AIM:To compare and analyse the diagnostic efficacy of the College of Optometrists Vision Development Quality of Life Questionnaire(COVD-QOL)and the Convergence Insufficiency Symptom Survey(CISS)in detecting convergence insufficiency and to compare their diagnostic value in clinical applications.METHODS:Using the diagnostic test method,62 adult patients with convergence insufficiency(age:24.74±3.75y)and 62 normal participants(age:23.61±3.13y)who visited the Optometry Clinic of West China Hospital of Sichuan University from April 2021 to January 2023 were included.All subjects completed the CISS and COVD-QOL.Statistical analysis of the sensitivity and specificity of the CISS and COVD-QOL and comparison and joint experimental analysis of their diagnostic efficacy were performed.RESULTS:The sensitivity of the CISS and COVD-QOL for convergence insufficiency was 64.5%and 71.0%,respectively,while the specificity was 96.8%and 67.7%,respectively.Compared to the CISS alone,the combination of the CISS and COVD-QOL demonstrated lower sensitivity and specificity.The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve of CISS,COVD-QOL and CISS combined with COVD-QOL were 0.806,0.694 and 0.782,respectively.CONCLUSION:Considering the low sensitivity of the CISS and the low specificity of the COVD-QOL,it is recommended to supplement these questionnaires with other screening tests for the detection of convergence insufficiency. 展开更多

Quantitative analysis and prediction of the sound field convergence zone in mesoscale eddy environment based on data mining methods

The mesoscale eddy(ME)has a significant influence on the convergence effect in deep-sea acoustic propagation.This paper use statistical approaches to express quantitative relationships between the ME conditions and convergence zone(CZ)characteristics.Based on the Gaussian vortex model,we construct various sound propagation scenarios under different eddy conditions,and carry out sound propagation experiments to obtain simulation samples.With a large number of samples,we first adopt the unified regression to set up analytic relationships between eddy conditions and CZ parameters.The sensitivity of eddy indicators to the CZ is quantitatively analyzed.Then,we adopt the machine learning(ML)algorithms to establish prediction models of CZ parameters by exploring the nonlinear relationships between multiple ME indicators and CZ parameters.Through the research,we can express the influence of ME on the CZ quantitatively,and achieve the rapid prediction of CZ parameters in ocean eddies.The prediction accuracy(R)of the CZ distance(mean R:0.9815)is obviously better than that of the CZ width(mean R:0.8728).Among the three ML algorithms,Gradient Boosting Decision Tree has the best prediction ability(root mean square error(RMSE):0.136),followed by Random Forest(RMSE:0.441)and Extreme Learning Machine(RMSE:0.518). 展开更多

Exploring the Dynamics of Industrial Convergence Among RCEP Member Countries: An Empirical Study

The evolving dynamics of industrial convergence among the member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP)framework have emerged as a significant subject that merits in-depth consideration and analysis.This study initially employs multi-regional input-output(MRIO)data and the social network analysis(SNA)method to delineate the levels and variation trends of this industrial convergence across the RCEP member countries.It then delves into the positive effects of this convergence phenomenon on the trade and investment fields of the member countries.The research findings indicate:(a)In 2006 and 2015,before the implementation of the RCEP,the RCEP member countries displayed a relatively close industrial convergence.The convergence levels exhibited a general upward trend on both the supply and the demand sides,but there were significant disparities in the levels of industrial convergence among the member countries.Furthermore,while the convergence in the three economic sectors showed an increasing trend,the development was uneven across the board.(b)Since the implementation of the RCEP,the trade ties among the member countries within the region have strengthened significantly,and the interplay between the countries’industrial and supply chains has been characterized by high-quality collaboration and demonstrated remarkable resilience.In addition,the convergence in the investment fields of the RCEP member countries and their respective industries has unleashed a wave of positive synergies.These findings offer valuable insights that can serve as a robust foundation for formulating effective policies to advance the growth and prosperity of the RCEP region. 展开更多

Using the adoption and expansion of wired telegraph in China during the late 19^(th) century,this paper investigates the effect of cost reductions for knowledge exchange on China’s industrial growth before the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression(1931-1945),thus testing Baldwin’s theory of“the Great Convergence”in which developing countries are empowered by information and communication technologies.Based on panel data of 1858-1937,we found that wired telegraph access had a significantly positive effect,as well as a long-term growth effect,on the entry of industrial enterprises.Our mechanism analysis indicates that wired telegraph access accelerated early-stage industrialization in localities by encouraging market integration,human capital accumulation,and auxiliary commercial organizations.Only a few countries firmly asserted their telegraph sovereignty and set up their own workforce educational system during telegraph adoption.This explains why the Great Convergence arising from technology importation only occurred in a small number of countries.Our findings contribute to understanding the source of China’s modern industrial progress,as well as why global inequities remain. 展开更多

