced during the Early Paleozoic.

文摘AIM: To construct p27mt recombinant adenovirus, transfect the colorectal cell line Lovo and observe the effects of p27mt on Lovo cell apoptosis and cell cycle inhibition. Therefore, p27mt can induce apoptosis in colorectal cells.

文摘Background:In biological systems, biological diversity often displays a rapid turn-over across elevations. This defining feature has made mountains classic systems for studying the spatial variation in diversity.Because patterns of elevational diversity can vary among lineages and mountain systems it remains difficult to extrapolate findings from one montane region to another,or among lineages. In this study,we assessed patterns and drivers of avian diversity along an elevational gradient on the eastern slope of Mt.Gongga, the highest peak in the Hengduan Mountain Range in central China, and a mountain where comprehensive studies of avian diversity are still lacking. Methods:We surveyed bird species in eight 400-m elevational bands from 1200 to 4400 m a.s.l.between 2012 and 2017.To test the relationship between bird species richness and environmental factors,we examined the relative importance of seven ecological variables on breeding season distribution patterns:land area(LA),mean daily temperature(MDT),seasonal temperature range(STR),the mid-domain effect(MDE),seasonal precipitation(SP),invertebrate biomass(IB) and enhanced vegetation index(EVI).Climate data were obtained from five local meteorological stations and three temperature/relative humidity smart sensors in 2016.Results:A total of 219 bird species were recorded in the field,of which 204 were recorded during the breeding season(April–August).Species richness curves(calculated separately for total species,large-ranged species, and smallranged species) were all hump-shaped.Large-ranged species contributed more to the total species richness pattern than small-ranged species.EVI and IB were positively correlated with total species richness and small-ranged species richness.LA and MDT were positively correlated with small-ranged species richness, while STR and SP were negatively correlated with small-ranged species richness.MDE was positively correlated with large-ranged species richness. When we considered the combination of candidate factors using multiple regression models and model-averaging,total species richness and large-ranged species richness were correlated with STR(negative) and MDE(positive),while small-ranged species richness was correlated with STR(negative) and IB(positive). Conclusions:Although no single key factor or suite of factors could explain patterns of diversity,we found that MDE,IB and STR play important but varying roles in shaping the elevational richness patterns of different bird species categories.Model-averaging indicates that small-ranged species appear to be mostly influenced by IB,as opposed to large-ranged species, which exhibit patterns more consistent with the MDE model. Our data also indicate that the species richness varied between seasons, offering a promising direction for future work.

文摘Different types of vegetation patches are alternately and randomly distributed in a timberline ecotone where the upper limit is the treeline and the lower limit is the timberline. However, most studies on timberline/treeline altitudinal distributions have simplified timberline or treeline as continuous curves and disregarded the fuzziness of timberline/treeline and the randomness of different vegetation patch distributions in a timberline ecotone. To study the altitudinal distribution characteristics of timberline and treeline from the perspective of uncertainty theory,we constructed the timberline and treeline elevation cloud models in Mt.Namjagbarwa in east Himalayas.Subsequently,we established multiple linear regression models by using nine influencing factors, namely, aspect, slope, topographic relief, dryness index, average temperature in January and July, latitude, summit syndrome(represented by the vertical distance from the peak),and snow effect(represented by the nearest distance from the snow)as independent variables, and the elevations of timberline/treeline as dependent variables. Then we compared the contributions of the nine factors in timberline, treeline, and the core and peripheral areas of timberline and treeline. The results show that 1)the timberline/treeline elevation cloud model can represent the overall characteristics(especially the uncertainty)of the altitudinal distributions of the timberline/treeline well. The uncertainty of treeline’s altitudinal distribution is higher than that of timberline(entropy and hyper entropy:207.59 m and 70.36 m for treeline elevation cloud;entropy and hyper entropy:191.17 m and 50.13 m for timberline elevation cloud).2)The influence of climate and topography on timberline and treeline are similar. The average temperature in July has a significant negative correlation with the timberline/treeline elevation in Mt.Namjagbarwa, which is the most critical factor that affects timberline and treeline elevation, explaining the altitudinal distribution of 44.01%timberline and 46.74%treeline.However,the contributions of the nine factors in core and peripheral areas of timberline and treeline area are evidently different.

文摘From 8 April to 11 October in 2005, hydrological observation of the Rongbuk Glacier catchment was carried out in the Mr. Qomolangma (Everest) region in the central Himalayas, China. The discharge induced by precipitation accounts for about 20% of the total runoff, while snow and ice melting for about 80%.
