On Students' Self-Evaluation and Class Performance——An Empirical Study in College English Class

This paper aims to demonstrate whether students'self-evaluations influence their class performance.A questionnaire is designed and data is collected from 30 sophomore students in English class.The data analysis shows that students who have positive self-evaluation perform better and get higher class performance scores than students who have negative self-evaluation.

How to Make Use of the English Class to Carry On the Civilization Education to the Students

College students are the new generation and the main force of our society in the future. College students' personality will be directly related to the overall quality of the Chinese nation. Micronuclei in Nasal Mucosa, Oral Mucosa and Lymphocytes in Students Exposed to Formaldehyde Vapor in Anatomy Class

The frequency of micronuclei (MN) in cells of the nasal mucosa, oral mucosa and in lym-phocytes was evaluated for 25 students in anatomy classes exposed to formaldehyde (FA) overan 8-week period. Each student served as his or her own control. The time-weighted averageconcentration (TWA) of fOrmaldehyde in anatomical laboratories and in students' dormitorieswas 0. 508 ± 0. 299 mg/m3 and 0. 012 ± 0. 0025mg/m3, respectively. A higher frequency ofmicronuclei was observed in nasal and oral exfoliative cells after formaldehyde exposure (3. 85± 1. 48 vs 1 .20± 0. 676 and 0. 857 ± 0. 558 vs 0. 568 ± 0. 317, paired-t test: P< 0. 001and P < 0. 01, respectively). No significant increase in the frequency of lymphocyte micronu-clei was found after formaldehyde exposure (P >0. 05 ). The present study shows that nasalmucosa cel1s exposed through respiration are the chief target of FA-induced genotoxic effects

Research on Promote the Attendance of Senior Students in English Class

Effects of Smartphone on College Students in English Speaking Class

Smartphones have become increasingly popular during the past recent years. Survey and analysis of the current situation of humanistic care ability of first-year nursing students after COVID-19

Background:Humanistic care ability is the core of nursing work.Improving humanistic care ability can improve patient satisfaction and the development of a nurse-patient relationships.Objective:To understand the current situation of humanistic care ability of first-year nursing students at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the post-pandemic,and analyze its influencing factors.Methods:The Caring Ability Inventory scale(CAI)is used to survey 343 first-year nursing students.Descriptive analysis,t-test,analysis of variance,and multiple linear regression were used for data analysis.At the same time,the humanistic care ability of first-year nursing students before and after the COVID-19 was compared.Results:The average score of humanistic care ability of first-year nursing students is 173.23±11.288.Through multiple linear regression analysis,whether to hold a position has an impact on the humanistic care ability of nursing students after the COVID-19(P<0.05).Before and after the COVID-19,there were significant differences in total score and each dimension of humanistic care ability of first-year nursing students(P<0.001).Conclusion:The CAI score of the surveyed nursing students is at an intermediate level.In the post-pandemic,the courage dimension of nursing students has improved significantly.But the level of humanistic care ability still needs to be improved.Therefore,in the teaching process,a variety of teaching methods could be applied to improve nursing students'sense of responsibility,understanding and patience with humanistic care,so as to improve their humanistic care ability.

An Investigation on Cross-cultural Communication between ForeignTeachers and Chinese Students in College EFL Classes

Nowadays,more and more foreign teachers have come to or been invited to China,joining in the English education cause,especially in colleges and universities.Using the methods of questionnaires and interviews,this paper conducts a survey of three foreign teachers and one hundred Chinese English majors at Qufu Normal University,aiming to explore their different perceptions and attitudes towards varied aspects of cross-cultural communication in native EFL classes.The quantitative and qualitative data obtained from the survey were both processed and analyzed from such categories as "teaching contents","teaching attitude","teaching methods","classroom interaction" and "cultural background".The findings suggested that intercultural communication plays a significant role in the process of English language teaching and learning at college native EFL classes.