The occurrence ofpremature convergence is forecasted using colony entropy and colony variance. When prematureconvergence occurs, new individuals are generated in proper scale randomly based on superiorindividuals in the colony. We use these new individuals to replace some individuals in the oldcolony. The updated individuals account for 30 percent - 40 percent of all individuals and the sizeof scale is related to the distribution of the extreme value of the target function. Features of agritourism emerging in the development of modern agriculture were analyzed, it was stressed that industrial convergence was a basic feature of modern agriculture, and modern agriculture was the integration of agriculture, science and technology, integration of agriculture, industry and trade, and integration of rural and urban areas. Agritourism was believed as the optimal carrier of expanding functions of modern agriculture combining agriculture, ecology and tourism industry. From such perspectives, causes for the loss of tourist functions in the development of agricultural demonstration zone were identified as 5 aspects, specifically including various planners from diverse fields; no any technical standard for the planning, or systematic planning theory and technique; many individual planning cases with poor applicability; no innovative idea brought into the tourism project planning; the loss of cultures in new tourist products. After proposing key points in the expansion planning of tourist functions, this research pointed out 4 countermeasures, i.e. (1) design concepts should be changed; (2) planning functions should be reoriented to match service facility planning with laws of tourism development and properly design tourist projects; (3) landscaping planning should be focused on; and (4) eco-environment protection and brand building should be enhanced. 展开更多

As a main difficult problem encountered in electrochemical machining (ECM), the cathode design is tackled, at present, with various numerical analysis methods such as finite difference, finite element and boundary element methods. Among them, the finite element method presents more flexibility to deal with the irregularly shaped workpieces. However, it is very difficult to ensure the convergence of finite element numerical approach. This paper proposes an accurate model and a finite element numerical approach of cathode design based on the potential distribution in inter-electrode gap. In order to ensure the convergence of finite element numerical approach and increase the accuracy in cathode design, the cathode shape should be iterated to eliminate the design errors in computational process. Several experiments are conducted to verify the machining accuracy of the designed cathode. The experimental results have proven perfect convergence and good computing accuracy of the proposed finite element numerical approach by the high surface quality and dimensional accuracy of the machined blades. 展开更多

Seismological evidence for the convergence of crustal stress orientation before large earthquakes 被引量:10

Earthquakes are caused by the failure of faults, driven by tectonic stress build-up in the Earth's crust. To study the earthquake preparation process and assess regional earthquake potentials, it is vitally important to understand the crustal stress evolution process and identify its change in pattern associated with the seismogenic process. In this study we investigate the focal mechanism orientations of earthquakes in southern California from 1982 to 1999, basing on a focal mechanism catalog from Hauksson. We find that for the two large earthquakes occurred in southern California, the 1992 Mw7.3 Landers and the 1999 Mw7.1 Hector Mine, the orientations of focal mechanisms near the coming earthquake tend to converge to the stress direction promoting the rupture of the coming earthquake and align with its focal mechanism about half-year before its occurrence, suggesting that the tectonic stress field gets more organized in favor of the rupture of the event pre-seismically. The degree of stress convergence is measured by the orientation angle RMS (root mean square) between the preshocks' focal mechanisms and the focal mechanism of the large event studied, and its time series recorded the stress convergence process. The degree of anomalies, measured by the F-tests, indicates that the convergence of stress orientations become significant at 90% confidence about half-year prior to both the Landers and Hector Mine quakes, and it becomes even more prominent at 99% confidence right before the occurrences. Our study may be of significance for assessment of regional seismic potentials. 展开更多

The initiation of convective cells in the late morning of 24 June 2010 along the eastward extending ridge of the Dabie Mountains in the Anhui region, China, is studied through numerical simulations that include local data assimilation. A primary convergence line is found over the ridge of the Dabie Mountains, and along the ridge line several locally enhanced convergence centers preferentially initiate convection. Three processes responsible for creating the overall convergence pattern are identified. First, thermally-driven upslope winds induce convergence zones over the main mountain peaks along the ridge, which are shifted slightly downwind in location by the moderate low-level easterly flow found on the north side of a Mei-yu front. Second, flows around the main mountain peaks along the ridge create further convergence on the lee side of the peaks. Third, upslope winds develop along the roughly north-south oriented valleys on both sides of the ridge due to thermal and dynamic channeling effects, and create additional convergence between the peaks along the ridge. The superposition of the above convergence features creates the primary convergence line along the ridge line of the Dabie Mountains. Locally enhanced convergence centers on the primary line cause the initiation of the first convection cells along the ridge. These conclusions are supported by two sensitivity experiments in which the environmental wind (dynamic forcing) or radiative and land surface thermal forcing are removed, respectively. Overall, the thermal forcing effects are stronger than dynamic forcing given the relatively weak environmental flow. 展开更多

Hard coal mines are required to constantly ventilate mine workings to ensure that the air composition is at a certain humidity and temperature level that is comfortable for underground mine workers,especially in deep deposits.All underground workings,which are part of the mine ventilation network,should be ventilated in a way that allows maintaining proper oxygen concentration not lower than 19%(by volume),and limits concentration of gases in the air such as methane,carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide.The air flow in the mine ventilation network may be disturbed due to the natural convergence(deformation)and lead to change in its original cross-section.Reducing the cross-sectional area of the mining excavation causes local resistances in the air flow and changes in aerodynamic potentials,which leads to emergency states in the mine ventilation network.This paper presents the results of numerical simulations of the influence of gateroad convergence on the ventilation process of a selected part of the mine ventilation network.The gateroad convergence was modelled with the finite element software PHASE 2.The influence of changes in the cross-sectional area of the gateroad on the ventilation process was carried out using the computational fluid dynamics software Ansys-Fluent. 展开更多
