The results showed that the rice seedlings treated with cold tolerant seed-coating agents under chilling stress maintained dramatically higher root vigor, POD, CAT and SOD activities, and chlorophyll content, had lower MDA content and electrolyte leakage, and accumulated more soluble sugar and free proline, when compared with the control without the treatment, and finally showed lower plant injury rate. It was indicated that the cold tolerant seed coating agent improved the ability of rice seedlings in resisting to chilling stress. YKZYJ was ranked the first in terms of the efficiency in cold tolerance among the four cold tolerant seed-coating agents tested.展开更多

Water culture studies were conducted to investigate the physiological mechanismexercised by this variety in particular and rice plant in general to face the saline environment. Performanceof this rice variety and the concentration and uptake of ions were studied under stress of three salinity levels(30, 60 and 90 mmol L-1) created with NaCl. Recorded data indicated that shoot dry matter was notsignificantly affected by all the three levels of salinity. However, NaCl levels of 60 and 90 mmol L-1 affectedthe root dry matter significantly. Sodium concentration and uptake was enhanced significantly in root andshoot at the first level of salinity (30 mmol L-1) but thereafter the differences were non-significant, indicatingthe preferential absorption of this cation. The K concentration decreased significantly in shoots at all thelevels. The impact was less pronounced in roots as far as K absorption was concerned. The effect on Ca andMg concentrations was not significant. The values of K:Na, Ca:Na and (Ca+Mg):Na ratios in shoot and rootwere comparatively low under stress conditions, indicating that selective ion absorption may be the principalsalt tolerance mechanism of variety Shaheen Basmati when grown in a saline medium.展开更多

Since its description, the phenomenon of glutamatergic excitotoxicity has been implicated in the physiopathology of a wide range of neurological and psychiatric disorders, from acute brain damage such as traumatic brain injury, ischemia as well as chronic condi- tions like epilepsy, depression and neurodegenerative pathologies such as Huntington's, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. Exces- sive stimulation of glutamatergic receptors, mainly N-methyl-D-as- partate (NMDA) receptors (NMDAR), can have numerous adverse effects on the cell viability, including increased nitric oxide release (NO), activation of proteases, increased production of reactive oxygen (ROS) and nitrogen (RNS) species and massive influx of calcium ions (Ca2+), resulting in cell death. Thus, the use of strategies that modulate the excitotoxic cell damage represents a perspective for the treatment of diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, ischemia, traumatic brain injury (TBI) and seizures.展开更多

The mechanical hole out of dimension tolerance of AZ31 magnesium alloy was chosen as the repaired object. The results indicated that the AP-RAFSR process rather than the R-AFSR process avoided the kissing bond in the bottom of the repairing interface under the condition of the tool pin length equal to the height of the standard mechanical hole. The continuously-distributed and large-length super-fine grain bands were eliminated in the stir zone by AP-RAFSR. The maximum tensile and compressive-shear strengths of repaired hole by AP-RAFSR reached 190.6 MPa and 138.9 MPa at 1200 rpm respectively, which were equivalent to 97.7% and 89.6% of those of the standard mechanical hole. This AP-RAFSR process assisted by the truncated cone-shaped filling material provides a new technique to obtain a no-depth-increasing, defect-free and high-strength repaired mechanical hole.展开更多

文摘Radial additive friction stir repairing(R-AFSR)assisted by stationary shoulder was put forward in the present study, which can be employed to repair the mechanical hole out of dimension tolerance of AZ31 magnesium alloy sheet. The results show that the stationary shoulder has sealed-barrier,heat-sink and extra-forging effects. The heat-sink effect improves the microstructure uniformity along the stir zone(SZ)thickness and the surface appearance of repaired hole, and the sealedbarrier and extra-forging effects eliminate the super-fine grain band in the SZ.Therefore, these three effects improve the formation quality of repaired region, thereby enhancing the mechanical properties of repaired mechanical hole compared with conventional R-AFSR.The tensile and compressive shear strengths of the repaired hole by stationary shoulder R-AFSR both increase first and then decrease when the rotating speed changes from 1200 to 1800 rpm,and these maximum values, respectively, reach 190±3 MPa and 64.5±2 MPa at 1400 rpm.The addition of stationary shoulder during R-AFSR can obtain a higher-quality repaired hole and broaden the repairing process window.
