The Formation of Ideal Interactions Between Teachers and Students in the College English Teaching

Ideal interactions between teachers and students are indispensible for the improvement of the College English teaching.Therefore,this paper tries to find out some effective measures to establish ideal interactions between teachers and students in College English teaching based on the analysis of the status-quo of the interactions between teachers and students and the emphasis of the necessity of ideal interactions between teachers and students,hoping it can be beneficial to promoting the College English teaching.

Sociocultural Theory on Interaction between Teachers and Learners in a Second Language Classroom

This article offers an overview of theoretical ideas and recent empirical research by referring to the interactive communication between teachers and learners in a second language classroom.Both the interaction of teacher-centered classroom and learner-centered classroom are reviewed within the context of sociocultural theory.The paper attempts to indicate the better effect of language learning can be achieved by complementing one another in the classroom of teacher-centeredness and learner-centeredness.

The Relationship Between Teachers' Questions and Classroom Interactions in EFL Classroom

Classroom questioning is one of the most important parts of teaching activities, and also the most frequently used method to carry on classroom interactions between teachers and students. English teaching process is the process of"asking"and"answering"between teachers and students. Teachers should not only pay attention to the artistry of questioning, but also attach great importance to the strategy of asking questions. Appropriate teachers' questions are conducive to cultivate students' divergent thinking, and encourage students to better master knowledge by thinking and discussing, thus contributing to classroom interactions move towards a climax.

The Relationship between Smartphone Addiction and Interaction Anxiousness among College Students in Sweden

The development of mobile phone has brought great convenience to people＇s daily life, smart phone with various applications has improved the quality of life of people, but also change the people＇s behavior. As a major group of using smart phones, college students have also experienced situations in which the use of mobile phones has decreased the efficiency of learning and escaped from academic pressure. This is a quantitative research for college student in Halmstad that aims at exploring the relevance between smartphone addiction and interaction anxiousness. The sample of 123 college students using smartphone was collected and using incidental sampling method with the use of college students＇ smartphone addiction scale and interaction anxiousness scale as questionnaires to collect data. The analysis of descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, independent-sample t-test, and regression et al. was used on SPSS 23. According to the results, The smartphone addiction is not common among Swedish college students. The overall status of college students＇ interaction anxiousness is close to a moderate level. Interaction anxiousness has significant differences in gender, subject and grade. There is a significant positive correlation between smartphone addiction and interaction anxiousness. Interaction anxiousness has a certain predictive effect on smartphone addiction.

Teachers’Perception for Evaluation of the Primary School Students With Final Grade

The most difficult and delicate part of the learning process is assessment.Assessment is difficult because during his/her accomplishment the teacher has to consider not only the acquisition of knowledge from students,but also the overall degree of development of their competencies.It is delicate,because through assessment we can influence the emotional side of students and their“willingness”to learn.Despite these facts,teachers need to evaluate students during the learning process.The purpose of the research is to find out what is the perception of teachers about the level of evaluation of students with final grade.The overall results showed that 89%of teachers agree,9%of them have a neutral attitude,and 2%do not agree that the evaluation of students with a final grade is done taking into account many aspects and using many methods,the overall average of the results,M=4.36.Based on the empirical results,it was found that teachers who have completed assessment training have a more positive approach to student assessment,as the average score is higher than teachers who have not completed assessment training.From the qualitative results it was understood that the Teachers did not encounter any difficulties during the assessment of the students.

Curriculum Development and Teachers for Cultivating OECD Student Agency in Japan:From an Examination of Educational Thought,Educational System,History,and Contemporary Science and Mathematics Education Practices

The purpose of this paper is to examine the development of a curriculum in Japan to foster the agency(OECD Student Agency)necessary for children living in the future,as outlined in the OECD Education2030 Project,and the role of teachers who implement this curriculum.Therefore,I aim to achieve this goal by taking an overview of educational thought,educational systems and history,and examining several initiatives in the OECD Project and the situation of a Japanese high school that practices science and mathematics education.As a result of analyzing previous research and the narratives obtained from interviews with Teacher A(pseudonym)of a certain F High School(pseudonym),it was found that school education should not simply teach subjects,but should aim to enable student to help student exercise agency in the future.It was suggested that it is not necessary to add content to the curriculum,but rather to prepare to provide students with competencies that will enable them to use the content in various contexts,situations,and circumstances,suggesting that in order to discover such important competencies,teachers and other related parties are required to implement curricula that allow students to slowly and carefully explore the competencies surrounding the content,and to conceive and build curricula that include both hidden and intended curriculum that allows student to reflect on the curriculum they have achieved.

The Effect of Life Skills Training on the Mental Health and Level of Resilience among Teachers of Normal Students and Teachers of Exceptional Students in Zahedan

This is an experimental study conducted on two groups of control and experimental using pretestposttest design, applying psychological intervention on the study sample. The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of collective education life skills on mental health and resilience of teachers in Zahedan. The population of the study included all teachers at schools with normal students and teachers at schools with exceptional students in Zahedan, among which 60 teachers at normal schools and 20 teachers at exceptional schools were selected and placed in two groups of experimental and control, respectively. Initially, members of the experimental group were taught 10 basic life skills in 10 2-hour sessions. Mental health and resilience questionnaires were distributed and gathered before and after the training sessions. Results indicated the positive effect of life skills training on mental health of teachers at schools with normal students and teachers at schools with exceptional students, which meant that the more the life skills training to teachers at schools with normal students and teachers at schools with exceptional students, the lower their mental health scores would be. Results also indicated the positive effect of life skills training on resilience of teachers at schools with normal students and teachers at schools with exceptional students, which meant that the more the life skills training to teachers at schools with normal students and teachers at schools with exceptional students, the higher their resilience scores would be.

