Objective:The objective of this study was to investigate the frequency of acute and late toxicities,as well as changes in the quality of life(QOL)for breast cancer patients following radiotherapy(RT).Materials and Methods:A total of 108 breast cancer women were recruited for this prospective study.Data were collected at various intervals;prior to,and 1,3,6 months, and 1 year after radiation therapy. The primary outcomes were toxicity radiation therapy oncology group/European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer(EORTC)criteria. Our secondary outcome was QOL,measured using EORTC QLQ-C30 and Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale. We employed Friedman’s two-way analysis to evaluate the changes in QOL over the course of 1 year. Results:The early toxicities that are most commonly experienced include pharyngeal, skin, and mucous membrane toxicity.Late toxicities frequently involve skin and submucosal toxicity. To measure patient functionality, all functional subscale scores except for the patient’s emotional state increased over time compared to pre-RT.Symptoms of the patients, which were included in the QOL symptom scale, decreased during the follow-up period, except for fatigue;however, changes in pain, insomnia, and loss of appetite did not significantly change. We identified the analogous symptom profiles in Edmonton.Although patients’overall health scores declined in the 1st and 3rd months after radiotherapy(RT),they rebounded at 6 and 12 months. Conclusion:For breast cancer patients,RT did not adversely affect functional capacity or exacerbate symptoms, but persistent fatigue did increase during the observation period.Health-care professionals ought to devise strategies to assist patients with skin toxicity and fatigue. 展开更多

Excessive consumption of refined grains harms human health and ecosystem viability.Whole grains,as a healthy and sustainable alternative to refined grains, can benefit individual health by providing dietary fiber,B vitamins, and bioactive substances.Additionally, they aid in improving the environment due to their higher extraction rate and lower carbon emission during the processing stage. However, few studies have attempted to evaluate the economic and social benefits of increasing the amount of whole grain in grain intake. This paper estimates the potential savings in healthcare costs and reduced food carbon footprints(CFs)that could result from a shift toward whole grain consumption following the Chinese Dietary Guidelines(CDG).We investigate hypothetical scenarios where a certain proportion(5–100%)of Chinese adults could increase their whole grain intakes as proposed by CDG to meet the average shortfall of 30.2 g.In that case, the healthcare costs for associated diseases(e.g.,type2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),cardiovascular disease(CVD),and colorectal cancer(CRC))are expected to reduce by a substantial amount, from USD 2.82 to 56.37 billion;the carbon emission levels are also projected to decrease by0.24–5.72 million tons. This study provides compelling evidence that advocating for the transition towards greater consumption of whole grain products could benefit individual health, the environment, and society,by reducing both healthcare costs and carbon emissions. 展开更多

Broadcast gymnastics, which was initiated in 1951,is one of the most widely adopted and popular mass sports activities in China, embodying the country's commitment to shaping the right to health of its citizens. The history and development of broadcast gymnastics are closely tied to the destiny of the nation, reflecting clear national will, and aiming to achieve the goal of“shaping new individuals”.The institutional forms of broadcast gymnastics can be categorized into three stages:“military simulation”,“administrative reinforcement”and“market competition”,each of which aligns with the objectives and needs of different periods.Taking the establishment and promotion of broadcast gymnastics in China as a focal point helps construct a doctrinal framework for the right to health.Based on the purposes and means of health shaping, the implementation of the right to health can be divided into four types:national health projects, citizens'health rights, the social health industry, and civic health consumption.National health projects, facilitated by legislative mechanisms, provide institutional support and supply for citizens'health rights. The right to health,as a social right, has both a subjective rights orientation and an objective value order orientation, thus establishing the individual's subject status in terms of their right to health. Its defense aspect is oriented toward rejecting excessive state intervention, while the benefit aspect directly links to the state's payment measures. The boundaries of state power also need to be defined in the social health industry and civic health consumption.Hence, developing broadcast gymnastics involves adjusting its relationship with the overall objectives of the state and individual citizens'needs. It involves balancing the use of administrative and market methods, continually innovating sports programs that better suit diverse needs, and actively participating in the competition of the fitness market. 展开更多

