Referring to the questionnaire survey and literature materials, this paper describes the current situation of college students' insufficient autonomous English learning ability and thefactors that influence this ability; it also suggests feasible suggestions under the network environment. Students (N= 178) from different grades, majors, universities and areas responded to a questionnaire survey, and the collected data were analyzed. The results indicate that complex external environment and insufficient internal subject cognition influence college students' autonomous English learning ability. Finally, this paper suggests that a good network environment is necessary for autonomous learners to enhance insufficient autonomous English learning ability and interaction, continuous thinking and cultural introduction are also indispensable to develop this ability. 展开更多

This paper analyzes the problems faced by College English Teaching in ethnic minority areas, arguing that it is imperative to cultivate autonomous learning ability of College English in ethnic minority areas. In the current society, based on the growing development of network information technology, the teaching in many colleges and universities has also introduced it to adapt to the situation. This trend can provide more useful conditions for students to learn, which requires students to master enough self-learning abilities to adapt to this model. The study in the paper shows that students are usually interested in autonomous learning in a multimodal environment, but the degree of strategy choice is relatively low, and the learning process is blind and passive with the lack of self-confidence. Facing the future, schools should actively integrate into network thinking, and teachers should change their roles and train and guide students’ learning strategies and learning motivations, so as to achieve better teaching results. 展开更多

In this era of information explosion, reading has become one of the most important basic skills to obtain the information. With the globalization of information and business, people pay more and more attention to English reading. English reading, as one of the four skills of language learning, plays an important role in the English learning. In a sense, English reading, together with listening comprehension, speaking, and writing, is an important skill and holds a crucial status in learning the English language. Cooperative learning is a kind of teaching theory and strategy system based on group. The theory of cooperative learning which is applied in English reading class in senior high school and change the traditional teacher- centered teaching type. Cooperative learning as a breakthrough and complement against traditional classroom instruction is an efficient teaching approach, which can promote learner's cognitive ability and improve their competence to use language. This paper discusses how to apply the above mentioned theory to the learning practices in order to achieve better English reading and improve the reading achievement in college schools. 展开更多

The previous studies have shown that cooperative learning is a good method of learning. However, very few Chinese English teachers have really or commonly tried to apply the theory of cooperative learning in English reading class. On the basis of reading some related literatures, the author combine his teaching experience and the reality of the teaching subjects to put forward the following questions:l) Whether cooperative learning helps improve students' reading achievements? 2) Whether cooperative learning can inspire students' motivation in learning English? 3) Whether cooperative learning can improve students' English reading ability? The results of the study show that cooperative learning used in the English reading class can not only stimulate students' learning interests, boost the students' motivation, but also raise their English language proficiency and reading ability. 展开更多

本文采用行动研究的方法,以武汉职业技术学院的英语听说过级自主学习课程为例,探讨如何在自主学习课程中应用PBL的教学模式改进自主学习课程的考核方式,提高学生的自主学习能力和意识。文章首先分析了自主学习课程在实施过程中遇到的问... 本文采用行动研究的方法,以武汉职业技术学院的英语听说过级自主学习课程为例,探讨如何在自主学习课程中应用PBL的教学模式改进自主学习课程的考核方式,提高学生的自主学习能力和意识。文章首先分析了自主学习课程在实施过程中遇到的问题,详细描述了PBL教学模式的总体设计构想和具体的实施步骤,并对实施的结果进行了讨论。经过统计和问卷调查结果发现,应用PBL模式后,实验班的学生的学习兴趣有了很大的提高,有利于培养他们的自主学习能力和合作精神。同时,试验前后的听力测试表明,实验班听力成绩较对照班也有了显著的提高。可见,PBL模式的应用能在一定程度上改进目前在自主学习课程中所遇到的一些问题。 展开更多

This study aims to explore the relationship among autonomous learning ability,learning burnout and English grades by structural equation modeling.The survey of 481 non-English majors showed that autonomous learning ability,learning burnout and English grades correlated significantly with each other,and the structural equation model of the three variables was stable.This suggests that the stronger the autonomous learning ability,the lower the level of learning burnout,the higher the English grades.This empirical study shows that the autonomous learning ability of non-English majors can influence the level of learning burnout,which in turn influences English grades.Learning burnout can mediate the effects of autonomous learning ability on English grades. 展开更多