How to Apply Student-centered Teaching Techniques in a Large Class

It is very common to have a class of 50 or more students in Chinese schools, and teaching a foreign language effectively to a large class is really hard work. In order to change the teacher-centered teaching model into the student-centered one, Teachers should keep students' needs, interests, and learning styles in mind, apply several kinds of teaching techniques, organize different classroom activities and encourage, praise and appreciate both students' success and learning process all the time. 小学数学课堂师生互动质量的观察与评价——基于“课堂师生互动评估系统(CLASS)”的实证研究

本文以"课堂师生互动评估系统(CLASS)"为研究工具,对两位优秀小学数学教师的课堂师生互动行为进行了观察和记录,并从师生互动整体水平、情感支持、课堂组织、教学支持等方面对师生互动质量进行了分析评价。基于上述研究,我们发现:有效的课堂师生互动具有积极的情感互动氛围、丰富高效的课堂组织策略和基于思维能力锻炼的教学引导等特点;CLASS作为西方一项成熟的课堂评价工具,具有全面真实地反映课堂师生互动情景、基于学生行为评价师生互动质量、结合定量与定性评价方法促进教师的专业发展等特点,对我国课堂师生互动研究有着宝贵的借鉴意义。

小学低学段语文优质课堂师生互动特征研究--基于CLASS 课堂评价打分系统的分析

采用美国弗吉尼亚大学研究团队开发的课堂评价打分系统(CLASS),围绕情感支持、课堂组织、教学支持三个领域及下设的十个维度,对20节小学低学段语文优质课堂的师生互动状况进行深度观察,探索优质课堂环境下师生互动的整体水平及各维度之间的相互关系,并综合量化数据和质性分析得出研究结论。研究发现,小学低学段语文优质课堂在情感支持方面,能较好地激发教师的职业热情,并培养学生自主自立的精神与能力;在课堂组织方面,能以课堂实效为目标,创设高品质的教学活动;在教学支持方面,能营造安全的思维环境,促进师生深度互动。

Fertile Harvest on Class-Observation

For language instructors, class-observation seems to be of paramount importance because, on the one hand, we may selectthe essential and put them into practice during the observation. On the other hand, to attend and visit other lecturers' lessons maybroaden our horizons and make new friends. I once did the class-observation when I pursued the master's degree in the U.S.A.,and I learned a lot from it, such as visual aids, the method of small conferences, and in-class practices concerning the evaluation ofstudents' papers. This paper will minutely demonstrate the process and try to give fellow colleagues the benefits of my experienceand perhaps some advice on teaching English.

师生互动是课堂教学的核心构成。师生互动的效果直接决定了课程质量的优劣。由美国弗吉尼亚大学皮亚塔教授所带领的团队研发的评估师生互动评估的观察工具--CLASS评价体系,是国外较为流行、使用广泛的一种评估工具。针对信息技术引发课堂环境的深刻变革,全面分析了信息技术教学环境下CLASS评价体系的优势和局限性,在此基础上提出了CLASS评价体系的改进路径,并结合实际的案例进行验证分析,为进一步完善信息技术教学环境师生互动评价提供新的视角。

When Prior Knowledge Helps： Self-Report of First-Year University Undergraduates on Academic Writing

This qualitative-dominant mixed study used content analysis, interviews, and survey to examine if first-year university undergraduates taking English language academic writing courses consider prior knowledge from high school English language five-paragraph essay writing style helpful. Sample included 67 first year university undergraduates. All the 67 students considered prior knowledge of the high school five-paragraph essay writing style helpful. They believed that it facilitated a transfer of learning in the first-year university undergraduate academic writing course. However, only 15 out of the respondents, who reported that prior knowledge of the high school English language five-paragraph essay writing style was helpful, also reported that they are level-appropriate competent in the first-year university undergraduate English language academic writing courses after one academic year. As such, essay-writing in high school offers students some foundation-knowledge to succeed in academic writing in universities. Further findings showed that students often delve into essay or academic writing without proper planning. Thus, it is recommended that universities introduce a bridge course specifically to address academic deficiency in reading and writing for all first year undergraduates upon admission into the university.