The concept of common prosperity embodies the right of the people to a happy life, which is in line with General Secretary Xi Jinping’s proposition that“the people’s happiness is the greatest human right.”Its rights structure has the attributes of collective rights, reflecting the people’s pursuit of material civilization, spiritual civilization, harmony, beauty, and other social values. The realization of these rights is based on individual diligent labor and also entails human rights responsibilities of the state and society.Since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee,China has pursued the basic policy of reform and opening-up,dismantling institutional barriers that hindered the development of productivity and the full realization of rights. This has stimulated the initiative, enthusiasm, and creativity of the people in their endeavors and entrepreneurship, leading to a historic leap from standing up to becoming prosperous. The living standards of the people have greatly improved. In the new journey toward achieving the second centenary goal,China should follow the important discourse of General Secretary Xi Jinping on respecting and protecting human rights, take the path of socialist human rights with Chinese characteristics, and better meet the growing aspirations of the people for a better life in the pursuit of high-quality economic development. 展开更多

Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) has not been investigated among Iranian industrial workers. The present paper aimed to study the influence of the socio-demographic, health and work-related factors on HRQOL among Iranian industrial workers. In this cross-sectional study, participants were 280 workers of two factories. The Persian version of World Health Organization Quality of Life-Brief (WHOQOL-BREF) was used to assess the HRQOL. A questionnaire was developed to assess the socio-demographic, health and work-related factors. Results showed that the means (SD) of physical health, psychological health, social relationships, and environment domains of HRQOL were 13.2 (2.7), 13.3 (2.6), 14.2 (3.5) and 12.6 (2.5), respectively. A multiple linear regression showed that types of job, exercise activity, working schedule, sleep quality, smoking, and conflict between work and social life were significantly associated with physical health domain;whereas, working schedule, marital status, working demand, sleep quality, BMI, and conflict between work and individual life were significantly associated with psychological health domain. Working schedule, working demand, sleep quality, conflict between work and individual life, and having children over two years were significantly associated with social relationship domain;however, working demand, working schedule, smoking, sleep quality, working hour, job satisfaction, marital status and exercise activity were significantly associated with environment domain. Collectively, work-related factors including unhealthy working conditions, unsafe working environments, long working hours, irregular working schedules, and the lack of occupational training may negatively influence the HRQOL of workers. To improve workers’ HRQOL, intervention programs should focus on improving work environment, working schedule, occupational training and restricting working hours. 展开更多

Objectives: Osteoarthritis (OA) has a dramatic impact on patients’ health related quality of life (HRQoL). Chronic use of analgesics and anti-inflammatory medications for pain management may improve symptoms but on long term may affect HRQoL negatively. The objective of the present study was to compare the impact of two different classes of analgesics, traditional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and selective cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors on HRQoL among osteoarthritis patients using the SF-36 questionnaire. Methods: Clinic based cross-sectional study conducted at Al-Qassimi Hospital, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), over a period of six months. Ethical Approval was obtained from the ethics committee at Al-Qassimi Clinical Research Center. Total of 200 osteoarthritis patients fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria were involved in the study. Patients’ demographics were collected from their medical records. The Medical Outcome Study Short-Form 36 (SF-36) questionnaire was used to measure patients’ HRQoL. SF-36 data were scored using health outcomes scoring software 4.5. Results: Mean age of the subjects was 62.19 ± 9.81 years with females constituting 151 (75.5%) of the patients. In general, females scored lower in most of the HRQoL domains compared to males and there was significant difference between the two groups in the mental health (p = 0.005) & mental component (p = 0.042) domains. Compared to selective COX-2 inhibitors, patients on NSAIDs scored higher on all domains of SF-36 except physical functioning. There was significant difference in mental health domain for patients treated with NSAIDs (p = 0.02). Celecoxib was only better than NSAIDs in osteoarthritis patients with more than one musculoskeletal disorders in the domain of bodily pain (p = 0.009). Conclusion: NSAIDs-treated patients did not differ significantly from celecoxib-treated patients in all domains of the SF-36 except for the mental health domain. 展开更多

It is first argued that the prohibition of Termination of life on request confers an inalienable right to life. A fight is inalienable if it cannot legitimately be waived or transferred. Since voluntary euthanasia entails waiver of the right to life, the inalienability yields that it cannot be justified. Therefore, any ethical position that is in favor of voluntary euthanasia has to argue that the right to life is an inalienable right and accept the conclusion that killing on request is justified. 展开更多