Correlation between interaction anxiousness and sleep deprivation among undergraduate students

Sleep deprivation is a common problem among university students,it causes lowered cognitive skills,higher tend of suicide,risk-taking behavior and interaction anxiety.By using the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)and Interaction Anxiousness Scale(IAS),the survey on the sleep quality and interaction anxiousness was carried out among 124 undergraduate students,in order to found the correlation between sleep deprivation and interaction anxiousness.The results showed a strong positive correlation between them.This study also investigates the difference of PSQI and IAS among students with varied disciplines and grades,and findings illustrated a poor sleep quality as well as poor interpersonal communication situation among university students.

Kinds and Levels of Questions Raised by EFL Teachers and 10th-Grade Students Through Classroom Interaction

The aim of this study is to reveal and classify kinds and levels of questions raised by EFL （English as a foreign language） teachers and students in the 10th-grade classes in Irbid Second Directorate of Education. The sample consisted of 20 teachers： 10 males and 10 females who taught 10th-grade classes, and 20 10th-grade classes： 10 male classes and 10 female classes where the interaction was held. Analysis of the kinds and levels of classroom questions raised by both teachers and students was done. An X2-test was used in analyzing the data of this study to see whether there was a significant difference in the kinds and levels of classroom questions between male and female students. The finding of the study showed that male and female teachers raised three kinds of questions： wh-, yes/no, and multiple choice, there were no differences between male and female teachers in the kinds of questions raised. This study recommended that EFL teachers should vary their teaching procedures and use other different types and levels of questions, other than the types and levels mentioned above.

Observation:The Impact of Teachers' Behavior in Teacher-students Interactions on Pupils' Motivation

To find out in what ways the teacher’s behavior in interactions could motivate students effectively,a two-day observation concerning the relationship between the teacher’s behavior in teacher-students interactions and students’motivations in the classroom was carried out in a primary school in Scotland.The author illustrated the basic content of classrooms observed and the methods of collecting and analyzing the data.Then,it focused on the discussion of the data and related literacy.Finally,it drew the conclusion that the positive feedback,explanations for the reason of doing the task and enthusiastic actions could effectively motivate students to learn.

Native-speakerism in ELT:A Survey of the Attitudes of Students and Teachers in China

This article reports part of the findings of an investigation into the attitudes of Chinese English as a foreign language(EFL)education students and teachers toward Native-speakerism.Data were collected through two sets of questionnaires from 976 students and 146 teachers engaged in College English(CE)programs at six Chinese universities.The analysis of data reveals that the participants as an entirety:(a)endorse native speaker(NS)teachers,NS English and pronunciation;(b)anticipate the localization of teaching approaches emanating from the English speaking West;and(c)expect English textbooks multicultural in content.It was also found that teachers are more supportive of NS teachers and NS English while Inner Circle(Kachru,1985)teaching approaches and multicultural textbooks are more popular with students.All these findings indicate the persistence of Native-speakerism in China’s EFL education as well as the ideological resistance from Chinese EFL education stakeholders.

Cultural Orientations of ELT: The Perspectives of Chinese EFL Students and Teachers

This paper reports on part of the findings of a study that explores the perceptions of Chinese ELT stakeholders on native speakerist practices in ELT.Data related to this paper were collected through questionnaire surveys of 817 Chinese EFL students and 26 Chinese EFL teachers,of whom 26 students and 14 teachers attended follow-up interviews.Data analysis via a critical lens suggests that the majority of the participants uphold Inner Circle culture as the bedrock of English and the reference model of ELT.These suggest the continuity of native speakerist ideology in China’s EFL education.Future studies are expected in view of the finding that an unneglectable proportion of the participants maintain a neutral stance on these issues.

Students＇ Healthy Mental Development Is Promoted by a Harmonious Relationship between Teachers and Students

The harmony of a relationship between teachers and students is a powerful promotion to the students＇ mental health. A ＂shared＂ relationship between teachers and students is advocated now. In the construction of a harmonious relationship between teachers and students, the positions of the teachers and students in teaching should be first made clear, and then an effective mental communication between teachers and students is necessarily available.

Students' and Teachers' Perspectives towards the Use of L1(Mandarin) in EFL Classroom

In the context of China, the maximum use of English is promoted at governmental administrative levels to create effective learning policies(Van & Zhao, 2010) However, during the actual teaching process, the rules are frequently broken by teachers. Hence in order to gain a better understanding of the issue in Chinese senior high school context, the present research seeks to examine teachers' and students' attitudes and beliefs with respect to their perceived functions and effects in incorporating L1 in classrooms. In accordance with previous literature, The research indicated positive role of L1, especially in enhancing students' understanding of difficult concepts and creating comfortable learning environment. In addition, it is notable that, in difference from other studies, the National College Entrance Examination has exercised considerable influence on the perceptions of participants.

An Investigation on Cross-cultural Communication between ForeignTeachers and Chinese Students in College EFL Classes

Nowadays,more and more foreign teachers have come to or been invited to China,joining in the English education cause,especially in colleges and universities.Using the methods of questionnaires and interviews,this paper conducts a survey of three foreign teachers and one hundred Chinese English majors at Qufu Normal University,aiming to explore their different perceptions and attitudes towards varied aspects of cross-cultural communication in native EFL classes.The quantitative and qualitative data obtained from the survey were both processed and analyzed from such categories as "teaching contents","teaching attitude","teaching methods","classroom interaction" and "cultural background".The findings suggested that intercultural communication plays a significant role in the process of English language teaching and learning at college native EFL classes.
