The species was previously reported from scattered localities in southweste...DEAR EDITOR, The sun bear, Helarctos malayanus （Raffles, 1821）, is a forest- dependent bear species distributed in tropical Southeast Asia. The species was previously reported from scattered localities in southwestern China, which is at the northeastern edge of its global range. Due to the scarcity of reliable recent records, some authorities cast doubt on the continued existence of sun bear in China. Here we present the rediscovery of this species in Yingjiang County, western Yunnan Province, China, near the international border with Myanmar＇s Kachin State.展开更多

The center o...The cosmic-ray particles of TeV-regime, outside the solar system are blocked in their way to the Earth, a deficit of particles is observed corresponding to the location of the Sun known as the Sun shadow. The center of the Sun shadow is shifted from its nominal position due to the presence of magnetic fields in interplanetary space,and this shift is used indirectly as a probe to study the solar magnetic field that is difficult to measure otherwise.A detailed Monte Carlo simulation of galactic cosmic-ray propagation in the Earth-Sun system is carried out to disentangle the cumulative effects of solar, interplanetary and geomagnetic fields. The shadowing effects and the displacements results of the Sun shadow in different solar activities are reproduced and discussed.展开更多
The Sun Also Rises,as the representative work of Ernest Hemingway,had been studied from various perspectives by the researchers.This thesis focuses on the consumerism culture in the novel.The theory of consumerism cul...The Sun Also Rises,as the representative work of Ernest Hemingway,had been studied from various perspectives by the researchers.This thesis focuses on the consumerism culture in the novel.The theory of consumerism culture became a comparative⁃ly new theory after World War I and is now called consumerism.This thesis is divided into an introduction,the main body and a conclusion.The introduction shows the researches of home and abroad and comes up with the theme of consumerism revealed in The Sun Also Rises based on the researches.The main body consists of three parts.The first chapter discusses the rise of consumer⁃ism in The Sun Also Rises.By analyzing the social background and elements of consumerism,the thesis looks at the consumerism in the novel.The second chapter explores the attitudes of Jake Barnes and Lady Brett Ashely toward consumption as well as the con⁃sumption pattern in the novel.The last chapter discusses Hemingway’s value orientation,the pursuit for the consumption of the modern people and women as the prime consumer in contemporary society[18].The conclusion summarizes the main ideas discussed in the previous chapters and offers reflections on consumerism for contemporary China.展开更多

In 2007 and 2008, the Sky Quality Meter (SQM) was used in four regions in Malaysia to measure the brightness at night, pseudo dawn, true dawn, true dusk and pseudo dusk. The measurements were taken when the device was directed to the position of sunrise and sunset at the horizontal angle of the sunrise or sunset and at five degrees above the horizon during the entire monitoring period. The altitude of the sun for the true dusk was found to be -14.38°± 0.91°and for the beginning of the pseudo dusk was found to be -14.86°± 0.91°and the end of the pseudo dusk is -17.8°± 0.7°, while for the beginning of the true dawn it was found to be -14.19°± 0.52°(for high confidence -14.71°) and for the pseudo dawn was found to be -18.62°± 0.82°. The light magnitude of the full night after the pseudo dusk was found to be 20.77 ± 0.93 mag./arcsec<sup>2</sup>, while it was found to be 22.17 ± 0.1 mag./arcsec<sup>2</sup> before the pseudo dawn.展开更多
