The Aesthetic Inheritance of the Mao Dun Literature Prize in the Flux-Take Xu Mao and His Daughters and A Tale of the Wind as Examples

The Mao Dun Literature Prize is one of the well-known literary awards in China,and in the process of selection over the years,the Mao Dun Literature Prize has developed its own aesthetic orientation.A comparison is made between the early generation of Xu Mao and His Daughters and the recent award-winning work,A Tale of the Wind,to discover the aesthetic heritage in its flux,which is enlightening for the literary criticism and an orientation for the literary creators.

A hybrid model for numerical wave forecasting and its implementation-Ⅰ.The wind wave model

The authors make an endeavor to explain why a new hybrid wave model is here proposed when several such models have already been in operation and the so- called third generation wave modej is proving attractive. This part of the paper is devoted to the wind wave model. Both deep and shallow water models have been developed, the former being actually a special case of the latter when water depth is great. The deep water model is exceptionally simple in form. Significant wave height is the only prognostic variable. In comparison with the usual methods to compute the energy input and dissipations empirically or by 'tuning', the proposed model has the merit that the effects of all source terms are combined into one term which is computed through empirical growth relations for significant waves, these relations being, relatively speaking, easier and more reliable to obtain than those for the source terms in the spectral energy balance equation. The discrete part of the model and the implementation of the model as a whole will be discussed in the second part of the present paper.

A Corpus-Based Analysis of the Animal Images in The Wind Among the Reeds

The Wind Among the Reeds, written from 1889 to 1939, is regarded as one of the most remarkable poetry collections of William Butler Yeats. It altogether includes 80 poems touching upon several themes such as love, religion, dignity, and life. Yeats is one of the most distinguished Irish poets throughout the world, whose works perfectly embody the incorporation of romanticism, modernism, and occultism. It is noteworthy that in some of his poems, animals are portrayed frequently or even taken as the title of a poem, such as bird, fish, swan and so on. Therefore, this essay attempts to study the meaning of animal images of this poetry anthology in terms of different writing phases of Yeats. Firstly, the author builds the corpus of The Wind Among the Reeds and employs corpus search software Ant Cone to check the number and distribution of the animal image. Next, the author focuses on certain prominent images and investigates them further by analyzing the concordance lines of them. Thirdly, according to the result of distribution information, the author also attaches importance to the phenomenon of image combination in the poetry and then explores its function and effect. To conclude, by exploring the animal image in The WindAmong the Reeds, a deeper understanding of the poetry and the writing style of the poet will be gained on another level. What is more, a more direct and objective data is provided through the method of corpus and its relevant software, thereupon a new research approach is introduced.

Optimization of the Active Composition of the Wind Farm Using Genetic Algorithms

The article presents the results of research on the possibilities of using genetic algorithms for solving the multicriteria optimization problem of determining the active components of a wind farm.Optimization is carried out on two parameters:efficiency factor of wind farm use(integrated parameter calculated on the basis of 6 parameters of each of the wind farm),average power deviation level(average difference between the load power and energy generation capabilities of the active wind farm).That was done an analysis of publications on the use of genetic algorithms to solve multicriteria optimization problems.Computer simulations were performed,which allowed us to analyze the obtained statistical data and determine the main optimization indicators.That was carried out a comparative analysis of the obtained results with other methods,such as the dynamic programming method;the dynamic programming method with the general increase of the set loading;the modified dynamic programming method,neural networks.It is established that the average power deviation for the genetic algorithm and for the modified dynamic programming method is located at the same level,33.7 and 28.8 kW,respectively.The average value of the efficiency coefficient of wind turbine used for the genetic algorithm is 2.4%less than for the modified dynamic programming method.However,the time of finding the solution by the genetic algorithm is 3.6 times less than for the modified dynamic programming method.The obtained results provide an opportunity to implement an effective decision support system in energy flow management.

In this paper, we study and review some main characteristics of the wind field in the PBL from the view point connecting the macro-dynamics and micro-stucture of the PBL, thus providing the physical basis for the further research of the dynamics and the parameterization of the PBL.

A Cognitive Account of Metaphor Translation in Two Chinese Versions of The Wind in the Willows

Cognitive Metaphor Theory(CMT), originally formulated by Lakoff and Johnson in 1980, rejects the traditional view of metaphor being a rhetorical phenomenon, and redefines it as a cognitive instrument by which humans perceive, categorize, and conceptualize the world.The cognitive method of metaphor studies offers an innovative research perspective on metaphor translation, which is more a process of reproducing in the target language the mapping relations of the original metaphor than a simple transplantation of the concept on the linguistic level.Metaphor is one of the most common figures of speech in children's literature, but its translation is not as effortless as it might be, for translators have to take into account not only factors such as linguistic, cultural, and social differences, but also children's limited linguistic level and cognitive abilities, which altogether pose a formidable challenge to translators.This paper attempts to construct a cognitive metaphor translation model by exploring the cognitive process that translators go through when dealing with metaphor from the perspective of CMT.The cognitive metaphor translation process is specified as including three steps: metaphor comprehension, metaphor adjustment, and metaphor reconstruction.By analyzing metaphor examples extracted from two Chinese versions of The Wind in the Willows, a masterpiece of Kenneth Grahame in children's literature of Britain, this article summarizes metaphor translation techniques in children's literature.

Numerical Simulation of Water Waves’ Modulational Instability under the Effects of Wind’s Stress and Gravity Force Relaxation

The waves driven by the wind do not move on the water as ordinarily done by sailboats. Indeed, the movement of the waves driven by the wind is more complex than the sailboats’ translation movement that we know. The movement of the wave in our particular case results from the chain-job done by wind’s stress and gravity forces: material is collected upstream (erosion phenomenon) and then deposited on the wave’s summit by the wind. This material deposited on the summit of the wave by the wind is then removed and dispatched on the downstream side of the wave by gravity forces. As always happens in any chain-job: if the wind works faster than gravity forces, great accumulation of material will occur at the summit of the wave that will lead to an increase in its (the wave in this case) height. If conversely the wind works more slowly, a deficit in material delivery will occur and gravity force goes directly to remove material on the wave’s summit and lead to a decrease in its height. In terms of Mechanics, we know that the main obstacle that can seriously disturb the work of the wind is the unavailability of water or so its viscosity. Given the complexity of the process to be studied, it seemed necessary for us to make a use of modulational instability theories such as the standard NLSE in order to better understand the contribution of wind and water viscosity to modulations of driven waves’ amplitudes (or phases): modulations which sometimes can accidentally trigger unpredictable rogue waves.

Multivariate Objective Analysis of Wind and Height Fields in the Tropics

The commollly used objective analysis scheme(Scheme-A) for the analysis Of wind and geopotential height smoothen the divergent component of the wind which is rather important in the tropics,specifically over convective regions.To overcome this deficiellcy, a new analysis SCheme in which divergent component is included in the statistical model of the wind forecast errors,has been proposed by Daley(1985).Following this scheme,a new set of correlahon functions of forecast errors for the indian region during monsoon season which are suitable for analysing the tropical wind are obtained.This analysis scheme(Scheme--B) as well as Scheme-A were used to make analyses for the period from 4 July to & July 1979(12 GMT) at 850,700 and 200 hpa levels over an area bounded by l.875'N to 39.375'N and 41.250'E to 108.750'E and subsequently divergent component,velocity potential are computed for both schemes.Results from both these schemes show that in the monsoon depression region the velocity potential and divergence have increased in the later case(Scheme-B).This suggests that the divergent component has been enhanced in Scheme-B and that the objechve of this study is realized to some extent.
