C. S. ) and its adjacent waters and discusses the effects of the Kuroshio front, thermocline and upwelling of the Kuroshio subsurface water on the distribution of standing stock of phytoplankton (chlorophyll-a). The distribution of high content of chlorophylly-a has been detected at 20-50 in depth in the water body on the left side of the Kuroshio front in the continental shelf edge waters of the E. C. S. The high content of chlorophyll-a spreads from the shelf area to the Kuroshio area in the form of a tongue and connects with the maximum layer of subsurface chlorophyll-a of the Kuroshio and pelagic sea. The author considers that the formation of the distribution of high content chlorophyll-a in this area results from the bottom topography and oceanic environment and there are close correlations between the high content of chlorophyll-a and the light-nutrient environment.展开更多

The authors made use of computer techniques to simulatenumerically the zoning of these ore deposits. The study shows that the regular spatial zoning probably resultedfrom the succession of multiple, intermittent and pulsatory mineralizations, The successive transports with di-verse velocities along channelways of the ore-forming solutions, taking place under conditions of definite dif-ference between metal concentrations, in solutions and wallrocks, followed by differential deposition, consti-tute possible dynamic mechanisms for the primary metal zoning.展开更多

Results showed a high incidence of hepatic metastasis could be obtained through the intrasplenic inoculation of 1 × 106 carcinoma cells. Removal of the primary carcinoma through splenec-tomy at different intervals after intrasplenic inoculation proved that the hepatic metastatic mechanism was not due to mechanical pressure but occurred spontaneously. This experimental model provides a useful means for studying the mechanism and prevention of hepatic metastasis.展开更多

The various stages of forced alloying by ball milling, leading to instability of elemental crystalline phases and formation of quasicrystalline phases were monitored using X-ray diffraction. Diffusion of Fe into the Cu matrix is proposed as the cause which triggers the instability of crystalline phases and leads to the formation of quasicrystalline phases after 10 h of milling. Milling for 100 h resulted in two different quasicrystalline phases with different lattice constants. Role of the nanocrystalline microstructure as an important criterion for the destabilisation of crystalline phases is explained. It is suggested that the formation of nanocrystalline microstructure and their subsequent transformation into quasicrystalline phases may be associated with a continuous increase in the disclination content of the system, which had formed as a result of continued milling and mechanical deformation.展开更多
