Comparison of Clinical Thinking Ability in Nursing Students of Different Grades

Objective： This study investigated and compared the clinical thinking ability of undergraduate nursing students of different grades, and searched for influencing factors of clinical thinking ability of nursing undergraduate students. Methods： The convenience sampling method was used to select the Subject of the study. In total, 180 third-year, fourth-year, and fifth-year nursing undergraduate students were enrolled in this study. A self-designed scale of clinical thinking ability was used to collect the data. SPSS17.0 was used to analyze the data. Results： The average scores of clinical thinking ability of undergraduate nursing students were 68.14±9.13. In addition, 71.1% of the students have a higher level of clinical thinking ability, and only 7.2% of the students have the best level. The ANOVA test showed that the fourth-year students had the highest scores（72.96±8.64）, and the third-year students had the lowest scores（62.35±8.09）, which indicated a significant difference in the scores of the three groups（ F= 26. 79, P〈0.05）. Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that the frequency of academic activities and the frequency of department rounds were significantly correlated to clinical thinking ability（P〈0.05）. Conclusion： We must pay attention to the changes and influencing factors of clinical thinking ability of nursing undergraduate students. Thus, traditional teaching methods need to evolve and be revised to host the capacity of clinical practice most effectively and, eventually, promote the development of clinical thinking ability of nursing undergraduate students.

Cultivation of College Students＇ Critical Thinking Ability Through the Reading-Discussion-Writing Approach

Critical thinking ability is the core skill of higher education. How to train the non-English major students＇ critical thinking ability in the English writing instruction plays an important role in the compound personnel training. In this paper, the reading-discussion-writing approach which guarantees the innovative construction of writing is proposed to train college students＇ critical thinking ability, and specific suggestions on the practice are articulated such as designing diversified listening and speaking lead-in activities to activate or supplement the relative notion and background knowledge, using variety of challenging reading-discussion-writing tasks, and conducting mutual evaluation, etc., to let students deeply understand the text through discussion and promote their language competence and writing ability as well as their reflective thinking ability.

Analysis on Construction of the Cultivation Mode of Thinking Ability in College English Teaching

With the increasing competition of international talents, cultivating college students’ ability of thinking has become the core content of college English teaching, and it has a very important role for students to work and develop in the future. At present, however, there are still many problems in the practice teaching process of college English teaching and learning ability training mode in China. Therefore, this article starts from the basic concept of thinking ability, and analyzes the importance of thinking ability in the college English teaching. Combining the current situation of college English teaching on the students’ thinking ability, further explore how to effectively construct the training mode of English teaching ability, in order to improve the efficiency of college English classroom teaching.

Text Analysis and Developing Students＇ English Thinking Ability

Different from other studies, the paper makes some attempts to combine text analysis with developing students＇ English thinking ability. Based on the view that English thinking ability is connected with improving overall language abilities such as listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating, the paper proposes approaches to develop English thinking ability as well as syntactic fluency. The paper presents a hypothesis： The development of a text is the author＇s train of thought. If one wants to acquire the thinking way used by author, the indirect but efficient approach is to analyze the texts written by the authors. If we want to develop students＇ thinking ability, the way is to analyze the various texts rather than to give the list of text developing principles. Therefore, the key to the problem is how to analyze text so as to improve students＇ thinking ability？ Michael Stubbs in his Discourse Analysis wrote, ＂Predict ability may be the single most important feature of human communication, precisely since it is central not only to all level of language; but also central to meaning and to thinking in general. Predictions are possible because language is structured. Such intuitive predictions are in turn a crucial part of our data in setting up language structures.＂ According to the view given by Michael Stubbs, the paper offers three approaches to analyzing texts.

