A broadband low sidelobe beamforming scheme in time domain is proposed in this paper. The first step of this scheme is to delay the outputs of each element in the acoustic array by a tapped-delay-line (TDL) to accomplish the integer part of the time delay need to form a beam. Then, finite impulse response (FIR) digital filters are used to implement the fractional part of the time delay. The weighting coefficients for all array elements at different frequencies to realize the low sidelobe beams are also implemented with the FIR digital filters. Finally, the outputs of the digital filters are summed up to yield the time domain beam output. The design of low sidelobe beam pattern and that of the FIR digital filters are two crucial technical issues in this beamforming procedure. The low sidelobe beams of each sub-band are designed using the optimized beam synthesis approach based on the principle of MVDR beamforming. An improved adaptive approach are used for the design of FIR digital filters, and the design requirements of these filters were specified by the weights of low sidelobe beams of each sub-band over the broad frequency band. Results of computer simulation for a twelve-element arc array show that the beamforming scheme is very effective in forming low sidelobe broadband beam.展开更多

Shift operator finite difference time domain (SO-FDTD) method is used in the analysis. By using the SO-FDTD method, the transmission spectrum is obtained and its characteristics are investigated for different thicknesses of superconductor layers and dielectric layers, from which a stop band starting from zero frequency can be apparently observed. The relation between this low-frequency stop band and relative temperature, and also the London penetration depth at a superconductor temperature of zero degree are discussed, separately. The low-frequency stop band properties of superconductor-dielectric superlattice thus are well disclosed.展开更多

The concepts of the digital systems are introduced to the (FD) 2TD method. On the basis of digital filter designing and vector algebra, the absorbing boundary condition under arbitrary angle of incidence are derived. The transient electromagnetic problems in two dimensions and three dimensions are calculated and the validity of the ABC is verified.展开更多

This paper presents two methods to derive time-scale transformation formula based on continuous wavelet transform. For an arbitrary given square-integrable function f(t),g(t) = f(t/λ) is derived by continuous wavelet transform and its inverse transform. The result shows that time-scale transformation may be obtained through the modification of the time-scale of wavelet function filter using equivalent substitution. The paper demonstrates the result by theoretic derivations and experimental simulation.展开更多
