In this report we present evidence linking nuclear phos- phoinositides cycle with endoplasmic reticulum synthesis and function. The rapid transformation of [3H]inositol-labeled phosphoinositides in the intact nuclei (IN) was captured in chase studies for 0-5 min, followed by examination of phosphatidylinositides in the inner nuclear me- mbrane (INM), the outer nuclear membrane (ONM) and endoplasmic reticulum (ER). We revealed that synthesis of phosphatidylinositol phosphates (PIPs) occurs in ONM and the de- phosphorylation takes place in the INM. The rapid transformation of the radiolabeled PIPs in ONM reverberated in their appearance and successive transformation in INM, and in the 5min chased nuclei was tracked to ONM as the re- emerging radiolabeled phosphatidylinositol (PI). These chase-uncovered changes in ONM and INM PIPs profiles allow us to conclude that the observed conversions in the nuclear membrane continuum are induced by the lateral movement of the membrane and its transit from the cytosolic to nuclear and back to cytosolic environment. The suggested membrane synthesisinduced movement provides the means to transport the membrane- and the membrane lipid ligand-associated cytosolic proteins to the intranuclear spaces and renewal of INM. Export of the nuclear components interacting with the modified INM, by exiting from nuclear to cytosolic site, endows ER with a steady influx of the membrane that is conditioned to generate vesicles according to the nucleus delivered templates.展开更多

In this method, by dividing large deformation of the part into inner and outer pressure forming deformations, the limit deformation of tube part can be increased by several times. Meanwhile, the principle of viscous inner and outer pressure forming was provided, and key problems during the forming process such as reduction of the wall-thickness and instability wrinkling were analyzed. Thereby, the complex curved surface super-alloy GH3044 thin-walled tube with varying diameter ratio of 1.35(the ratio between the maximum and minimum diameters of the part) can be integrally formed by this method. The experimental surface of the formed part is superior in quality and the wall-thickness distribution is uniform. The results show that the viscous inner and outer pressure forming can provide a new approach for integral forming of thin-walled tubes with complex shapes.展开更多

This, now discredited two dimensional theory, was put to rest by the observation that a person deaf in one ear can locate sounds in three dimensional space. We present here a new theory of sound localization that has the re-quired three dimensional measurement. It is a theory that interprets the well researched biological structure of the mammalian cochlea in a new and logical way, which leads to a deeper understanding of how sound localization functions.展开更多

In this study, we investigated TGFβ1 expression in the outer meniscus, inner meniscus and articular cartilage of rabbit and human knee tissue (outer and inner menisci) in order to determine the potential role of this factor in normal meniscal function. We also examined the potential of TGF-β1 stimulation to promote tissue regeneration in the two different regions of rabbit knee meniscus tissue. Immunohistochemical investigations of TGF-β1 were performed on rabbit and human knee tissue. The rabbit outer, inner and articular cartilage cells were culture and stimulated with TGF-β1 followed by cell proliferation assay and extracellular matrix analysis. Regulatory studies were performed using TGF-β1 inhibitors SB-431542 and PD98059. Gene expression was analyzed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. We found marked regional variation in the expression of TGF-β1 in rabbit and human knee. TGF-β1 expressions are relatively greater in the outer meniscus than inner meniscus. Furthermore, we found that exogenous TGF-β1 stimulation increased cell proliferation and aggrecan synthesis more so in the outer than in the inner meniscus. Articular cartilage tissue shows moderate levels of cell proliferation and ECM synthesis when compared with outer and inner meniscus. These findings suggest that growth factors used to enhance the repair and regeneration of meniscal tissue should be tailored to enhance region-specific variation in cell proliferation and extracellular matrix synthesis.展开更多

