The microfiber was fabricated using the flame brushing method to an interaction length of - 1.2 cm with a waist diameter of -10 μm. Based on the coupled nonlinear Schr6dinger (CNLS) equation, a model simulating the mode-locked process of an all-normal-dispersion ring fiber laser is developed, which shows that the achievement of stable mode-locking depends on the alignment of the polarization controller (PC) along the fast-polarization axis of the fiber, the birefringence intensity, and the net cavity dispersion. According to the theoretical analysis, stable mode-locked pulses with pulse duration 300 ps and average output power 33.9 mW at repetition rate 36 MHz are obtained.展开更多

It consists of four fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) directly written in a section of photosensitive erbium-doped fiber (EDF) to form an asymmetric three-cavity structure. The stable SLM operation at a wavelength of 1545.112 nm with a 3-dB bandwidth of 0.012 nm and an optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) of about 60 dB is verified experimentally. Under laboratory conditions, the performance of a power fluctuation of less than 0.05 dB observed from the power meter for 6 h and a wavelength variation of less than 0.01 nm obtained from the optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) for about 1.5 h are demonstrated. The gain fiber length is no longer limited to only several centimeters for SLM operation because of the excellent mode-selecting ability of the asymmetric three-cavity structure. The proposed scheme provides a simple and cost-effective approach to realizing a stable SLM fiber laser.展开更多

Then, SC spectra from 1100 to 1380 nm and 630 to 840 nm can be achieved by combined effects of higher-order soliton fission and Raman soliton self-frequency shift in the anomalous dispersion region and self-phase modulation, dispersive wave, and four-wave mixing in the normal dispersion region. It is also demonstrated that the 20 nm change of pump results in a 280 nm broadband shift of soliton and the further red-shift of soliton is limited by OH-absorption at 1380 nm.展开更多

Fiber laser and fiber amplifier are merged in one configuration which called Erbium Doped Fiber Laser and Amplifier (EDFLA) or integrating EDFL and EDFA in one design. The configuration has three main outputs;one for laser, second for amplifier and the third it can be used for on/off output. A surprising phenomenon was remarked during the operation of this configuration. The amplification is abolished during the lasing state and appeared again if the lasing is stopped or the switch is off. The difference between outputs with the lasing and without lasing has 30 dB EDFA gain value;it is a good sign that this optical configuration can be used as an on/off integrated optical device for fiber laser.展开更多

The output power can reach 1.28 W at 4.89-μm wavelength, with a pump power of 5 W, excitation wavelength at 2.04 μm, Pr^(3+) ion concentration at 4.22 × 10^(25) ions/m^3,fiber length at 0.94 m, and fiber background loss at 3 dB/m.
文摘We report on a theoretical and experimental study of an all-normal-dispersion (ANDi) Yb-doped mode-locked fiber laser, in which nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) is used to realize mode-locking without any dispersion compensation. According to the theoretical analysis, stable mode-locked pulses with pulse duration 300 ps and average output power 33.9 mW at repetition rate 36 MHz are obtained.

文摘We present a stable linear-cavity single longitudinal mode (SLM) erbium-doped silica fiber laser. The proposed scheme provides a simple and cost-effective approach to realizing a stable SLM fiber laser.

文摘In this paper, the chaotic behaviors in an erbium-doped fiber(EDF) single-ring laser(EDFSRL) are investigated experimentally by using the loss modulation method. An electro-optic modulator(EOM) made of LiNbO 3 crystal is added to the system. Thus,by changing the modulation voltage and the modulation frequency of the EOM,the freedom of the EDFSRL system is increased. The chaotic characteristics of the system are studied by observing the time series and the power spectra. The experimental results indicate that the erbium-doped fiber single-ring laser system can enter into chaos states through period-doubling bifurcation and intermittency routes.

