The local field potential(LFP) is a signal reflecting the electrical activity of neurons surrounding the electrode tip. Synchronization between LFP signals provides important details about how neural networks are organized. Synchronization between two distant brain regions is hard to detect using linear synchronization algorithms like correlation and coherence. Synchronization likelihood(SL) is a non-linear synchronization-detecting algorithm widely used in studies of neural signals from two distant brain areas. One drawback of non-linear algorithms is the heavy computational burden. In the present study, we proposed a graphic processing unit(GPU)-accelerated implementation of an SL algorithm with optional 2-dimensional time-shifting. We tested the algorithm with both artificial data and raw LFP data. The results showed that this method revealed detailed information from original data with the synchronization values of two temporal axes,delay time and onset time, and thus can be used to reconstruct the temporal structure of a neural network. Our results suggest that this GPU-accelerated method can be extended to other algorithms for processing time-series signals(like EEG and f MRI) using similar recording techniques. 展开更多

Pilot contamination can bring up a grave impairment in the performance of massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)systems.In this paper,an improved time-shifted pilot scheme is proposed to reduce the pilot contamination,where orthogonal pilots are employed in the same group to eliminate the residual intragroup interference existing in the original time-shifted pilot scheme.Meanwhile,the rigorous closed-form expressions of both downlink and uplink transmission rates with a finite number of antennas are derived,and it is shown that the intra-group interference can be completely eliminated by the proposed scheme.Simulation results demonstrate that both downlink and uplink transmission rates are significantly improved by employing the proposed scheme. 展开更多

Massive MIMO systems have got extraordinary spectral efficiency using a large number of base station antennas,but it is in the challenge of pilot contamination using the aligned pilots.To address this issue,a selective transmission is proposed using time-shifted pilots with cell grouping,where the strong interfering users in downlink transmission cells are temporally stopped during the pilots transmission in uplink cells.Based on the spatial characteristics of physical channel models,the strong interfering users are selected to minimize the inter-cell interference and the cell grouping is designed to have less temporally stopped users within a smaller area.Furthermore,a Kalman estimator is proposed to reduce the unexpected effect of residual interferences in channel estimation,which exploits both the spatial-time correlation of channels and the share of the interference information.The numerical results show that our scheme significantly improves the channel estimation accuracy and the data rates. 展开更多

The influence of cells groupings factor to the performance of the cells groupings time-shift pilot scheme is researched for the multiple cells large scale antennas systems(LSAS). The former researches have confirmed that the cells groupings time-shift pilots scheme is effective to reduce inter-cell interference, especially pilot contamination, which results from the pilot reuse in adjacent cells. However, they have not specified reasonable cells groupings factor, which plays a critical role in the general performance of the LSAS. Therefore, this problem is researched in details. The time for reverse-link data transmission will be compressed, when the groupings factor surpasses a certain range. Thus it is not always beneficial to increase the cells groupings factor without limitation. Furthermore,a reasonable cells groupings factor is deduced from the perspective of optimization to enhance the system performance. Simulations verify the proposed cell grouping factor. 展开更多

A good example of such a process is the drying of a milk spray to produce milk powder, where the process efficiency and product quality is typically controlled by atomization parameters like flow rate, pressure, etc.. However, these parameters influence directly the droplet size and droplet velocity distributions in a spray, so that optimizing a spray drying process often involves adjusting the spray to a desired droplet size and droplet velocity distribution. This requires a measurement technique capable of characterizing in real time, the droplets in a suspension/emulsion spray. In this paper,a mathematical model for target tracking using nonlinear scalar range sensors is formulated first.A time-shift sensor scheduling strategy is addressed on the basis of a k-barrier coverage protocol and all the sensors are divided into two classes of clusters,active cluster,and submissive cluster,for energy-saving.Then two types of time-shift nonlinear filters are proposed for both active and submissive clusters to estimate the trajectory of the moving target with disturbed dynamics.The stochastic stability of the two filters is analyzed.Finally,some numerical simulations are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the new filters with a comparison of EKF. 展开更多
