Reconciling Communicative with Traditional Approaches to Language Teaching:Can It Be Done?

本文探讨交际教学法在中国英语教学中的必要性和可行性。 文章首先分析了“交际能力”的四方面内容:“语法能力”、“社会语言能力”、“话语能力”和“筹划能力”,论述了交际教学法的主要特点及其对外语教学的影响,然后分析了它的有利和不利方面。 文章接着对中国学生和教师的特点(包括优点和缺点)进行了分析,认为交际教学法在中国外语教学中不仅是必要的,而且是可行的。 文章最后介绍了几种在中国课堂上应用交际教学法的具体方法。

The Overview of Database Security Threats’ Solutions: Traditional and Machine Learning

As an information-rich collective, there are always some people who choose to take risks for some ulterior purpose and others are committed to finding ways to deal with database security threats. The purpose of database security research is to prevent the database from being illegally used or destroyed. This paper introduces the main literature in the field of database security research in recent years. First of all, we classify these papers, the classification criteria are the influencing factors of database security. Compared with the traditional and machine learning (ML) methods, some explanations of concepts are interspersed to make these methods easier to understand. Secondly, we find that the related research has achieved some gratifying results, but there are also some shortcomings, such as weak generalization, deviation from reality. Then, possible future work in this research is proposed. Finally, we summarize the main contribution.

General Survey of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine Researches on Tumor Metastasis

Metastasis and recurrence of tumors is the chief cause of death for such patients. Therefore, researches on the mechanism of its metastasis, prevention and treatment are the focal points in the field of traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） and Western medicine （WM） at present. WM practitioners＂ study on tumor metastasis involved its occurrence and development including every detail and process, and now it even has developed into the molecular biological field. py is used as the main means, but the efficacy is not n treatment surgical operation and radio- chemotheratoo optimistic. In recent years, TOM, as part of the comprehensive therapy, has been gradually gaining attention of oncologists. Aimed at solving the difficult problems in metastasis of tumor, many TOM practitioners on the basis of syndrome differentiation have raised theories about the cause of tumor metastasis. On the basis of these theories, some TOM recipes against tumor metastasis have been developed to serve as an effective supplement to surgical operation, radio- and chemotherapy. The present article summarizes research results in recent years about the cause of formation of tumor and its metastasis by TOM and WM, so as to offer some theoretical clues to the study of tumors metastasis.

BENEFITING FROM BOTH THE COMMUNICATIVE APPROACHES AND THE TRADITIONAL CHINESE METHODS IN ELT

For some time,ELT in China has been undergoing a heated discussion as to the best way ofteaching.Some think that the communicative approaches is inappropriate while others think that the tra-ditional Chinese methods are too old-fashioned.From various points of view,this paper argues that boththe communicative approach and the traditional Chinese methods can co-exist and influence each other inthe present Chinese teaching context.

Epidemic Diseases and Chinese Medicine:Example of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome and COVID-19

Epidemic diseases,known and studied in China since antiquity,are one of the main chapters of the School of Exogenous Febrile Diseases(温病学派)•Along with the legends about epidemic demons,China has developed over the centuries a medical approach based on the teachings of Huang Di Nei Jing(《黄帝内经》Internal Classic),Nan Jing(《难经》Classic of Difficulties'),and Shang Han Lun(《伤寒论》Treatise of Harmful Cold).However,it was in the 17th century,after the great break of the Song,Jin,and Yuan eras that an innovative spirit Wu Youxing(吴有性)first foresaw the existence of microorganisms as we know them now.His Wen Yi Lun(《瘟疫论》Treatise on Pestilences)foreshadows an original approach to epidemic diseases,particularly emerging infectious diseases of the 21st century:severe acute respiratory syndrome 2003-2004 and the COVID-19 pandemic are perfect examples.In this first article,which will be followed by two others,we will examine the classical and modern Chinese definitions of these dreadful plagues.

NOVEL APPROACHES FOR THE DETERMINATION OF MULTIPLE PARTICULAR PESTICIDES IN TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINES WITH COMPLEX MATRICES

The pesticide contamination of Traditional Chinese Medicines(TCMs)takes different ways,which caused the complexity of pesticide residues.The effective control of pesticide residues and the establishment of relevant detection methods are very important for ensuring the safety of TCMs.Our group has been committed to the determination of pesticide residues in TCMs for years.

INTEGRATION OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE WRITING AND PROCESS WRITING APPROACHES IN TEACHING EFL WRITING

This paper adopts a pedagogical approach to theteaching of English writing to EFL learners of interme-diate or advanced level in China.The teaching ofwriting has been a problem to Chinese EFL teachers fora long time.On the one hand,they want to make anattempt to adopt fashionable and effective Englishwriting approaches,like process writing.On the otherhand,they are frustrated by the traditional Chinesewriting method.Some of our language educators arealways struggling against the influence of our tradi-tional Chinese writing method.A negative attitudetowards our mother tongue writing approach has beenestablished or accepted by most of our EFL teachers,which result in the EFL learners’panic in their Eng-lish writing course because they are afraid of being ac-cused of writing a Chinese composition in Englishwords.Needless to say,this kind of teaching stylecannot be effective and is frustrating instead.The au-thor presents an integrated and practical solution tothis problem and discusses the applicability of the ap-proach.The author discusses how we can effectivelyintegrate the traditional Chinese writing method andthe popular process writing approach in teaching Eng-lish writing.