文摘An all-fiber laser using a single-walled carbon nanotube(SWCNT) as the saturable absorber(SA) for Q-switched operation in the 1031 nm region is demonstrated in this work. A lasing threshold as low as 17 mW was realized for continuous wave operation. By further increasing the pump power, stable Q-switched pulse trains are obtained when the pump power ranges from 38 mW to 125 mW, corresponding to repetition rate varying from 40.84 kHz to 66.24 kHz, the pulse width from 2.0 μs to 1.0 μs,and the highest single pulse energy of 40.6 nJ respectively.

文摘We experimentally demonstrate that a tunable supercontinuum(SC) can be generated in a Yb3+-doped microstructure fiber by the concept of wavelength conversion with a Ti:sapphire femtosecond(fs) laser as the pump.Experimental results show that an emission light around 1040 nm in an anomalous dispersion region is first generated and amplified by fs pulses in the normal dispersion region. It is also demonstrated that the 20 nm change of pump results in a 280 nm broadband shift of soliton and the further red-shift of soliton is limited by OH-absorption at 1380 nm.
文摘An all fiber wavelength selective Q switching modulator based on fiber grating loop mirror is proposed. A newly configured Q switched erbium doped fiber laser using this all fiber modulator is numerically analyzed taking into account the effects of the spontaneous emission.
文摘In this paper, new configuration is proposed, investigated and analyzed. The difference between outputs with the lasing and without lasing has 30 dB EDFA gain value;it is a good sign that this optical configuration can be used as an on/off integrated optical device for fiber laser.
文摘A comprehensive numerical model based on solving rate equations of a thulium-doped silica-based fiber amplifier is evaluated. The pump power and thulium-doped fiber (TDF) length for single-pass Thulium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers (TDFA) are theoretically optimized to achieve the optimum Gain and Noise Figure (NF) at the center of S-band region. The 1064 nm pump is used to provide both ground-state and excited state absorptions for amplification in the S-band region. The theoretical result is in agreement with the published experimental result.

文摘In this paper, we adopt cloud computing in a specific scientific computing field for its virtualization, distribution and dynamic extendibility as follows: We obtain high-energy parabolic self-similar pulses by numerical simulation using our non-distributed passively mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser model. For researching characteristics of these wave-breaking-free self-similar pulses, chirp of them must be extracted. We propose several time-frequency analysis methods adopted in chirp extraction of ultra-short optical pulses for the first time and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of them in this particular application.

文摘Sn_(1−x)Er_(x)O_(2)(x=0%,8%,16%,24%)micro/nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning combined with heat treatment using erbium nitrate, stannous chloride and polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)as raw materials. The target products were characterized by thermogravimetric analyzer,X-ray diffrotometer, fourier transform infrared spectrometer, scanning electron microscope, spectrophotometer and infrared emissivity tester, and the effects of Er^(3+)doping on its infrared and laser emissivity were studied. At the same time, the Sn_(1−x)Er_(x)O_(2)(x=0%,16%)doping models were constructed based on the first principles of density functional theory, and the related optoelectronic properties such as their energy band structure, density of states, reflectivity and dielectric constant were analyzed, and further explained the mechanism of Er^(3+)doping on SnO_(2)infrared emissivity and laser absorption from the point of electronic structure. The results showed that after calcination at 600℃,single rutile type SnO_(2)was formed, and the crystal structure was not changed by doping Er^(3+).The calcined products showed good fiber morphology, and the average fiber diameter was 402 nm.The infrared emissivity and resistivity of the samples both decreased first and then increased with the increase of Er^(3+)doping amount. When x=16%,the infrared emis-sivity of the sample was at least 0.71;and Er^(3+)doping can effectively reduce the reflectivity of SnO_(2)at 1.06μm and 1.55μm,when x=16%,its reflectivity at 1.06μm and 1.55μm are 50.5%and 40%,respectively,when x=24%,the reflectivity at 1.06μm and 1.55μm wavelengths are 47.3%and 42.1%,respectively.At the same time, the change of carrier concentration and electron transition before and after Er^(3+)doping were described by first-principle calculation, and the regulation mechanism of infrared emissivity and laser reflectivity was explained. This study provides a certain experimental and theoretical basis for the development of a single-type,light-weight and easily prepared infrared and laser compatible-stealth material.