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a leading cause of mortality. People living with COPD often have a common triad of problems including decreased health-related quality of life (HRQL), smoking, and depression. Identifying barriers to preventing and treating COPD is of the utmost importance. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between HRQL, depression, and smoking status for patients with COPD. Methods: The 2016 BRFSS data was used to perform a cross sectional analysis of adult patients with a diagnosis of COPD. A comprehensive descriptive analysis of all study variables for those participants having COPD was performed. Then relationships between general HRQL, depression, and smoking status were examined. Data were analyzed using SPSS. Results: The original 2016 BRFSS dataset contained responses from 486,303 participants. After selecting participants who self-identified as having a diagnosis of COPD, 40,682 individual participants remained in the dataset for further analysis. The participants with COPD were mostly female, over the age of 65, with low-incomes, attended a year of college or less, with some type of healthcare coverage. Patients with a dual diagnosis of COPD and depression have poorer HRQL and an increased number of cigarettes smoked compared to those patients with COPD. Likewise, there is a significant relationship between HRQL and smoking status for patients with a dual diagnosis of COPD and depression. Conclusion: Depression as a comorbidity does have a statistically significant relationship with patients HRQL and smoking status. Future research should be aimed at increasing screening and treatment for depression in patients with COPD who continue to smoke. Further research on the cyclical relationship between COPD, depression, and smoking cessation would be beneficial. 展开更多

Objective:Reproductive health(RH)rights are the rights of all persons, regardless of age, sex,or other traits, and they have the freedom to make decisions about their sexuality and RH.However, there is limited information about Ethiopians’understanding of RH rights.Because little is known about the degree of knowledge and relevant predictors in the study area, this study was carried out to fill in the gaps. Methods:An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted from 3 January to 25 January 2021 G.C to determine the knowledge level of RH rights and its associated factors among Wolkite University undergraduate medical students. The minimum estimated sample size was computed by using the simple population proportion formula of 95%confidence interval(CI),with 5%of marginal error, which was 318 students. The students were stratified based on their academic year and department. Each student was selected from each department by using the simple random sampling method based on their ID numbers.Data were collected by using a pre-tested,structured self-administered questionnaire.Epi Info version 3.5.1 was used for data coding, entering, and cleaning, and then the data were expor ted to Statistical Package for Social Sciences(SPSS)version 23 for advanced analysis. The associated factors were identified by performing analysis for bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results:More than half(56.33%)of the par ticipants were knowledgeable about reproductive and sexual rights and par ticipated in RH clubs(adjusted odds ratio[AOR]:2.94,95%CI:1.46,5.91).The paternal educational level(AOR:2.89,95%CI:1.34,5.65)had an association with the knowledge of reproductive health rights. Conclusions:The students’knowledge regarding reproductive and sexual rights was found to be little. The Ethiopia Ministry of Education has to include reproductive and sexual rights in the curriculum of high school and higher institution studies. 展开更多

The aim of this study was to evaluate whether partial removable denture use indeed leads to improved oral health related quality of life and masticatory function. Materials and Methods: Partially edentulous patients presenting for removable denture treatment at the Prosthodontics Service in the Hospital Affiliated to Kinshasa University (Democratic Republic of Congo) were assessed for enrolment in this study. After applying exclusion criteria, 378 patients were included in the study, and randomly assigned into 2 groups. Oral health related quality of life (OHIP-23) and mastication time (MaT), number of chewing cycles (MaC), mastication frequency (MaF), and the sizes of the peanut fragments (FraS) were compared in both groups. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: The average MaC, MaT, MaF, and FraS were 119 (± SD 53.70), 86.75 (±SD 35.35), 1.38 (±SD 0.25), and 3.3 (±SD 3.25) for the denture group and 77.9 (±SD 23.9), 60.2 (±SD 17.91), 1.29 (±SD 0.15), and 1.5 (±SD 0.7) for the non-denture group, respectively. Conclusion: The overall oral health related quality of life was best in the non-denture than denture. 展开更多

Conceptually, health is subjective, procedural and socially reliant. This three-fold nature determines the connotations of the right to health as well as the constraints thereof. The right to health encompasses both the right to freedom and social rights. The right to freedom in the context of health means that the state should respect the health status and choices of its citizens and trust that the people are able to optimize their health through their own efforts, whereas the right to basic healthcare services is an important component of the right to health from the perspective of social rights. The review system stipulated in administrative normative documents increases,to a certain degree, the possibility that citizens can realize their right to health. The right to health is constrained in three aspects:"precondition of the possible",concurrent requirements imposed by society and conflicts among basic rights. When there is financial restraint on what the state can afford, the right to health is constrained by limits to healthcare institutions and the provision of healthcare services.over-emphasis of individual responsibility on the part of the insured can possibly transform the right to health into an obligation to be healthy. 展开更多