The predominant thrust of the study has been placed on the objective of predicting the possibilities of separation at the steel-concrete interface zones adjacent to the embedded plates (EPs) of the SG openings. Two types of modeling and analysis have been made to study the overall and local behaviour of the structure. Prestressing ducts, passive reinforcements and EPs have been included in the models in certain ways. For the FE analysis, the interface zone has been modeled using interface elements, the properties of which were derived from the results of past experiments conducted on steel plate-concrete inter-face specimens. The FE analysis results have been compared with the results of the past two FE analytical studies on the linear behaviour of the same PSC IC dome. Important observations have been made regarding dome deformation and stresses throughout the structure with special emphasis on the local behaviour of steel-concrete interfaces at and around the SG openings.展开更多

Monoecious fig species and their pollinating wasps are in conflict over the use of fig ovaries which can either produce one seed or one wasp. From observation on Ficus virens Ait., we showed that female flowers with outer layer of ovaries (near to the wall of syconium) had no significant difference from that with inner and interval layer of ovaries (near to the syconium cavity), in which most seeds and wasps were produced. This meant that fig tree provided the same potential resource for seed and wasps production. Observation indicated that there was usually only one foundress in syconium at female flower phase and no com- petition pollinators. Measurement of the style length of female flowers and the ovipositor of pollinators indicated that most ovaries could be reached by pollinator’s ovipositor. However, at the male flower phase, production of seeds was significantly more than that of wasps including non-pollinating wasps but there was no significant difference between seed and pollinating wasp production when without non-pollinating wasps produced. This result indicated that non-pollinating wasps competed ovaries not with seeds but with pollinating wasps for ovipositing. Bagged experiment showed that the sampling fig species was not self-sterile which was important for figs and wasps to survive bad season. Seed production in self-pollinated figs was not significantly different from total wasps in- cluding non-pollinating ones. This might be related with the weaker competition among wasps since bagged figs were not easy to reach by wasps from outside.展开更多

Two distinct spectral peaks in the spanwise spectra are observed in low-Reynolds-number wall-bounded turbulence. The spectra are calculated from direct numerical simulation (DNS) of turbulent channel flows and zero-pressure-gradient boundary layer flows. These two peaks locate in the nearwall and outer regions and are referred to as the inner peak and the outer peak, respectively. This result implies that the streamwise velocity fluctuations can be separated into large and small scales in the spanwise direction even though the friction Reynolds number Rer can be as low as 1000. The properties of the inner and outer peaks in the spanwise spec- tra are analyzed. The locations of the inner peak are invariant over a range of Reynolds numbers. However, the locations of the outer peak are associated with the Reynolds number, which are much higher than those of the outer peak of the pre-multiplied streamwise energy spectra of the streamwise velocity.展开更多

The results showed the protective ability of corrosion product layer formed on weathering steel in the initial stage. The SEM-EDX analysis detected the presence of chromium and copper in the inner layers of corrosion product formed on weathering steel. These elements improved corrosion resistance of corrosion product layers. In addition, the dense α-FeOOH phase were appeared early in corrosion product which is detected by X-ray diffraction and Micro Raman investigations. The results of polarization and EIS measurements also demonstrated the protectiveness of the corrosion product of weathering steel.展开更多

文摘A novel forming method of nickel based super-alloy thin-walled part with variable diameter sections was proposed by using inner and outer pressure with the visco-elasto-plastic pressure-carrying medium at room temperature, and the principle of the method was provided.Experiments and FE simulations were carried out to analyze the deformation characteristics for the part with larger variable diameter ratio(35%).The results show that visco-elasto-plastic pressure-carrying medium can meet the requirements of the room-temperature deformation condition for nickel based super-alloy sheet. The inner and outer pressure forming with the visco-elasto-plastic pressure-carrying medium can meet the requirements of dimensional accuracy for the thin-walled part with variable diameter sections. The thinning of wall-thickness is less than 4%.This method provides a new approach for near-net shape forming of nickel based super-alloy thin-walled parts with variable diameter sections.
文摘Sensing the direction of origin of a sound in space has long been attributed to the delay between arrival times between the two ears. This, now discredited two dimensional theory, was put to rest by the observation that a person deaf in one ear can locate sounds in three dimensional space. We present here a new theory of sound localization that has the re-quired three dimensional measurement. It is a theory that interprets the well researched biological structure of the mammalian cochlea in a new and logical way, which leads to a deeper understanding of how sound localization functions.
文摘The knee joint is the largest and most complex joint in the human body. These findings suggest that growth factors used to enhance the repair and regeneration of meniscal tissue should be tailored to enhance region-specific variation in cell proliferation and extracellular matrix synthesis.

