The White Horse Temple, as a site constructed by discourses has transformed from‘the first government-funded temple in China'to one of the symbols of China-India friendship in the cultural exchange between the two nations. Critical discourse analysis(CDA) is an interdisciplinary approach to the study of discourse that views language as a form of social practice and focuses on the ways social and political domination are reproduced in text and talk. This paper, starts from the perspective of critical discourse analysis, is exploratory in that it aims to see how the discursive practice of the White Horse Temple constitutes the discourse of China-India relationship and is constituted by the power relationship between the two nations.展开更多
The distribution of mercury, an environmentally important toxicant, has been evaluated in a time dependent manner in different tissues of white rat and a freshwater teleost, Anabas testudineus. Sampling was performed ...The distribution of mercury, an environmentally important toxicant, has been evaluated in a time dependent manner in different tissues of white rat and a freshwater teleost, Anabas testudineus. Sampling was performed at 15 min, 2, 6 and 48 h post injection (im) of 203Hg mercuric nitrate. Radioactivity of the 5% tissue homogenate, serum and bile was measured in a Gamma Counter. The rate of 203Hg accumulation is higher in fish immediately after administration which, however, is more or less of equal rate in the later period of observation in both the experimental animals. Partitioning of 203Hg occurs in a species specific manner with higher levels recorded in the brain and gonad of white rat. Spleen, liver and kidney, however, are the major tissues to accumulate mercury in both the species. The present study highlights that kidney is the target site of mercury retention with a higher kidney/liver ratio of mercury.展开更多

The brick and stone structure is 50.9 meters high, comprising a separate foundation, body and dagoba top. At the join between the foundation and body are 24 protruding lotus petals forming a lotus throne, on which are five Diamond Loops making it possible for the foundation to extend into the dagoba body. The dagoba top has a small sumeru seat on which are 13 horizontal circles representing the 13 worlds. The top is crowned with a bronze sub-top with a wooden lining 9.87 meters thick, from which hang 36 bronze segments inscribed with the Chinese Character meaning Buddha, and statues of Buddha, as well as a bell.展开更多
Purpose:What factors influence conscious consumerism,especially related to race and gender identities?This scholarship explores three white women-led social responsibility organizations’(SROs)aspirations to encourage...Purpose:What factors influence conscious consumerism,especially related to race and gender identities?This scholarship explores three white women-led social responsibility organizations’(SROs)aspirations to encourage conscious consumerism as well as factors that influence conscious consumerism.Design/methodology/approach:Using the Black feminist thought and sustainability development theory,the data were analyzed using a thematic analysis to explore the activation of the white savior industrial complex(WSIC)in SROs.Interviews provided in-depth knowledge of the SRO culture including,but not limited to,insight on social exclusion and partnerships.Findings:Noonday Collection,Sseko Designs,and Trades of Hope,all SROs,aspire to be dedicated to people,planet,and profit and encourage conscious consumerism as a means for their customer base and sales consultants to“do their part”,and yet,an unintended consequence of the SROs’work is social exclusion and white saviorism.Originality:This scholarship investigates what can be done to dismantle the overreliance of conscious consumerism in an effort to finally strip white saviorism,and its role in the white savior industrial complex(WSIC),of its power.展开更多

Without the complex calibration process of the fiber asymmetry parameter, the new method reduces the effect of chromatic dispersion and improves the synchronization accuracy. The experiment achieves timing synchronization accuracy below 200 ps over 50 km fiber constructed by different companies＇ fiber spools. The proposed method would make White Rabbit technology immune to the chromatic dispersion of fiber links and can be applied to long distance synchronization.展开更多