Training Students' Innovatory Thinking Ability in Graphic Education

Graphic education should have full scope for developing and training students' abilities of image thinking and innovatory thinking, and should integrate pedagogy with scientism, and should combine imparting knowledge with training capacity. Cultivate Critical Thinking Ability via Students’ Presentations in College English Classes

Effects of Formal Instruction on the Development of Learners’ Critical Thinking Ability

Over the past decades, increasingly more critical thinking （CT） in Western countries. attention has been paid to cultivating learners＇ Chinese educators and teachers have also realized the necessity of developing Chinese students＇ ability for critical thinking and advocated pedagogical reform. However, the practice of formal instruction in developing learners＇ critical thinking and related empirical studies are rarely seen. This pilot research, selecting four major critical thinking skills, is aimed to study the effects of formal instruction on the development of Chinese college students＇ critical thinking ability. With the quantitative and qualitative research, the findings indicate that the intensive instruction is effective in improving the sample＇s critical thinking ability, NOT in terms of the observed behavioral change, BUT in terms of their unobservable mental awareness.

The Strategies of Cultivating High-School Students＇ Ability of English Thinking in the English Classes

The most important thing of English-learning is the ability of English thinking. Creative Problem-Solving and Music: Analyzing the Correlation between Music and Divergent Thinking Abilities

The Application of Pragmatic Presupposition in Developing Critical Thinking of Writing

This study aims to explore whether developing critical thinking ability from the perspective of pragmatic presupposition can help non-English majors improve their writing achievements.This empirical study employs tests as the instruments.126 non-English majors from a key university of Shandong Province participate in the study.The results of the Ennis-Weir Critical Thinking Essay Test indicate that most subjects(95%)have inadequate or limited critical thinking ability,which leads to digression,repetitive and lengthy description,and unconvincing arguments,as well as illogical or incoherent structures in writing.After a ten-week teaching instruction from the perspective of pragmatic presupposition,students in experimental group improve their writing achievements,indicating that the instruction of critical thinking ability from the perspective of pragmatic presupposition may have certain effects on their writing performance.The study will promote the application of pragmatic presupposition to writing teaching and offer some implications for the teaching of English writing.

Research on the Activity Frame Work of Using Visual Thinking Tools

The development of high order thinking has been considered as a national priority of learning. By using three iteration action research in six elementary schools in Guangzhou, China for about 1 year and a half, we found that visual thinking tools can improve students＇ high order thinking ability and change the traditional teaching method. By using this activity frame work, the teachers can better understand what are the students thinking about and the students can use the thinking tools to help themselves solve complex problems and discuss with other people. The reason we do this research is to improve the high-order thinking ability of primary student. In this paper, we summarize an activity frame work of using visual thinking tools to improve students thinking ability. And the frame work can be divided into three stages： preparatory stage, implementation stage and assessment stage. And different stage has different activity. Though this activity frame work is not perfect enough, we will improve it in our future study.

Exploring the Practice of Cultivating Design Thinking Skills in Visual Communication Major

The development of diversified industries has promoted the emergence of diversified majors,and visual communication is a new type of profession,and the course is also a new type of course,which requires students to have better design thinking,and how to improve the design thinking of visual communication majors through daily learning.Based on this,this paper proposes a definition of visual communication and the relevance of design thinking.It proposes a strategy to enhance the design thinking ability of visual communication majors.

Thus, metaphor, as a significant way of thinking, not only provides the new way for English teaching, but also proposes the viewpoint that language teaching is one of the fields for cultivating thinking ability and creativity.

ON THE FUNDAMENTAL DIRECTION OF THE REFORM OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE EDUCATION IN CHINA

This paper discusses some of the unfounded beliefs in current foreign language education policy and English language teaching, i.e. learning a foreign language will make a person cleverer; learning a foreign language will improve one's potential power and creative ability; the younger the child learns a foreign language, the better he will learn the language. In the light of the problems in current foreign language teaching and foreign language education policy, the paper has put forward some reform proposals including 'differentiating cities from rural areas, stressing teaching efficiency and cutting down class hours, and offering a foreign language in schools either as a compulsory or as a selective course according to different needs of students'. In conclusion, the paper holds that the reform measures will bring benefit to the country as well as to its people and should be a guide to the reform of China's foreign language education.