文摘A linear three dimensional finite element (FE) study has been carried out to examine the structural response of a prestressed concrete (PSC) inner containment (IC) dome of reactor building (double containment system) of a typical Indian Nuclear Power Plant, having large steam generator (SG) openings with due emphasis on the local behaviour of the steel-concrete interfaces at the SG openings, due to initial prestress transfer. Important observations have been made regarding dome deformation and stresses throughout the structure with special emphasis on the local behaviour of steel-concrete interfaces at and around the SG openings.
文摘All human beings are born from divine mercy drawing man out of unfathomable reality’s chaotic depth into the divine realm’s peaceable light. The modern sense of justice,of fair government, depends on the teachings of Jesus to which all citizens must subscribe. This is not a mere ecclesiastic doctrine but an empirically proven fact. The imperfections of a finite albeit adaptable, very large computing system, which our brain appears to be,require us to be open to the infinite beyond, its recondite wisdom, for divinity to grant us a moral life&to come to our help.Jesus puts the individual human being center stage for the first time in history. The story of abounding divine mercy:Every day we humans struggle with the difficult moral law but Jesus taught us what matters most is our soul,St.Paul’s inner man,a biological function of our left brain.Relying upon the faith of the apostles, the Council of Chalcedon(AD 451)in its Confession affirmed that Jesus was an actual person in his substance, possessing two natures, human&divine. This widely has been interpreted to apply to all mankind, the soul of each human being, the inner man,is potentially divine.Forming a practical metaphysics for devout christians&skeptics:Metaphysics is needed for the purpose of undergirding faith.Origins of humanity in the deep structures of reality:Science appears to be opposite to our human spiritual existence&requires us to search for ourselves in the realm of the logos, that can serve as our guide, being one of the names of the Christ.Jesus was deeply influenced by the gifts of the Magi, brought to him from an Armenian revival during his age, source of charismatic theology, basic concepts&historical architecture.Survival by faith in the everyday human communal world:We must have a secure grasp of the Faith, its basics, memorized or divine help won’t come.Be a lifelong winner based upon your own inner man:The essential help from divinity,in our need,is granting us a moral life.Become a lifelong winner based upon your own inner man or woman. What it takes is a willing heart,a sudden inspiration.Version 1.Piety:To be aware of our marginal competence, nobody is born as a genetic loser.Version 2.Humility:To be ready for divine help, able to receive it,we need to take a step back.Version 3.Metanoia,the Ninety Degree Turn:Repentance, betterment is the beginning of faith for all of us.Miracles can&do happen, the down-&-out guide to happiness:Constant prayer is the effective remedy for a soul that has gone lost in the temptations of the human tribal world.

文摘Figs (Moracea: Ficus) and fig wasps (Hymenoptera: Chlocloids: Agaonideae) depend on each other to complete their reproduction. This might be related with the weaker competition among wasps since bagged figs were not easy to reach by wasps from outside.

文摘The pre-multiplied spanwise energy spectra of streamwise velocity fluctuations are investigated in this paper. However, the locations of the outer peak are associated with the Reynolds number, which are much higher than those of the outer peak of the pre-multiplied streamwise energy spectra of the streamwise velocity.
文摘The weathering steel (Corten B) was exposed to out-door atmosphere of Hanoi (urban site) and Donghoi (marine site). The results of polarization and EIS measurements also demonstrated the protectiveness of the corrosion product of weathering steel.
